Coronado Springs...a few ?'s

My trip is fast approaching and I have just a few ?'s that I hadn't thought of yet:

1. What is the BEST way to request room preference? (call, fax, etc...)

2. I have a waterview room so I know I for sure want it to be a lake view, not pool view. I know I don't want to stay in the Ranchos, but can't decide between the Casitas or Cabanas. Would like to be somewhat centrally located, but being close to the main areas (food court, etc.) rather than the main pool, but hopefully not too far away. What would be my best building to request?

3. Would rather have a top level room (floor 2 or 3) so views are better and there is more of a "balcony" feeling, and also a corner room. Is it ok to give these requests or is that ridiculous?

4. Cabana building 9B is looking pretty appealing...as is Casitas 1. From experince, which building do you prefer as far as location, decoration/theming, and lake views? (I wasn't sure if Casitas 1 had lake views, and I'm not sure how many of 9B's rooms were converted to concierge, which I do not have).

Any information/advice anyone can give me would be GREAT! I know I need to do this soon!!!

I can give you the answer to your first question. You must have your special requests noted on you reservation by the reservation center. The resorts no longer accept faxes or calls for room requests.

Always right Master Yoda is. If you booked directly with Disney, call 407-W-DISNEY and explain that you want to add some requests onto your reservation. Keep in mind that they only have so much space in the computer, AND that it will be easier for them to grant your requests the fewer you make. ALSO, it's very common for rooms not to be pre-assigned at all, but rather to be assigned at the time of check-in. So by all means, call to put your requests on your reservation, but make sure to very nicely speak up during the check-in process at the front desk.
2. I have a waterview room so I know I for sure want it to be a lake view, not pool view. I know I don't want to stay in the Ranchos, but can't decide between the Casitas or Cabanas. The Cabanas section seems better suited for your desires. And you probably already know this, but when you book water view, there is no way to guarantee whether it will be lake, pool, or fountain.
3. Would rather have a top level room (floor 2 or 3) so views are better and there is more of a "balcony" feeling, and also a corner room. Is it ok to give these requests or is that ridiculous?
Again, the fewer requests, the better.
4. Cabana building 9B is looking pretty appealing...as is Casitas 1. From experince, which building do you prefer as far as location, decoration/theming, and lake views? Actually, ALL of the Cabana 9B rooms are Club Level rooms now. HOWEVER, they are often given away as regular rooms when convention traffic is light ... this is what we're hearing, anyway. So you can try to request it, but you might be out of luck.

My trip is fast approaching and I have just a few ?'s that I hadn't thought of yet:

1. What is the BEST way to request room preference? (call, fax, etc...) Have it noted on your reservation before you arrive; we also fax our request about two or three days ahead of time. I know people say that Disney no longer looks at the faxes but we have been told specifically by the CM's at CSR that they do.

Remember that your request is just that--a request. There is no guarantee. You can request lake view, but they could give you fountain view, pool view. It is their discretion. We have always stayed in Casitas 4 and 5. We've been fortunate to get a lakeview every time but one when we got a fountain view (and it was a great view). From Casitas 4 and 5 (which we have stayed five of our seven trips), it takes me five mintues to walk to the main building (food court, registration, etc.) and about eight minutes to the main pool.

3. Would rather have a top level room (floor 2 or 3) so views are better and there is more of a "balcony" feeling, and also a corner room. Is it ok to give these requests or is that ridiculous? Doesn't hurt to ask--but remember it is only a request.

Castias 1 is a long walk to the main pool but is basically attached to the main building so you are right by registration and food court. We were in Casitas 3 this past September (the only time we did not get the section we request, but we had been upgraded to a suite for our 25th anniversary so I wasn't complaining). It took me two minutes to walk to the main building and about 12-15 minutes to the main pool.

Any information/advice anyone can give me would be GREAT! I know I need to do this soon!!!
If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to ask me. CSR is our home away from home and I'll be glad to try to help.

Beware of the "water views" from Cabanas 9B. We requested this building and had a commanding view of a drainage ditch on the back side of the blgs. Technically, it was a water view, but seriously?
