Computer/PS2 game to create and ride roller coasters?

I promise this has a little something to do with the WDW parks... :)

I'm trying to get my daughter more comfortable with roller coasters, so I thought I'd look for a game (computer or PS2) that lets her build then ride a roller coaster. Many years ago, when I was a kid, there was a set of touch screen monitors at EPCOT that let you assemble some pieces of a coaster (it would let you know when two pieces couldn't work together), then it would simulate a ride on the coaster, as though you were in the front car. I LOVED this thing. :)

I've heard of Roller Coaster Tycoon, but I don't want a Sim-City type of game. I just want something that lets her build a bunch of coasters and "ride" them.

Thanks!

I have SimCoaster. You might be able to find it on amazon.com or another site like that. It was a bit running a theme-park oriented, but you were able to build and ride coasters. I also have a Disney game where you build a Disney theme park or something like that but I never had much luck with it. Another suggestion for getting your daughter to ride the rides is go to mousegeeks.com. They have some on-ride video of some of the coasters like BTM and Expeidtion Everest.

On the latest version of RTC, you can pick a version where you don't have to pay for anything. It isn't very business oriented.

There is actully a Disney Imagineering game where all you do is design coasters, and create themes for your parks. If I can think of the name I'll post it here. It is for computer and it is someone around my computer desk so I'll keep you posted

I have been playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3D for a while now...It does have a "Sandlot" Mode that you go into and you plop down a coaster (they have ones already made for you if you don't want to make one) and then board it and ride away.

There are many games that are great to try to build and simulate coasters.

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, SimCoaster, Disney Coaster, and coming out soon will be Thrill Park made by Lucas Arts. They all allow you to build coasters and then ride them.

For just building a coaster without managing a park, you best bets are Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 with its Roller Coaster Track Manager and/or Sand Box mode, and Disney Coaster. RCT3 has a lot of different coaster types to choose from, but Disney does have many props straight from the parks that you can use. Hope that helps! :D

Out of the games available, I think that RCTycoon 3 would be the best. I feel it is the easiest and most realistic for the average computer user. The sandbox mode doesn't have any limits on money or types of coasters to build. I thought the Disney Coaster game was a little bit difficult and rather cartoonish.

If you don't want to buy the games, there are a few websites around that have POVs of many coasters out there.

have the most info in my opinion.

Ultimate Ride Coaster: Disney Edition. It's the only way to go. It's pretty cool and easy to use, especially for kids. And it includes Disney characters taking their test rides. You won't be disappointed!
