Condition of the Tomorrowland Speedway

I didn't care for the Disneyland version when I was a kid in California. Loud, smelly and the steering never worked. And of course everyone crashing at the finish.

But on a really hot afternoon at MK that grandstand is a nice place to get out of the sun. Get an ice cream or cold drink and watch the chaos. A lot more fun than the ride.

Tear it down?! Kids love it...I love it. I love the sounds and the smells. Its nostalgia. Its timeless. All kids love driving!
I got this photo a couple years ago when I road it with one of our best disney friend's daughter...
The look of fear of her father grabbing the wheel while his daughter just cheeses away. Its incredibly awesome! Let's ride it forever!

I'm just floored by all the people who have had a hard time steering the cars. It's not like you have free reign of the entire track. But there's plenty of room to steer and not hit the center rail (unless something's horribly broken).

I am pretty sure my car needed an alignment last time we rode it. Probably a tie rod and track bar too. I am not a professional driver, but competent enough to keep the car straight, - and we could not. The last half of the track I found it was best to just hold the wheel from moving at all, then it followed the guide better than I could steer, and didn't continue to bounce back and forth. I do not think anybody can make it around that course and not hit the rail.

I've raced cars in autocross and similar competitions and I couldn't keep the car straight, it definitely had mechanical issues.

Also, regarding the popularity...what's the hourly capacity? It seems VERY low

I have been on this ride many many time, I never expect an e-ticket but its a basic ride that reminds me of a simpler time. Its basic and fun for the kids and gives them a chance to drive a car that all kids want to do with their mom or dad. It seems like a ride that Walt would have wanted in his park. Brings family together.
I don't see anything wrong with it. sometimes simple is good enough.

I don't mind it, I would only be glad to see it go for another attraction, so long as that attraction does not consist of shopping/character meets or a film showing what is basically advertising....

I think I would be much more tolerant of this attraction if it didn't feel like it took up so much space. I mean, the total footprint of this ride is essentially the same size as Space Mountain! I have nothing against this type of attraction and I think it's a great option for families, so I wouldn't want to see this ride type go completely, just see the ride in it's current format go. A version of this attraction that is only one or two lanes wide but has neat/futuristic looking electric cars that weaves in/around/under/over Tomorrowland would be a neat alternative. Alternatively, there is supposedly a new E-Ticket coming to Fronteirland... how bout also having a highly themed car ride through the wilderness similar to Universal Singapore's Treasure Hunters attraction?

if you looked at this photo and don't see the beauty in it then your senses have been dulled by video games and techy stuff.

Pretty much anything would be better than this tired old ride.
20,000 Leagues was just as popular if not more popular and they closed that ride and let it rot for years...at least an update of some sort should happen to this ride. It is an absolute joke the current state it's in.

I posted this a while back on somewhere re. the Speedway.
Much as I think it's lame, a waste of space, and far below Disney's standards, a place that I've walked right past for years...
On my last trip to WDW when my boys were 12 years of age - we rode the Speedway with the boys driving and had a blast.
A lot of family fun.
I'll still take a new 20K ride though. (I know that'll never happen.)
