I like it enough except for the orange closet doors. But I also like the Incredibles, 60s aesthetics, and I've never liked the Contemporary... so it's kind of all a step up in my mind.

These new IP rooms don't bother me as much as my brain tells me they should.

What concerns me is potentially losing the breakfast buffet at Wave / Steakhouse 71 lol.

Don't know if anyone noticed it, but it looks like the individual soap/shampoo containers have been replaced by a bulk dispenser in the shower.

Remember its about $1000 a night.

The real issue is lack of privacy for the person taking the shower. Not an issue for couples. But it is one for families and friends. This was the same complaint I had for some other recent refurb (but can't remember which one).

These are value rooms forced into a deluxe hotel. It’s sad.
It's the same problem with the Grand Floridan "Flagship". At close to $1000 per night I'd like services commensurate with a luxury hotel. The Grand Flo and the Contemporary don't even come close. If the appeal is that you're steps away from the MK, book a 5 star room at the Four Seasons, and get a limo to drop you off at any park. It would still be a better experience than the crap which falls under the deluxe category.

I wonder what the thread count of the Frozone bed's linens is?

1000%. The new JW is just as close to Epcot and DHS as many of the Disney hotels, yet costs 1/3 of the price and is stunning all around.

You don't shower with your clothes on?

You're a penguin anyway....what do you care?

Yeah, that's really the question, isn't it? Not just with the soap, but with everything about the redesign. Not whether you like it or not, but whether you like it at $1,000/night.

When is it $1,000 a night? Just curious because when I have searched its always been around 450 to 500 with discounts.

We've never stayed in the Contemporary before but have visited it quite a number of times usually to rent a boat, followed by a look around and a quick drink or snack. We would always get free valet parking due to me having a UK disabled parking badge. One thing I always noticed when we were waiting for our car being returned by the valet, was the number of really rich looking people pulling up to the entrance. They'd stand out quite often as many fitted the stereotype. By that I mean, flash car, expensive clothes and making no eye contact with the CM's hovering around them to take their bags etc. As my wife said to me last time whilst we watched this spectacle "Only rich ladies are going to wear tights in this heat" :D

It's these type of rich people I can't imagine being happy with Incredibles theming in their rooms, it just seems an odd fit. Perhaps I'm misjudging the average guest or maybe Disney thinks "Let them stay at another of our hotels if they prefer"? It doesn't really bother me one way or the other, but it does seem an odd choice to me I must admit.

Also problematic for colleagues at a convention, sharing a room. Frosted tempered glass would've been a better choice.

I think this fall would be when it’s $1,000 a night considering there are no discounts for the fall and it’s fully booked.

Exactly. Main tower on the lake side does drop to just over $700 shortly after the Christmas holidays when bookings are traditionally slower and at that point, they might offer discounts (but haven't yet.) But during that same time, TPV Atrium Club rooms are still well over $1000.

The poly and the contemporary? Not exactly living up to your name are you? And yeah, $800 a night for this is pretty steep.
I made a reservation over two years ago and have been making monthly payments on my upcoming Disney vacation. My twin sons are turning 24 this year, grew up going to Disney and along with my wife, really wanted to attend the 50th anniversary. I’m really not that excited about going and have kind of moved on from the Disney vacations we used to take. I am not rich by any means and I work two jobs to get where I’m currently at. My original goal was to stay at the cabins, then my family had a few meetings and I asked why can’t we stay at one of the deluxe resorts for probably our last trip ever to Disney? I went along with it, but I was always hoping that I would get a deal in the summertime, at least 25% to make this vacation more affordable. This most likely will be my last ever trip, so don’t assume that I’m some rich, out of touch person just wildly spending money at a deluxe resort, which I really don’t think they are worth the price anymore. Thank you

Meanwhile, Universal throws some subtle shade ...

If I ever go back to Orlando in the next couple of years, I plan on staying at cabana Bay. I’ve priced the rooms and they are far more reasonable and I see no reason to ever say on site at Disney World ever again. I know some people will say that’s sacrilegious, but Disney has long ago priced themselves out of the regular family market. Universal seems to understand that and their moderate and value hotels are reasonably priced and pretty decent too.
