Wonderful news! It's good to know that CoP will be around for a while longer. Hopefully a little TLC will renew interest in this classic.

I Love this atraction and everything about it. It realy saddened me that it would have been Dismantled but I am now glad to see that these where most likely rumors. I can't wait to ride this favorite ride of mine in January and to see all the new updates!!!

I can't wait wait wait to go see COP! It wasn't open the last time I was in the park, and I was so bummed. I tried to convince my husband that if maybe I whined around to the right people, they would open it up and let just me ride:lol:
No such luck!

I'm going BACK! 30 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the entire idea of it being dismantled was the figment of some fan-boy's imagination.....

WDC has never said it was going to be dismantled......and until they do, it is as likely to be replaced as Space Mt or TOT
I am pleased that you put this into proper perspective Speck! Thank you very much for the accurate report.

These are the days,
these are the best days,
these are the best days of our life...

OOPS! Wrong version!

You can still hear that version playing on the "soundtrack" around tomorrowland, you know, in between pages for Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow...

"Welcome to the General Electric's Carousel of Progress. Now, most Carousel's just go 'round and 'round without getting anywhare, but on this one, at every turn we'll be making progress. And Progress is not just moving ahead. It's dreaming and building a better way of life.

Progress is the sound of a motor.

The Hum of a turbine.

The heatbeat of the factory.

The sound of the symphony.

The roar of the rocket.

Progress is people being released from drugery, gaining more time to enjoy themselves and live richer, better lives. And as long as man works, dreams, and builds, this progress will go on, in your life and mine.

Does this mean they're actually going to run it full time again? This whole "open seasonally" thing is stupid, especially when they pick on good attractions like Carousel of Progress or Timekeeper. Why not make Under New Management seasonal? It could run from February 1st through 2nd. I can't imagine anyone would miss that noisy mess (bring back the original...PLEEEEEEEASE!).

I love CoP. In some way the song finds a way at least once a week into conversation between my girlfriend and I. And as a rule, for the last 9 months, there must be multiple references to the following at every family gathering: how even we laugh when grandma plays videogames, an oven that both talks and cooks food at what must be EXTREMELY HIGH temperatures but is left to be monitored by no safeguards, how ugly turquoise is when a room in made entirely of it, how audio-animatronics always say sasparilla hilariously, how arm movements of audio-animatronics can be so awkward yet dogs ears look so flawless, and how soothing it is to hear the slowing drawl in the "Next Stop Walt Disneys CoP" on the TTA.

Now the bad. I think the CoP is ultimately doomed in its current location. There is a reason its only put on when park attendance forces it to be. It's insane to say Space Mountain will not outlive CoP, at least in its current state. Space Mountain is still, despite its age, a headliner. CoP sadly is not.

I have read what I can assume is only a rumor of CoP moving to MGM in attempt to tie it to the other Walt Disney-themed attraction/show. This makes sense to me in the long run. Those who are jaded by the closing of quality attractions are justified, but as a fan of CoP I really see the need for a way to make it become more indespensable to WDW and the Disney Company. It must find a way to become more than a throw-back seasonal attraction, and letting it sit unused or as a way to ease congestion just won't let that happen anytime soon.

I would be interested to hear you speak those words there times over and keep a straight face.

That information is utter nonsense. If you knew anything about WDI's plans, you'd rush back and delete that post.

To put it simply, replacing the Carousel of Progress is one of the few plans in Imagineering that is progressing. This is is a matter of one department not in touch with another. To depict its future as secure as the Tower of Terror is ridiculous.
