Contemporary Vs AKL

Ok, we are thinking about saving up for a huge trip to WDW and the wife and I are not in agreement. I want to stay at the Contemporary (I've been going since the early 70's and have always wanted to stay there since the first time I passed through on the monorail) and she wants to stay at AKL.

Now, I don't want to pull WDW Seniority on her since she's only been going since 1996 (when we first met of course) because she's my wife and well I love her, but I have always dreamed of spending a week in the Contemporary on the MK side.

She thinks it would be more fun to see Giraffe's walking by in the morning. I think the transportation will be more of a problem from AKL.

Can you help us decide which one is right for us? Anyone stay in both that can compare contrast? Usually we drag the Airstream down and stay in Ft Wilderness just to give you some background.

Thanks! :sohappy:

i love akl. it is also rated the #1 family resort in the u.s by discovery channel. so it is really family oriented and a lot of fun. but unfortunatly u have to take a bus everywhere.
while at the contemporary (i have never stayed there) you have monorail transport to epcot and mk, as well as the other mk resorts. and i have heard it's a nice resort. and one more andvantage, after wishes at mk you can walk to the contemporary from mk instead of waiting for other transportation. (this also works for anyone else walk to contemporary instead of waitin an hour for the monorail at mk:D , you wait 30 minutes walking instead of an hour)

You know... staying at the Contemporary Consierge level has been a dream of mine... Ever since my best friend Bobby (We were in th grade) stayed with his family back in '77 at the Contemporary (tower level)... but when we went that year our family stayed off property at what I believe was the hilton right off 192 & I4 intersection.

Although they did have the BRAND NEW PONG video game in the bar/restaurant (First time seeing one!).

Since then, and over 2 dozen trips to WDW later, we sadly still have never stayed at the Contemporary....

I did have 2 nights scheduled at the Consierge Level there on one trip, but had to give them up (Frying pan to the head from the wife)...

I will fullfill my dream one day... I'm almost afraid to... because it will sadly bring an end to a very long term goal...

Does this help you with your decision? probably not, but your decision with which of two fantastic resorts sure brings back some great memories....

Have a great trip!

22 days to go until our next trip.
