Connections Cafe and Eatery

That's definitely a very unflattering angle -- if you told me that was the world's largest McDonald's, I'd believe you -- but luckily we know there are at least some other things going on in other areas of the place.
This is just the Starbucks area, the other side, like you said, has a lot more things going on. This actually looks very similar to the former fountain view Starbucks

More from I believe the same Instagram user that blank Starbucks wall image was taken from, screenshots taken from their story, but there’s a carousel post of images in the grid too.

I was trying to be discreet as to where the photo came from because I don’t think they were supposed to be taking/posting photos during the preview and didn’t want the cast member to get in trouble. Since that cat is out of the bag I will remove my original post.
Totally. I too really hope that the CM doesn’t get into any trouble for this. Since they intentionally made it so searchable by adding the geolocation, #epcot and #creationscafe hashtags, I assume that they meant for it to be found and that it’s fine to be shared. I hope that is the case!

I don't dislike this as much as I do in the context of the overall Spine design. I think if Connections had been the large-scale main eatery - i.e. pretty low on the list of "attractions" in the Spine - it's perfectly. The issue is this is being rolled out when we have no clue what so much of this project will look like and years before they are ready. It's being pitched like an attraction itself where it really is (and should only be) a bit player.

Indeed. It is a modern Electric Umbrella. An aesthetic, not a unique experience restaurant. It serves its purpose and like much of Disney these days, is a sort of a weird meta montage of nostalgia theme to things that are not what they used to be. Random Figment and other characters over bits of Futureworld.
