Confiscated Items

i have seen people take coolers with wheels on them into blizzard beach and typhoon lagoon they pull drinks out of them like soda, water and food like chips and stuff. i dont see anthing wrong with taking food/drinks into the water parks (i dont do it coz it knocks me sick when sand gets on the food and in the drinks :hurl: ) but people take the ________ when they dont stop pulling stuff out of the coolers like its mary poppins bag.:lol:

We've been going to WDW for about 5 years now and we've always taken a "small" soft sided rolling cooler with us. My husband pulls it along with a small bag that I pack with our ponchos and change of clothes for our son. It's really not that big of deal and security always checks it. I've never had a problem, but then again I would never put alcohol in it. It's too darn hot!

What would you do with those when you're in the park, anyways?? Put them with the other coolers in the cooler parking? Plus, if you left them even for a moment, how could you be sure of other people staying out of them?

what you use them for is putting food or drinks in them to keep them cool. if the cooler is on wheels its easier to pull around especially on sand than lugging bags around.if i saw people with a cooler i certainly wouldnt go looking in it when there not there -thats just not right!!

when people used them when i saw them they got picnic tables and put the cooler on the table and sunbathed by the table by lying on a towel or something.

did you ever consider that some people including me go to the water parks to get some rays (while wearing sun lotion) and not to go into the water.

Sigh. I know what a cooler is used for. That part was me being facetious. It just seems to me like another piece of baggage to lug around on a hot and crowded day inside a theme park. Plus there are a lot of people on boards that already complain (I am NOT one of them) about being run over by ECVs and strollers, so why not add coolers on wheels to the list?

And I certainly was not accusing anyone of stealing food, but I still would not leave a cooler of any type unattended especially in such a busy place as this. I just don't trust people that much. So my question was directed at time and baggage handling in the Theme parks, not water parks. I think it's perfectly reasonable for them to limit these coolers.

Also, why would it matter what you go to a water park for? I'm not sure where that even came from??

I'm sorry but I just don't understand people like this. Maybe it is because I don't have kids yet but I don't see the point in dragging that much crap around for one kid. They act like everything thats in those diaper bags is completely irreplaceable and there is no hope of ever being able to find those things anywhere else. Eh, maybe my views will change once I have kids but i doubt it. This guy on line in front of me was hysterical though. He was thoroughly upset that he couldnt bring in all this stuff. He even went as far as to tell the security people that if he couldn't bring the stuff in they should hold it for him so he didnt have to take the time to go back to the car. The security guys looked like it was all they could do to not burst out laughing. Sheer ignorance I say. What I was wondering is how this guy even got this far with the ginormous cooler. If he had taken the boat over from the parking lot he surely had to have passed numerous CM's who would have had the opportunity to say something. Oh well, I guess it didnt fall into their job description.

You will change your tune once you have kids. Babies and toddlers go thru diapers and clothes like crazy. And I haven't had to buy diapers at Disney, because my DD is older, but I couldn't imagine paying the price they would charge for them. I don't know about other mothers but when I carried a diaper bag I also used it as a purse so I didn't have to carry one. All in one. You put a lot of stuff in one of those. :wave:

what do you mean you can never tell if im being serious?

i agree i would not pull along a cooler anywhere but i can see why people do take them full with food or drinks coz its saving them money and i personally think its a good idea, say a family of 7 went and think of how much they would spend in a park what with drinks and food where as if they took a cooler full of food and drinks they would save money.
i dont have a problem with it just as long as they clear up after themselves.

I saw a guard confiscate an 8 year old girl once.

Actually, truth be told, I asked the guard to confiscate my little sister for the day so she wouldn't annoy me. As I always wanted to be the entertainer, I was quite loud about it. (This was a couple of decades ago.) Everyone around found it to be quite funny...well, everyone but my mom, dad and sister. Obviously, we did nothing I wanted to all day and everything my sister wanted.....

Agreed. Before I had kids I was the one making fun of other people for dragging those huge diaper bags around. Now I AM one of those people. It seems kind of silly to lug around big bags but you would not believe how easy it is to fill a bag. The younger they are the more you can fill the bag. Mine now are 3 and 5, so we don't need such a big bag but it is inevitable, if I don't bring it I need it. I would go broke buying all the items I forgot to bring with me. Better safe then sorry (or broke!). LOL :lol:

When I worked Quick Service Food and Beverage at Magic Kingdom we opened a lot of boxes. I had at least 5 box cutters in my purse at all times. Never once did a security guard say anything about them.

I love watching the things security pours out that they take from people. It's usually beer but I was sad when i watched a whole bottle of Crown Royal get poured out along with a bottle of captain morgan's. Those are the common things. I've also seen the film taken from guests but that was after a guy started poking his head backstage and taking pictures.

As for coolers, guests are supposed to check them at locker rental but they never do even if you tell them they have too. Once they get past the train station, they are pretty much already in.

Also, in a rare case, I did see security let a wagon in to the park. It was in lew of a wheelchair. Special circumstances since each case is different.

Since we fly I usually don't have anything I can't bring on the airplane like my knife, I have never seen them take anything or ask someone to take soething back to their car.

My brother-in-law is a Type I Diabetic and they always hassle him about his needles until he shows them his drivers license (thankfully FL DL states if someone is a diabetic).
