Contemporary - Worth Staying At?

In my WDW visitation history, I have stayed in Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge (will be twice after Sept 08), Polynesian (twice), and the Boardwalk Villas. With the Magic Kingdom being my favorite of all the parks, I prefer to stay in that area of the World. I don't really care to stay in the Grand Floridian, but I've always wanted to stay in a tower room of the Contemporary Resort. I mean who wouldn't? It's the coolest looking place in that area with the monorail going right through the center and a short hop, skip, and jump to the Magic Kingdom.

So is it worth the money to stay in the Contemporary at least once? Right now with the construction of the Bay Lake Tower DVD resort, I'd even settle for staying there (since it'll be connected to the resort itself by elevated walkway). I've heard it's great to stay at, and others say they wouldn't necessarily go back because it's rather on the noisy side. Opinions?

I don't mean for my previous posts to be all negative...((I just went back and read them again)).

To the OP, if I had it to do over I would do no different. Is the Contemporary worth it? Yeah, even with the quirks and disappointments. No hotel is perfect. I've stayed at 3 at WDW and each had it's draw-backs. The location of CR is totally incredible. Try to make sure there's a note in your reservation that you want the HIGHEST possible floor. We were on 6 directly over the monorail near the elevators. It wasn't loud and it wasn't annoying but asleep or awake I was aware when it was coming through. You'll love the views and the sounds and the feeling of being in the middle of all the action. If I was to book Contemporary again I'd like to try concierge level...just to guarantee I'm high up!

**When we were there if we had our sliding door open in the early early morning hours like when the sun was coming up we could occasionally hear coyote howls carried in the breeze. Tell me if THAT isn't the shiz-nit?!**

Yep. When we were at WDW a couple weeks ago we stopped by to shop in the Contemporary. While in the shop we looked out those same windows again and still those big gaps where whatever was supposed to seal them had long since rotted away were there. Also, while waiting for the monorail if you look across to the carpeted area and windows on the opposite side of the platform there's lots of dust..and cobwebs...still. If that were my house and my guests were looking at that crud I'd be embarrassed. Truly.

YIKES - I just don't notice stuff like that. Isn't that funny how some people are more aware or observent of these kind of details?

I think some of us have come to expect Disney to be perfect. Whenever something isn't, it's noticeable.

But in all honesty, a resort that charges upwards of $400 per night, should not have dirty windows in their lounges and restaurants.
