My Mickey backpack is my best friend. Goes everywhere. It was even stollen, on my birthday, when my car was broken into (at my favorite hibatchi rest.). Found it two days later when looking in the weeds behind the building on a hunch. I guess it wasn't the thief's style.
Anyway, it has form and function.

Park Souvenirs

Geez........where does one begin???!!!!!!!!!!

Monorail set complete with all available hotels, rides and the new Main Gate set/signs......the diecast vehicles.......the PVC/Action figure sets.......the miniature PVC sets (3 to a bag)........trading pins.........snow globes..........bobble heads..........t-shirts..........the new Haunted Mansion playsets???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You all can now understand why I usually stay away from Downtown Disney on my days off. If I didn't, I would end up actually paying Disney to let me work there.

I do have a suggestion for everyone no matter what type of souvenir you want to buy:

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING YOU WANT, BUY IT RIGHT THEN!!!!!!

Same thing holds true for wanting to do something. Don't wait and hope you find it elsewhere. While most things are available in several places, some things aren't.

It doesn't matter where you buy something "on property", the prices will be the same. You pay the same amount at AK for a certain t-shirt as you do for the same shirt at Downtown Disney.

Not to mention, if you don't want to carry something, you can have it sent to the park entrances for pickup on your way out....or at Downtown Disney, you can have your items sent free to your Disney (on property) resort as long as you're not checking out the following day.

Those Main Gate signs for the monorail are adorable. I almost bought that set without owning the actual monorail just because I was in love with the little purple street sign!

As for me, I collect Figment stuff. Anything else I buy (and there's usually quite a bit) is random--I see it, I like it, I buy it. :D

I'm a pin person and I have specific rules such as I won't buy a pin if I haven't stayed at the resort or done the attraction. My son collects the die cast ride toys and has been doing it for 3-4 years now. When will there be a Space Mountain die cast? No one seems to know.

There has already been one, now retired. It had Mickey Mouse sitting in the vehicle, dressed in space garb. Frankly, it wasn't my fave. They are sold on e-bay on a fairly regular basis.

I love those antennae toppers.

I got my first one last year when I went and I must have been going at some mach speed this weekend and the thing flew off my antennae on the highway! I almost stopped and backed up to get it but there were too many cars and it was too dangerous. anyway it is an excuse to go back to WDW to get another!!! they are so cute though.

I think some of them are so cute. My favorite is the little Mickey ghost for Halloween.

I couldn't bring myself to actually put them on my antenna. They're too cute and I'm afraid they'll either fall off or be taken off by someone else.

Unless of course, you have an annual pass, in which case you get a 10% discount at World of Disney. I saved a major chunk of change last year by waiting to buy souvenirs until I was at WOD and using my discount.

It sure does. On one trip to the store alone we saved $40. Of course that was with my Mom, my sister, my brother and his girlfriend at the end of a weeklong trip last year and I was using it for everyone and they were paying me back in cash. It sure is amazing how fast you can spend $80 per person at WOD.

As I said, my son has been collecting them for almost 4 years and we never saw Space Mountain and we visit WDW twice a year. I'm talking about the small die casts that are only about 4 inches long. The early ones did not have characters in them. The CM's we asked whereever we saw them all said they'd never seen a Space Mountain. I'll check ebay, thanks.

Cool WDW Souvenirs

Everytime I go to Walt Disney World I like to get the hardcover pictorial souvenir book (if it's changed enough from the last edition I got). They tend to keep a certain format for a few years and only change a few pages and the cover. They're a good keepsake of the trip and have better photos than I could ever take. And it makes a nice coffee table book.

Theme park shows and attraction soundtracks are great souvenirs. They're great ways to, pardon the cliché, "Remember the Magic." :animwink: In particular, Fantasmic!, Festival of the Lion King, SpectroMagic, and Magic in the Streets I highly recommend. I'd recommend Wishes, too, but I don't have it....yet. :D

I also LOVE my monorail train set. Just like others have said, I like to bring it out during Christmas in lieu of a traditional train. I think all of the other monorail accessories are really neat, especially the one of Spaceship Earth and Cinderella Castle (even though it obviously isn't accurate, it makes up for that with so many accessories and Disney character figures). If I was still a kid, I would SO be wanting them. But they're pretty expensive in my mind and I don't have enough space for all of it.

Lastly, a cool thing I found during my last visit in January was the candle jar topper that has the four park icons on it. It's a pretty cool trinket and displays just as well when not on a candle jar.

Happy Shopping!

I can't believe I forgot about pins! I grabbed a bunch of Nightmare Before Christmas Pins (And Plushes for that matter) when I was down there. I also got a cool Chernabog lanyard off eBay for my trip this year. :D

I had 2 Antenna Toppers, one was Zero and the other was Jack Skellington with a Santa hat and beard, needless to say, somebody took my Jack one around Christmas time, but Zero is still flying behind me.
