Contemporary vs POR vs WL

I have stayed at all three and love each one. It is coming down to finances as usual. POR is half the cost for the fall deals and so it is money versus ambiance. We would be going in mid-November or early December. Plus, if we do POR, I can stay an extra day or two to ensure that I have time for UNI and IOA (which I haven't visited since 2004).

Brain is saying POR. Heart is saying Contemporary.

POR is our home and our absolutely favourite. That said, we've never stayed at the Contempo or WL. WL is a dream of mine and eventually I'll be fortunate enough to stay there.

If POR means you get an extra couple of days, I say go for it! You have never have enough time home.

We have stayed at all three with Contemporary being my favorite as well. The question is would you be happy at POR after staying on the monorail and within walking distance to the Magic Kingdom? You must decide for yourself, but I would, more than likely, regret it. Then again UNI and IOA hold no interest for me. Whatever you decide good luck and enjoy.

Go POR ... spend the extra Disney time. Sure the resorts are a part of your trip and the theming and ambiance are distinct pieces that determine which resort to choose. But ultimately if I had the time and it can get me more Disney time I'll sacrifice the luxury .... after all time spent in a resort doesnt compare to time/fun/activities that come with the day long hours in the parks.

POR is worth it for the extra days. It is harder to navigate and the bus system requires more time, but it is an absolutely beautiful resort with several great room styles.

The rustic Alligator Bayou rooms are a good choice if you want a style similar to WL. The Mansions and princess rooms are beautiful as well, especially the firework headboards in the princess rooms.

The QS is good, but the no breakfast TS is a minus. The boat to DTD is very nice. But what will really make it worth it is the chance to go to Uni. Potter is totally worth it and Spider-Man is one of the best rides in Orlando.

I loved the POR, it has a small resort feel, and its a nice quiet diversion after a busy day at the parks. Next year we'll be trying out the contemporary, I'm sure we'd have a great time at the POR, but I've always wanted to say that contemporary.

We've stayed at the Contemporary over a dozen times and due to cost I always think our stays are to short. I would take POR if it means doing Uni and IOA. My family might not agree, but that's my opinion.

Thank you all. I did go ahead and book POR. I will probably keep checking WL discounts but I'll save over $1,000 by staying at POR. That means more days and more spending money. I really appreciate the feedback that everyone supplied.

We just booked our March 2016 trip at POR this morning. My favorite is and always will be The CR but we decided to save a bit of $$ and stay at POR this time. We will be returning in 2017 and we will stay at The CR. Have a Magical Trip! :cat:

I'm biased but I would definitely choose the Contemporary first, and then the WL, and then POR. Location of the Contemporary as well as transportation methods are awesome. The Contempo Cafe is great too and everything is just so easy! Same with the WL except you lose the monorails but still have the boats and with either the WL or the Contemporary you'll have larger rooms than at the POR. Do you really need to make the trip to IOA or Uni

Such valid points and totally agree with your rankings. We love WL's ambiance and rustic feel (honestly, I'm building a mini version after I win the lottery!) and the Christmas decorations look wonderful (this is the first time going during the holiday season). We stayed at CR once in the Garden Wing and loved everything about it. Walking to the MK, the boats, and it just says "Disney" due to its history. However, we have also stayed at POR and really enjoyed it.

However, I really enjoy IOA and haven't been there since Potter was added or Transformers/Potter to UNI. So, I really want to give it a try.
