i totally agree.

they could put it in Innovations in Epcot and i wouldnt mind...... im not a big fan of Innovations. maybe in the 80's, but not today.

Innoventions is acctually readlly fun if you take your time to enjoy EVERYTHING there is to do. It's kind of overwhelming at first, but last visit, I spent two hours in there.

I think the reason all of us want COP to remain in WDW is because COP is Walt. This was his vision...start to finish. It's one of the few things that remains "Walt" in WDW. In many eyes...they take away COP, they take away Walt. Atleast that's how I feel of the attraction.

Connor002 - What did he say about this? Specifically!
He was 12 years old, I believe, when he first decided "I want to design these rides". He would actually build models of Sleeping Beauty Castle in his backyard. He showed some of his early drawings. For such a young age these drawings were amazing. When he was 15 he finally became a Disneyland CM scooping ice cream. He kept designing rides and, I believe, in his 20's became the youngest Imagineer. He did many ride proposals and finally got his own project...Big Thunder Mountain. He also talked about the 20K site in DL being refurbed into a Finding Nemo attraction. It sounds great but, I wish they would have considered that in WDW as well.

Clearly, if Disney is going to remain as the penultimate theme park company in the world (a place it obviously holds given the latest attendance figures just released for the past calendar year), it will need to make difficult decisions in order to maintain its leading edge, and those decisions will necessarily affect some of our smaller and older attractions, don't you think?

Just FYI, "penultimate" means "second to last" or in this context, "second best." It's not a fancy way to say "ultimate." I used to make this mistake myself!

I am of the dump COP crowd. It is a little too cheesy. I don't like it or the Hall of Presidents, especially since it spends 90% of the presentation on Slavery apologies...

COP is amazingly out of date, it is a joke to a lot of guests. It is a running gag in my family to watch it.

Wow - the future family has a talking kitchen and plays low-res video games...

it's still a one time only attraction with no replay value

Funny, that's how I feel about M:S. :lookaroun

I do however, make it a point to see COP on every visit. To each his own I guess.

CoP has plenty of replay value. When it's 95 degrees and you have FastPasses for Space Mountain that won't activate for another 20 minutes, CoP is an oasis in the heat. Air conditioning, comfy chairs, a kitschy show with a highly "mockable" ending ... a remockable attraction, I say.

On the whole I'm fairly indifferent to CoP. I do have some nostalgia associated with it but I do wish that Disney would at least update it somewhat. Had they done so years ago it would likely be more popular than it is today. Or maybe it just isn't cost-effective to do so.

Since I have been on it several times, I was about to tell the family we could skip CoP when we were there a couple of weeks ago but before I could say anything my 13 y.o. asked if we could go on it and my 10 y.o. agreed immediately. So much for it being a one-time ride with no appeal to kids...

My kids are ages 6 and 9, and they love Carousel of Progress. They like the idea of finding out what their grandparents and greatgrandparents did and what the latest, greatest thing was. They will ask to go on it everytime we are at MK, which is frequent since we now live down here. It's cool to ride in a revolving theater. It's one of the few attractions that I've seen every age group flock to. (Yes, I've actually seen lines for COP stretch down to AstroOrbiter.) Like Generation x says, when it's hot and you have time to kill, it's a nice place to relax.
Could it do with refurbishment? Yeah. Guess what? There have been a few minor changes made to it, regarding costuming and lighting lately. MissM posted pictures of the last scene. If the attraction was down for the count, then Disney would not be paying attention to details. I'm all for the creation of new attractions, but some of the older ones are unique and have special place in people's hearts. Age is irrelevant, in my opinion. When you come to WDW, you are still a kid at heart, whether you are 2 or 92.
