Coronado Springs??? or not??

I just booked our next Disney trip for May 5-15, 2011. I have Coronado Springs reserved. Our travel agent did warn us about it being a convention center and said we would be competing with the crowds for the food court and the bus system in the am. Anyone been there recently that can give me any info on this? I'm more worried about the busses more than anything. We stayed at Caribbean Beach last time and wanted to try another moderate. Thanks!

I'd recommend CSR in a heartbeat! Besides having a great main pool area, CSR also offers many deluxe amenities at a mod price. Your TA is way off.

CSR has queen beds while the other mods have doubles like the values. The rooms have been recently renovated and are gorgeous.

CSR has a fitness center, spa, tanning beds, a sauna, salon, full menu room service and a night club.

CSR has a sliding wooden door separating the sink area from the room instead of a privacy curtain like the other mods.

CSR has the same toiletries as the deluxes (except GF). CSR has separate shampoo and conditioner instead of the shampoo/conditioner combo at the other mods and values (a small thing, I know, but it means I don't have to pack shampoo and conditioner).

CSR has the largest hot tub of the mods and one of the longest pool slides on Disney property. The pool, slide and playground area is great.

Yes, CSR is a convention resort but so are the GF, BW, Y&BC, Cont and Swan & Dolphin. The convention aspect helps keep the pools and buses less crowded during the day.

Thanks for this info! I'm also thinking about booking CSR for my next trip. I think the rooms look really nice since the refurb, and this information will definitely be useful in making that decision of where to stay next.

CS is the best moderate resort, in my opinion. We stayed there last year~Aug~ and had NO problems at all with buses or conventions or lines. In fact the buses were great. We requested Casistas 5 and no only did we get a free upgrade to waterview, but we were on the first stop for the bus. Bus Stop 2 is actually first pick up and drop off. We always had a bus right there and after a couple quick stops in the resort only, we were finished. The conventioneers did not even make a difference to us. I wouldn't say it was a kid themed hotel but our 4 year old loved the pool and the playground area. I would HIGHLY recommend it and for sure use Buzz's website thats posted on here because that is what I used and he also personally answered all my e-mails too. Enjoy!:slurp:

We'll be heading to CSR the week of Thanksgiving! I chose this resort because of the refurb. We like queen size beds and I heard that it feels like a Deluxe for the Moderate price (DS thinks it's Deluxe base on website and pics and I didn't bother correcting him! :ROFLOL:)

I'm so excited! I think that my family is gonna love it!!!!:sohappy:

Without a doubt, one of my favorite resorts at Disney!!! I have stayed there a few times and there were conventions going on each time I stayed there and never had an issue with crowds at the food court!!! Rooms are just redone and the resort grounds are beautiful!!! This is however a HUGE resort... So if I were you I'd definitely make a room request to stay in either the Cabanas or the Casitas as they are both pretty much centrally located. The Ranchos are the furtherest out.

DH and I were debating between this resort and Caribbean Beach for our Feb-March 2011 trip. I was hesitant about Coronado b/c I have never heard much about it or known anyone who has stayed there. I think all the high recommendations have helped me make up my mind on Coronado! Thanks!

Stayed at the CSR for the first time from 8/2/10 to 8/12/10. My family and I were in Ranchos 6A. Great room. Loved the queen sized beds! Mini fridge and coffee maker were a nice plus. The resort was not crowded at all when we were there and there was a Tupperware convention and a leadership conference going on during our trip. Having stayed at the Pop and AS resorts in the past, bus transportation at the CSR was a pleasure! No crowds and very little wait time to and from the parks. We ate at the Pepper Market and the Maya Grill during our trip and we enjoyed both. I would definitely stay at the CSR again!

We just returned last night from our 3rd stay at CSR, and everything Buzz says is true.

We stayed at CB twice before trying CSR, & the bus service seemed slower at CB (more stops).

I also stayed at CSR my last trip (over Easter of this year) on Buzz's recommendation and haven't regretted it once! It was fantastic and we stayed in Cabana 9B. Close to the main bus stop (buses were plentiful and never crowded), Pepper Market, marina, etc., and just a short walk over the bridge to the fantastic pool area.

I have a King bed room reserved for October. What building request should I make if I'd like to be close to the bus stop? (I could care less about the pool or food court...just don't wanna have to hike miles and miles to the room after a long day in the parks)

Many guests read or hear about cabana 9b or low numbered casita buildings but not all guests will be able to get a room in those buildings or may need a room in those buildings. These are not necessarily the best locations for every guest, in fact not best for most. (As of 1/2009, the conversion of cabana 9b to BUSINESS CLUB LEVEL was completed but it has been put on hold for leisure guests. This building can be requested once again.)

For conventioneers the Casitas 1 or 3 are often the best. These are close to the convention center; but quite a distance from pools and bus stops.

For adult couples, especially honeymooners or those celebrating anniversaries Casitas 4 or 5 with a water view is exceptional. Casita 4 has the quiet pool, fitness center, spa, salon, and both are close to bus stop #2.

For “leisure guests with children” here are some great locations; Cabana 8a, Rancho 7b, Cabana 8b, 9a, Rancho 6b, and 6a...in that order. Nearness to El Centro is usually of no importance to many guests. It's much more important to be close to the park bus stops and the “Dig Site”. Leisure guests may come to El Centro once or twice; but they will be at the buses twice a day (at least) and the pool often when they are at the resort.

For adults or large families who wish to be close to a park bus stop and to a “quieter pool” but are not interested in the theme pool, building 7a is great and has close proximity to parking.

Building 2 also is close to parking and usually one of the quietest buildings, especially from the 4th floor. The fourth floor of building actually includes part of the upper floors of building 3 and has easy access to the convention center by way of the elevator courtyard of building 1 (especially in a rainstorm).

In other words, there is no “best location for everyone”. Each building has its own plusses and minuses. The cast members will be happy to guide you into the building that fits your needs best……..if you let them know what those needs and expectations may be.

Also, for a reality check…….when there is a large convention……not everyone is going to get a room next to the convention center. In fact, most of the rooming blocks are set up by the group having the convention long before any of the convention guests arrive…… Sometimes, there is little cast member latitude on changing those assignments.

As always, if there are special needs that must be addressed, fax the resort a week before arrival. Be sure you are faxing to the resort and not to Walt Disney Travel Company, their booking agency. The resort cast is best able to accommodate special needs. Often guests call the reservation desk with these requests and do not understand that this is not the resort; but a central reservation desk for ALL of Walt Disney World. The fax number is available by calling Walt Disney World information and asking for the front desk operations fax number.

Cabana 9b is close to bus stop 1 and the main building with a short walk to the Dig Site (main pool) over the wooden bridge.

Cabana 8a is close to the Dig Site (and playground) and bus stop 4 with a short walk to the main building (closest to the pool).

Cabana 8b and 9a are in between the 2 above (9a has a quiet pool).

Ranchos 7b has a quiet pool, is close to the Dig Site and bus stop 4 with a bit longer walk to the main building. 7b is behind cabana 8a.

Casita 1 is attached to the main building and is very close to the restaurants.

Casita 3 has great courtyard and fountain views.

Casita 5 has some nice fountain and lake views and is close to the Dig Site but farther from the main building. Close to bus stop #2.
