Contemporary VS. Boardwalk

I would suggest the Contemporary. Mostly everyone knows that it is because of the monorail.
Pros...
Great views(in towers)
easy transport to MK
Nice big rooms
every kids dream, the monorail outside their door.
great shopping, .5 of a floor
Cons..
terrible views(in wings)
nearly 45 minutes to get to everywhere else.
Small fast food complex
Not alot of theming
very outdated
But I stay there and I love it. Haven't stayed at the Boardwalk but I hear it is the best. I hope this helped.:wave:

Actually we had a fabulous view in the North Garden Wing - overlooking the water. We could watch the Electrical Water Pageant from our room. The downside to the good view was the long trek from the elevators, but it was worth it.
If you have a car it's not 45 minutes to get to everywhere else either, so that would be something to consider in your decision.
Our favorite part of staying at the Contemporary was walking to the MK. It's absolutely the fastest and easiest way to get there.

Definitely the Contemporary.
I admit I haven't stayed at Boardwalk. But I hear noise is an issue in some locations.
In any event, as pointed out above: Contemporary has Monorail.
There is nothing to compare with the views out of the tower if you land the Seven Seas Lagoon Side. I remember staying up till was past 2 one morining, watching them switch the monorails over to the tracks to take them home for the night.

IF I was travelling with a small child, I would definitely go with the Contemporary. You're on the monorail for two parks (MK AND EPCOT) so you can wheel the stroller on and off. MGM and AK would take longer, but you'd probably only go for one day each. Let's face it, you probably 76ywant to spend most of your time at MK, so you would be exactly where you want to be.

I have not stayed at either but would also say the Contemporary as it is on the monorail loop and with a small child that is a huge bonus. You will spend most of your time most likely at the MK so you will be right there and not have to trek too far. Also the buses with a small child can be kind of a pain. We are staying at the Polynesian on our next trip mainly for the that reason.

Well there's pros and cons to both resorts.
Boardwalk-Short walk to Epcot/Can take Boat
Contemporary-Short walk to MK/Can take Monorail
Out of the 2, I like Contemporary a little bit more. As for it taking "45 minutes to get everywhere else". Everything on Disney grounds is pretty much within 15 minutes of each other, so I don't think you'd really have to worry about time and transportation. If you have your own car, that just makes it better. Also, for breakfast you can go to Chef Mickey's in the morning, or for Dinner (As long as your 9 month old isn't scared of the Characters :animwink: ) Yes, Contemporary is a little outdated, but if you're staying in the tower, you can't get a better view, so i'd have to say Contemporary!

OK, well I will give my choice based on a different perspective. I've not stayed at either resort, however, have visited both of them.
When I went to the Boardwalk, I fell in love with it so much. It really is a lovely resort, great themeing, location, walking distance to Epcot and MGM. The Boardwalk itself has all the bars, restaurants and shops too. I am determined to stay there next time.
I wasn't so impressed when visiting the Contemporary Resort. It didn't have the same wow factor, the pool is not as interesting, and it felt to me very "convention centre like". But of course, it does have a Monorail running through it, views of the MK etc.

The Contemporary has some of the biggest regular (non-suite) rooms on property. A factor in deciding is also how many are you? Contemporary with 2 queen beds and a day bed can easily accommodate 5. We do it all the time and our group includes 2 adults, 1 17 yr old, 1 16 yr old and 1 14 yr old. That is why we haven't stayed at the Boardwalk yet, only 4 to a room.

I have stayed several times at both hotels and you can't go wrong at either.
At the Boardwalk you have access to 2 parks, a short walk or boats to Epcot, and the boats to MGM.
At the Contemporary you have access to 2 parks, either a short walk or monorail to the Magic Kingdom, and the monorial to Epcot.
Which parks do you and your husband like the most? I would let that decide which resort to stay at. At 9 months old, your baby is not going to be picky about which park she is going to. Strollers are available at all the parks. If you want to bring your own stroller, you can bring your own strollers on board both the monorial and the boat transportation by the Boardwalk. The only drawback would be getting onto the buses, as the stroller would have to be emptied out and closed up.
The Contemporary has nice big rooms, it DOES have theming, just not as much as other Disney hotels. It has a sparce/space/future theming and this either works for some people or it doesn't (that said it is my favorite on the monorial system). It has easy access to the monorial, great restaurants, nice big pools, water sports available and easy transportation to the other hotels for dining. There is no drawback staying here.
The Boardwalk.....I dont know which kind of room you got a rate on, as the rooms vary greatly. But the theming is beautiful, there are nice pools, great places to eat, access to the Yaght and Beach Clubs, easy walk to the Swan and Dolphin. The Villas are great for families with small children because of the washer and dryers available. I love the Villas for this reason alone and have stayed there often when my kids were young. The only problem I had with the Villas was if my room was facing the Boardwalk itself, there were noise problems, especially late at night, but this was a problem on the Villas side, where the lounges were open late at night.
I think either choice you make, you will be happy. You didn't say how long your trip was, but you could also consider spliting your trip between the two hotels also. Hope this info helps. If you have any further questions, send me and email and I would be happy to help further.

I have stayed at both many times... and I vote for the Boardwalk!
Both are great! I just like the atmosphere at the Boardwalk! The Boardwalk offers you a lot other than just walking around. You can rent the multi person bicycles and ride them all over or play the games on the makeshift midway.
You can also rent boats to ride or fish out of! The pool at the Boardwalk is also great!
The food selection at the Boardwalk is much more extensive than Contemp. You can eat or get a drink while watching a game at ESPN Place, get some great seafood or have fun at Jellyrolls!
The Contemp is old and simple. The only thing they offer that the Boardwalk doesn't is the Monorail.
I would pick Boardwalk. It's just fun!
