I took this cell phone pic of the expansion area from atop the Astro Orbiter last night.:lookaroun

If I do this every night for the next three years, we'll have an
awesome time-lapse of the whole construction!

Rofl!

I can picture every "Construction Update" having every picture blurred like the one above. It'd be priceless and give Mice Age's updates a run for their money

One article I read, can't remember where, stated flatly that the area they're landscaping is outside of the utilidor system, and this is why they can incorporate more water features and landscape grading.

So they are digging and laying the foundations for a 'first floor' addition, it
would seem.

That would make for some interesting site lines and also topographic features. Can't wait.

Based on the blueprints, at least some of the buildings will have a lower-level below the level of the walkways in the Expansion. But as they're part of the building itself, it can't really be considered Utilidor level, as they won't be directly connected.
On the leaked blueprints, you can see that there will be some kind of loading dock area on the lower level under the Be Our Guest kitchen area.

It's also been rumored/presumed that the Little Mermaid show building will be two-level, with the ride loading on the *upper* level and then the ride descending to the lower level.

I can't wait to start seeing some of the photos from the construction. I'd love to see some aerial or satellite shots as well.....

thank you for posting this
i like the comment made at the end about how typically the models are a clear indication of how everything will turn out. Looks like most wont change from here out

The model isn't correct, at least for Pixie Hollow and some other things.

I can remember when they filled in 20K and excitement and specualtion around what would eventually replace it. Those were some fun times around here. We never predicted this. It's nice that it'll finally be more than a playground.

oh?? care to share what the new info is reagarding that area?
if not i understand why not ;)

Sure.
Look at the blueprints (not the model).
Then remove Pixie Hollow from the center part of the eastern section of the expansion.
There you have it.

That area was built on fill, so they could dig down a good 12-15 feet before getting to the actual ground level, I think.
Kinda funny when you think about it. Wasn't that long ago that they were filling in a big hole back there.
12-15, that's it? I thought there was a higher elevation up there.

Even that should make the views of the castle rather more impressive from the new areas.

I have to laugh at the video. Even Imagineers have handlers these days

Been thinking about that. We'll be getting a lot of views of CC's backside from very far away now. We've never had that. Same thing for the FL shots in Wishes.

I think the added elevation (by subtraction ) should provide some amazing vistas. It will also work in the same way for Beast's castle and create a sense of isolation from the rest of the MK. I get more optimistic about this project by the day.

Exactly. I get that sense, too. A brand new land with amazing aesthetics. I'm hyped up just for that!
