coolers?

A friend of mine (its not me, honest) is going to The World this weekend. She used to 'sneak' a cooler into the park to defray the cost of drinks. But now with the heightened security she's concered about them not letting her in with the cooler. I thought it was a general rule that coolers weren't allowed so I don't know what will happen. But I told her I'd check it out.
Any one have any experience with this?
(its not me, heck, I feel guilty leaving WDW to go to Universal for a day, I'd feel even worse trying to sneak a cooler in!!)

sure, I'll rename the thead...is it possible?
speaking of scales, I'd have to say my wife and I are both at the top. We're from upstate NY but vist Mickey as often as possible.
On the topic of being 'unloyal', I say a show on the travel channel the other day about being able to swim w/ the dolphins at SeaWorld. That would be nice to do with my daughter some day (she's only 11 months old now), but I'm thinking maybe we'll get SCUBA certified and do the divequest thing instead. How bad is that?

obessed with the World

Jedi you said you have an 11 month old ..thank goodness your not one of those that thinks she is too young for disney world !! some one I know has been saying for years that his kids are too young and it drives me insane to hear that!! baribe ( youngest granddaughter now 10 ) was 6 months when we first took her ..after that ..she had to have her mickey mouse in site to go to sleep at night and when she was 2 she would tell people her name was "Barbie belong to mickey and minnie" I know taking a baby is more work but WDW does the best it can to make it easier for you :)

2much2do, I gave up trying not to cry when I see the commericials, and whats worse ..is I have to be understanding when people who are clueless say things like "I have been to disneyland and didnt think it was so great"
and every day but tomorrow is too far away. So 2much2do if you do have a disease then I have it too, I envy you moving down there. I get so jealous when I hear of people that go more then once a year or people that can stay 3 whole weeks!!!!!!

am I crazy, 42 days till we go ..and I have dragged out my suitcases and started at least putting little things in my Disney club member bag. Sitting here drinking my morning coffee out of my All Star music cup, in my Poly night gown still, wishing that tomorrow was the day we go !

Hey Jedi, where in upstate NY are you? I am in upstate NY as well. Watertown, about an hour north of Syracuse and 30 min. from the Canadian border. And, I have an eight month old. Neat, huh?

Tink:
Well, it was a strange circumstance that brought us to FL this past Jan. My father's stepfather had passed away and the estate covered the cost of everyone's air fare to fly down. We had obligations for a couple days in Tampa, but after that, it was Disney all the way!! I suppose if it hadn't been for that, we might have waited a little while longer to take her there (maybe until the end of this year). But she was wonderful the entire time. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

2much:
I'm just outside of Frankfort, not far from Utica or New Hartford. I used to drive thru Watertown every summer, my aunt has a camp on the St. Lawrence. Nice country up there.
And an 8-month old, eh? Aren't they great? I was a bit nervous about having a little one in the house, but I love her to pieces now. If you really get bored, I have a web page with tons of pictures of my daughter, and the most recent ones are from our trip. The address is http://home.usadatanet.net/~lastjedi/index.htm

To both of you.
I'm very jealous. My next hope for a trip isn't until December. But maybe not even then (we're thinking about selling the house and moving closer to school for Kayleigh) So I'm not even sure when I'll be going!! If there's anything worse than not being in Disney, its not knowing when you're going back!!!!!

Thank you so much. I really do adore her. Her first birthday is coming up at the end of the month.
But I digress.....
Hmm, now there's a quandry. Go to Disney and stay off property or wait until the full experience can be afforded:confused:   That is a tough question!!!
Our plan was to go for Christmas, its the best time of year. So many lights and speical events. Its even more magical than 'normal' Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Your daughter is adorable. If I can ever get it together I will post some pics of my Allyson. Listen, Jedi (is that you real name? That is so cool!) how long has your little girl been standing? Ally has been standing for about a month. She also likes to cruise around the couch, etc. I am thinking she will decide to walk really soon, but isn't doing it yet. She stands up w/o holding onto anything but, no steps yet. She just started waving as well. Now she waves to anyone and everyone. So cute, aren't they?!

Anyway, as per your post. Well, if you can't get a deal at Disney (like the Jan. discounts) or you want to go during peak, then I would go and stay off property if it was the deciding factor between going sooner or staying home. Although I personally can't imagine not staying at Disney. But, if it ever came to that then......look out Motel 6, here we come!

PS Wanna know our secret for getting to go often? We make sure DH's employer takes out taxes at the single rate, even though he has four dependents. We figure we could never save the extra $30-$40 a week in a savings account cuz we are lousy savers. And that amount isn't so big that we miss it much. Then we always get a big return at tax time, which we devote to Disney. No using it for new furniture which the kids will wreck anyways, or paying credit card bills which will always be there anyways. We use the money to make memories for our children. It's all about prioritizing, and we have chosen to make Disney a priority for us!

someone is going to accuse 2much2do and me of being the same person!!! Thats what we do !! the income tax ..and yep .. i need a new drive way ..but hey .. a trip to the world is more important!!! and I am a lousy saver too!! forget new furniture ..the old stuff has its own memories.. some visual
oh goodness do we really need to talk about the credit card bills ..but since you mention ..there is my "disney emergency credit card" that has a huge limit ... (not a disney credit card just one I keep incase of a disney crisis) but yep ..I am always gonna owe on the credit cards. ohhhhhhhhhhhh there is a disney commercial on ... why isnt today over with yet???
42 days !!

I'm beginning to wonder if you're the same person too!! Especially when you refer to DH? I'm new wo the chat thing so to me all that means is designated hitter:lol:

2much:
Thanks for the compliements, and if you do post some pictures, let me know, I'd love to check them out. My niece's name (who is 6 months to the day younger than my daugher) is also Allison, not the same spelling though.
My real name is Chris, but I fancy myself the Last of the Jedi (its a Star Wars thing, sorry)
Kayleigh isn't walking yet, but she's very very close. She's cruising and crawling at light speed, walking yet. I was hoping she would take her first step while we were in Disney, but no such luck. She's getting better and better at standing on her own too. Its so much fun.

We do the tax thing too, but we usually spend it on the house, last year we paved the driveway. But some of it usually goes to the Disney fund. This year its going into the New House fund. We live about a 40 minute bus ride from the school and I don't want to put Kayleigh thru that. So we're trying to sell our house and move closer (what a headache that is)

December truly is a beautful time of year. But Jan is a good time to go too. Good prices and no crowds at all. This past trip, the longest wait we had was 5 minutes for Space Mt. Its so cool!

dear husband, ah, that makes sense now. All this time I thought they were initials or something. ha!
Get out, you're a big SW fan too??!! I've been a huge fan since I was small. Believe it or not, I can actually remember seeing SW at the drive in when I was 5!!! Excited about the new movie?

So, where are you staying on your quickly approaching trip?

We love, love, love Star Wars here! Not as much as we love Disney, but close! Even Nate, my DS ( dear son) who is only four loves SW. Yes, we are excited about the new movie. It comnes out three days after we get back from WDW.

We will be staying at the All Star Movies. We don't spend much time in the room, and we love the theming. We will always stay at AS until we move down there and can try out the more expensive resorts.

Oh my goodness, Tink. I cannot believe this! My husband is a truck driver as well!!! Really, he is! He runs for Meyers Transport right now. He runs mail from Canada to JFK in NYC, where we used to live. Now we live closer to Canada. We are desperately looking for local or regional runs from Florida that he can try to get so we can move. How is JB Hunt? Is he home every day? DH is working nights, but he is home every day. He will probably never go OTR cuz he wants to be with us. We are willing to sacrifice pay to stay local. Anyway, this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off topic now. I just thought when you said fleet your DH must drive truck too!, LOL!

we are staying at the Caribbean Beach .. our last 2 times were the movies and music .. I think I liked the Music more then the movies ..but we had to stay at the movies because the girls saw the pictures of the giant dalmations those really are great resorts for the price .. before the AS we stayed at the Poly one year ..but it was because we got a very special deal though the Magic Kingdom Club ..(now the Disney club) because we cant stay less then 5 nights ..no way!! that would be like a little taste of something you have been craving and then having it taken away before your full :( before that it was Dixie Landings ..loved it ..before that we always stayed at the Caribbean Beach so this year is more like going home.

Tink,
Dallas, eh? My job sent me down there for a few month back in early 2000. Quite a commute that was. Every week I was back and forth to Dallas. I had an apt. in irving, right on Royal Lane. It was a lot of fun! I miss it a little bit.

2much,
bummer, sounds like you're just going to miss the Star Wars weekend. They're only having one this year. I'm still praying for there to be a special $30 round trip air fare for that weekend so I can go:rolleyes:
I hear the movie is going to be great. TPM didn't quite live up to what I had hoped, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one. I've got the VCR all set for the preview that's going to be on Sunday night. ASM is really nice. We stayed there once. The All-stars get a 'bad' rap, but I thought it was cool. I've got a picture of my brother and I standing on top of the woody blocks in the Toy Story section (a much better picture of me than the one on the web page, I just looked at that again)

good grief !!!!!!

i cant believe it!!!! unreal !! your DH is a driver .. I am sitting here stunned just totally stunned ... hubby has been driving for J.B.Hunt 18 years ..just passed the 18 year mark really feb 24th. I wont lie ..up until 9-11 things were as good as they could get ... frieght slowed down. he hauled alot of K-mart loads to florida before too and I guess you can guess how thats been. But things seem to be picking up again. I have to tell you our only real reason for not moving to florida is because of my darlings .. I couldnt bare to be that far away ( i know they would spend summers with us though ) because we could live any where since he drives for J.B. normally he is home ever 3 - 2 days. I think J.B is still hauling conversion vans out of Ocala .. but I want swear to that .. I would have to ask hubby. saddly hubby may have to go back otr if things dont keep picking up. which would mean he might be gone as long as 2 weeks.
