News Construction Underway on Fourth Wish Class Ship

Yes there are some design flaws. But are they really that important as older cruisers make them out to be? Two elevator banks vs three. I mean who cares? Smaller adult pool area. Yes its worse but all the ships have small adult pool areas. It doesnt really change my experience of the ship. You cant swim in any of them. Walking track. As a runner i miss it. But its hardly in use on the original ships in terms of running. I doubt most people who complain so much about it actually used it. Plus for walkers there is still a track with a glorious stunning view of the sea and front of the ship that the older ships dont have. No one appreciates this. Cos they dont have nostalgia for it.

And what about the things wish does better?

Which elevator bank was eliminated? That seems like it could be a big one and have a decent impact elevator wait times. Unless enough people who would have otherwise taken the elevator take the stairs instead.

Elevator wait times? Is this really a big issue?
Plus its not even true that wish has higher elevator wait times.

Walking the stairs on the ships is so much fun with the art work and disney music. I would be happy if there was no elevators.

I mean it could be for people with strollers or wheelchairs

I was on the Treasure and I preferred the way the bars were scattered around the ship. You could pass by and hear the music or see what was going on - it created a livelier atmosphere than the bars all hidden in the back on the Fantasy.

When I hear of design flaws I think of something more fundamental than preferences.

We liked the elevators better on the Treasure; they seemed larger. Also, the midship elevators on the Fantasy were so crowded we rarely used them.

Yes sometimes when you went to the bars on fantasy the whole area was dead and it was unclear if they were even open.

I also way prefer the theming on the wish class bars.

What could be? There is no evidence that elevator wait times are longer on the wish class. Some surveys suggest the opposite.

The mid ship elevator wait times were notoriously slow on the older ships. While i gather the other two elevator banks were significantly underused outside dinner and theatre times. By having two banks you can argue they utilise them more efficiently on the wish class.

The wish class has more elevators than any of the other ships.

Oh so more actual elevators but one less elevator bank. Quick google search tells me they got rid of the midship elevator bank. I have to imagine that has somewhat of a negative impact on navigating the ship but maybe not a huge deal for those without strollers wheelchairs. The elderly and those with young kids might not love it either.

Honestly, it felt like we pretty much always waited longer for elevators on the Fantasy than the Treasure. I can’t believe people are finding this to be a design flaw.

If you are midship and you need to now make your way to the front or back of the ship to go up or down that’s a negative impact is it not?
They arent way up the front or back though. And people arent always midship. They are often not.

And once at the elevators the wait times are likely less then before.

I haven’t been on the Treasure or Wish but how can it not be a downgrade for the elderly, those with young kids, strollers or wheelchairs to have to make their way to the front or back of the ships to go up or down.

Maybe it’s because I’m more used to WDW but I don’t think of the short walks on the ship to be a factor. It only takes a few minutes to get from the front of the ship to the back.

How does this prove it has “nothing” to do with it?
Your argument seems to be that the Wish class could score highly amongst first time cruisers because they don’t know what they are missing on the original 4 ship.

If that were the case then the original 4 ships should score equally or greater amongst those who cruise for the first time on those ships because they would be experiencing what you claim the others are missing. However that is not the case. Guests who have their first cruise on the Magic/Dream class consistently rate those ships lower than guests who have their first cruise on the Wish Class.

True but even if 1/3 of the time they are mid ship that would be a downgrade and less convenient. How much can be debated.
At some point though it seems the convenience difference is so slight as to be negligible.

No one seemed to be having any difficulty finding their way around the Treasure and the elevator lobbies were rarely crowded.

The forward and aft elevators on the wish class aren’t really all the way forward or aft. They more or less divide the ship into thirds.

Assuming the data is correct, this still doesn’t mean it has “nothing” to do with it. The things they don’t know they are “missing out on” can be offset by things they like about the Wish. Not everything has an = value. Not saying first time cruisers don’t enjoy the Wish more. I’m saying the claim that it has nothing to do with it is false. One can value the new things the ship has to offer more than some of the things that were changed that the OG 4 ships did better.

I would love to try the Magic or Wonder some day.

I tend to go into things with a pretty open mind and find both positives and negatives. For example, the adult pool section on the Treasure was too small but I preferred the location of the bars.

But trying to get other people to agree with your personal preferences seems unnecessary.
