Construction between Contemporary and TTC

I could see them doing it if not for the Liberty Belle needing to go through there. Unfortunately...

As it is, the sidewalks really do solve the access issue while posing no real logistical challenges and doable on a budget consisting of shoelaces and pocket lint. The only issue there is that Disney is unwilling to expand pedestrian access - possibly because of unfounded risk aversion or possibly for less charitable reasons. My hypothesizing about a dedicated bridge aside, I'd be more than happy to just be given pedestrian access to World Drive.
I honestly don't think they put any walking access in if they add a hotel there. I don't see them allowing people to walk alongside an active road unless they put up 12 ft fences. Even crossing the street from the Contemporary to walk to MK is an abberation. I just think it's too large a safety risk.

So unless they were to dig a pedestrian tunnel and rework the bus station and the path from CR, it seems that Monorail and boat or bus and boat would be what you get.

When they used to have the tram from TTC to MK, did that take the tunnel for the roadway? I’d assume it did. I guess anything is possible, but I would think the most logical would be under the canal some how. Unless there is some kind of BLT type bridge to the contemporary or bus structure area in connection with whatever gets built there, I don’t see a Springs type bridge making sense.

The Tram at the TTC goes under a tunnel...from the MK parking lot to the TTC.

Found it. I couldn’t find any info with a google search, but should have known I probably saw it in a Martin video.
I was asking because I was wondering if there was a special way it was accomplished or a bridge or something, but being it was just temporary, I’d assume it just went up the road and back.

AFAIK, the tram just went on the roadway. One of the old guard management has a story about how one time a tram got stuck in the tunnel, I think. But I don't remember the details.

Yeah, I think it's ultimately too large a liability risk - the safety risk is unfounded and the only thing actually threatened by walkers is Disney's legal team (and possibly its security team.)

Very unfortunate in any case.

Yep. Original versions, made by United Tractor in Indiana couldn't make the climb. WED had initially spec'd CNG trams, but corporate decided to buy these off the shelf gasoline powered units. They blew transmissions, overheated, had parts literally falling off on the incline at the Lagoon Underpass. Bob Gurr, who had done the design work for the CNG trams, was brought in to fix the issue (after they had booted him from the tram tasking when they decided to go with the OTS models). He ended up adding "power-packs" to them, and removed a bunch of the engine-driven accessories. They worked, and then got replaced with the initially spec'd CNG units.

Wasn't just one, it was most of the original United Tractor units.

I can source the claims, but don't want to link outside in the thread

According to the ADA, the maximum allowable grade is 12 feet of run for every foot of rise on a ramp and a landing is necessary every 3 feet of rise; so we're looking at a minimum of 17 landings and 600 linear feet of ramp not counting those landings... or a pair of elevators. (EDIT: and this would be 600 feet of an 8.33% grade, which is a pretty punishing climb for the uninitiated - there's a world of difference between that and the 4% I consider tolerable in my answer below. If you want 4% here, it's going to be 1250 linear feet - just under a quarter mile.)
1,200 ft is doable. (And there's more space for a run on the other side).

But then again, as I've said, it can be a lower draw bridge that's tall enough for the daily traffic and only has to open for the River Boat.

If a resort is built in the vicinity, the ramp on that side can go through it's second or third floor (or make a nice viewing balcony for fireworks).

Humor me as I like the idea of a bridge starting from the 2nd or 3rd floor. What prevents them from having an elevator on the other side (non resort bank, like the ones at disney springs)?
