I am frustrated with the ridiculously slow pace of Epcot but have to say I’ve been pleasantly surprised with what they’ve completed so far (minus the ugly barges staying out during the day).

The new entrance in infinitely better than the tombstones, the new light show on SE is incredible, I love they've returned to the white retro look, I prefer the new show to illuminations (which is probably not a popular opinion), guardians is sounding like it’s going to be incredible, I’m not a massive fan of Rat but it replaced a dirt lot so that’s a win, the Skyliner has been a massive success, I even like the clean modern store looks to the cluttered Mouse Gears…

It’s far from perfect and I still agree some doesn’t belong in Epcot but also think all of it has been an improvement over what was there when they started.

I still don’t entirely understand what they are filling all of that space from FoN and Innoventions West with. A waterfall walkthrough doesn’t seem that big. Some trees and a small fountain? I feel like the space could be better-utilized.

I'm not sure they know what they're filling it with either, especially since they're not building the festival center.

Dreamers Point + Moana will only take up a fraction of the space they've cleared out.

And if the point of all this was to add more greenery and water to the center of the park, then why get rid of the park's biggest fountain?

Like all of new EPCOT, it's 2 steps back for every step forward.

Makes me wonder why they haven't started this work in earnest when you look at what is/was planned.

Step 1 - Create renderings and send them out to get the shareholders excited.
Step 2 - Confirm the stock price went up in response to the renderings.
Step 3 - Now make all the cuts you intended to do regardless of what's shown in the renderings.
Step 4 - Blame the cuts on something, this was easy, blame it on COVID.
Step 5 - Take too long to finish the substandard work because we know folks are gonna show up anyway..

I’m hopeful this is a case of prep work taking forever and finish work going fast.

I’d settle for Artist point, the smaller fountain, and Moana at this point, just fill the rest in with greenery and paths (and kiosks) until they figure out what they’re doing with a permanent building.

After the years EPCOT's spine has spent holed up behind walls, if they don't get it right this time it'll be another 20 years before they try again. They won't be diving into another construction project that bricks up the center of the park any time soon.

Fingers crossed they find a way to nail it before the walls come down.
