Don't know if anyone noticed it, but it looks like the individual soap/shampoo containers have been replaced by a bulk dispenser in the shower.

Remember its about $1000 a night.

So the more expensive it is, the more you should be allowed to waste? Individual soap and shampoo containers are ridiculously unnecessary and I support any move to get rid of them.

I made a reservation over two years ago and have been making monthly payments on my upcoming Disney vacation. My twin sons are turning 24 this year, grew up going to Disney and along with my wife, really wanted to attend the 50th anniversary. I’m really not that excited about going and have kind of moved on from the Disney vacations we used to take. I am not rich by any means and I work two jobs to get where I’m currently at. My original goal was to stay at the cabins, then my family had a few meetings and I asked why can’t we stay at one of the deluxe resorts for probably our last trip ever to Disney? I went along with it, but I was always hoping that I would get a deal in the summertime, at least 25% to make this vacation more affordable. This most likely will be my last ever trip, so don’t assume that I’m some rich, out of touch person just wildly spending money at a deluxe resort, which I really don’t think they are worth the price anymore. Thank you
I was just trying to make a joke about your name being Mr Moderate and and not staying at a moderate.

If I ever go back to Orlando in the next couple of years, I plan on staying at cabana Bay. I’ve priced the rooms and they are far more reasonable and I see no reason to ever say on site at Disney World ever again. I know some people will say that’s sacrilegious, but Disney has long ago priced themselves out of the regular family market. Universal seems to understand that and their moderate and value hotels are reasonably priced and pretty decent too.
We’ve actually stayed at cabana bay and went to Disney several times. The traffic between the two can be a bit much some times, but if you enjoy universal it’s great for the perks

Thank you for replying and I understand now as it wasn’t clear before. In all honesty, part of me feels sick spending this money and I’m kind of stuck between a rock a hard place as I made a promise to my two autistic twin boys and I’m trying to make our last trip onsite, one to remember. If a discount comes out for the October time frame, it be easier to handle the cost and thankfully I’m done paying.

20 years ago when my family started our WDW journey and became fans, DVC owners, now former, to what we are now, I would have never thought the company would be doing what they are today. It seems like such a huge disconnect between them and reality. Just my honest opinion.

I totally get it. I feel the same way about how the company has changed over the last couple decades. To take a family of 4 to a deluxe resort is asking a lot from any non upper class family. When I was a child my parents booked moderates for us and I’ve only stayed at values as an adult. Ive never stayed at a deluxe and booked the contemporary this October to cross off a bucket list item I’ve always wanted to do. I obviously don’t know your financial situation but I’d just try to look at this trip as one last hurrah and enjoy it as much as possible and then look at taking your vacations elsewhere for a while. I know the thought has crossed my mind over the last 12 months of cuts.

Exactly. Why they didn’t go the Disneyland Hotel route for the 50th anniversary is a true mystery.
I’m just glad to see that It just isn’t me who feels that way. I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel both before and after the renovations in 2010 and those remodeled rooms were just fantastic. As soon as I seen them I thought to myself why doesn’t Disney do this with a contemporary in a similar fashion and give it that special touch that only they could do with the company’s history. One of the many things that stood out to me when I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel after the remodel, is the amount of history that they had around the hotel and near Goofy’s kitchen, they had the pictures of all the celebrities and politicians that visited Disneyland hotel since it’s inception. I truly found that fascinating. To ignore such a rich history of the early days of Walt Disney World and the contemporary resort and Pay tribute to the resort that the fans would love, just doesn’t make sense.

That’s why I said in my earlier post that Disney truly is out of touch and tone deaf with their customer base.

I like the color a lot better than what is there now. The Incredibles touches are a little much, but not too much. I could do without them, but at least the rooms aren’t so dark.

Any thoughts on if there will be much done to the rest of the resort? I feel like we have three designs here. I love the lobby, convention level and California Grill, and they all seem to coordinate together. Then you have the mess that is the Grand Canyon concourse with its 50 different carpet patterns and 90s mall food court, and then a third style with the new uncredible rooms. At least the rooms before matched the lobby aesthetic. Is there any desire to bring cohesion?

I really hope they do not make all of the rooms look like that. It is way too cartoonish and looks like a moderate resort. It was much nicer and high class before. I could not imagine paying Contemporary prices for a cartoon room.

I love the movie, but do not think it fits in with a room that is supposed to be the 2nd nicest on property after the GF.
