Contemporary Tower Rooms

Hi! I'm new to this board and I absolutely love all the new information I am learning. I just want to say I'm glad there are so many people in love with Disney as me and my mom! :king:
During Spring Break, we stayed in one of the Contemporary's South Garden Wing rooms on the 2nd floor and it was so noisy! We heard the people next door, the people below us, and the people above us jumping on and off the beds! We requested to switch rooms, but it was going to be such a hassle, so we just stuck it out. We are going July 6th, when the rates have gone down so we decided to splurge and stay in the Tower room. What should we expect in
the differences between the 2. Noise, privacy, convienence. Which do those of you prefer. We don't care much about being close to the pool (which the SGW was), but just being close to the lobby. We are also excited about the different views we might get.
The Contemporary's best thing is being able to walk over to MK..it's so easy to come and go as you please, you don't feel as locked in and you aren't as pressured to run out and catch a bus.
Also, how crowded are the parks usually after the 4th? We will be there the 6th-12th. In the books, it is considered the "value" season. We also hope that since Shades of Green is under construction/renovation or whatever and since they are moving their visitors into the Contemporary, that will be just that LESS people to be in the parks this month. Thank you all so much for your time!

I've stayed in both the garden and tower rooms, and really didn't notice much noise. You may have been experiencing more noise because of Spring Break...generally "younger" crowd, and the rooms were probably all filled.

It is definitely a shorter walk to the elevators from your room than it was from the wings to the main building. I also felt the tower rooms were "brighter" than the garden rooms. The views are certainly better!

The parks are still going to be pretty crowded. Interestingly, the value seasons differ from hotel to hotel, so that isn't always the best guide. It won't be as crowded as Spring Break or Christmas Break, but things won't be 20 min or less waits everywhere, either.

Since you're so close to MK, and I assume you'll have parkhoppers, you might want to do 2 early mornings there to hit all of the e-rides, then go back to swim before the rain, and rest during the showers, then head to MGM or Epcot for dinner and touring later. Then do one early morning at Epcot (for Test Track), and one at AK (so you can escape the heat) then do more park hopping for the rest of the day. I don't go to water parks, but you might want to fit one in on your other morning. Perhaps you'll be lucky and have one early shower (around noon) during your stay. I've heard that if you travel either during the storm or as soon as it ends, you can get to the water parks after everyone else has left because of the storm, and as they're reopening.

Awww :( you speak as if rain is guaranteed! But you probably are right. We will try to take advantage of Tuesday's E-Night. We are probably going to skip AK..not one of our faves, and it is just so hard to get around. It is a long trip from our resort, and everytime we go, never seems worth it. I love animals, and I volunteer at the Louisville Zoo...but AK just is a big disapointment every time we go. We won't be going to any water parks, since we don't have PH Plus tickets, but don't really have any interest since it's just me & my mom. But we will follow your advice on getting there early, as you can see we will be spending plenty of time at MK, our fave, since I have just ruled out AK and Water Parks. Thanks again! I can't wait to see the tower room!

well i'm going to go ahead and tell yooh... rain is gauranteed especially for july. but don't feel to bad, i'm staying at the contemporary at the same time as yooh are. we'll have similar experiences. i don't think that moving the visitors from shades of green to contemporary will help in parks being crowded. i have friends in the service and they felt more attracted to the idea of staying at the contemporary for shades of green rates. i'll be around the tennis courts or the nearest DDR machine... hope to see yooh there

i go on the 5th to the 19th and although we expect there to be a lot of rain...im pretty sure there will be more than a few days of sunshine. Weve gone to WDW at this time before and we have always had some sunshine so dont worry.

This time of year, rain is almost a daily thing. The good news is that it's seldom an all day thing... Expect it in the afternoons around 2:30 or so. This time of year, the less violent rains can actually be a welcome thing with how hot it can be in the parks this time of day. :)

Shame on you! Animal Kingdom is my favorite!

How could you miss Animal Kingdom? I would expect long waits. I've been at both Spring Break, and during July, and I would much rather prefer Spring Break...but, you'll have fun anyway! Enjoy the Tower room! I like them better than the garden rooms!
