Trip Report *Completed!* The "pick a celebration and stick with it!" Trip Report :)

My husband and I have just returned from six wonderful days at WDW! The trip could not have gone better. I seriously did not want to leave.

I won't delve too far into the background here, because it's all in my pre-trip report here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/because-im-driving-myself-crazy.882149/ Don't want to read all that? No problem. Here's the Reader's Digest version:

The cast:

My husband and me:

With guest appearances by our dear friends Jason,Karissa, Neil, and Barbara (pictures of them to appear later).

The reason:

Pick one!

1) DH and I have both had weight loss surgery (the gastric sleeve, to be exact) and maintained our goal weights for over two years. For before and after pics, see the pre-trip report. He's lost over 200 pounds, and I've lost 130. We both have our health back!
2) I had been unemployed for several months and finally found a new job in January.
3) We were celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary (May 27th, but since I teach, we couldn't go anywhere until after school got out).
4) Add numbers one, two, and three, and what do you get? The go ahead to stop taking birth control, that's what!

So, yeah... this trip was a "celebrating weight loss/return to gainful employment/wedding anniversary/conceptionmoon (yes, apparently that's really a thing- I had to Google it to get the name of it) trip."

And, if the trip had had just one more drop of pixie dust, I would seriously think we were dreaming the whole time. Maybe we were...

The when, where, and how:

On May 31, we drove down to Orlando from Atlanta and spent the night with our friends Jason and Karissa. They live just outside of Orlando and were kind enough to let us crash at their place the night before our check in so that we would be refreshed for the parks the next day. On Sunday, June 1, we checked in at the Pop at eleven and stayed there until Saturday, June 7, when we drove home.

And now, let the report begin! :)

I totally enjoyed your trip report. I just wanted to let you know that reading it inspired me to set a weight loss goal. Reading about you and your husband celebrating your accomplishments was the push I needed. I've lost nine pounds since mid-June and looking to lose another twenty. I thought you'd be interested to know how you helped a random person on the internet!

You, friend, have made my night! Thank you so much for reading and for coming back and sharing this with me :) Congratulations on your loss so far. You've got this!

So, I have some even bigger news than what I shared recently about my career change! I know this doesn't really have to do with my trip to WDW, but it's sort of an update on something I've already mentioned in the thread, so I figured it was just as appropriate here as anywhere else.

You may recall from my first post in this thread that DH and I had agreed that it was time to stop taking birth control pills.

Well...

My estimated due date is April 13th!

That's right! This has truly been the most magical summer I have had in years... new job in a school I had been dying to get into (even moreso with people who really seem to think the same way I do), coaching opportunities, and now I can officially say I'm going to be a mother, which is something I've wanted desperately for almost a decade!

This is all too good to be true! It doesn't feel real yet... I'm starting to wonder when this will sink in lol.

Prayers and warm wishes are much appreciated right now. I'll admit I'm a bit terrified, but I'm beyond excited!

And he or she will be a great speller too.;)

Wouldn't it be funny if you gave the baby a "misspelled" name? :joyfull:

Hilarious! :)

I don't know how we could pull that off with our boy name, unless we went with spelling it phonetically instead of the traditional way (it's only four letters), but with the girl name we might have some room for creativity ;)

As a teacher married to a teacher, I really struggled with finding a girl name that we both agreed on.

We did too.

The surprising part is that my husband actually likes a name that I mentioned that could be seen as a Disney reference, although the fact that she happens to be my favorite princess has nothing to do with me liking her name.

Congrats on the baby news, I remember the first time my wife was pregnant it was the happiest time of our lives together. Great news on the new job.

Just finished your report and loved every but of it! Loved your enthusiasm, loved your life accomplishments, loved that you and your DH got to go out and "play" at Disney, and loved that this trip allowed you and your DH to reconnect in a way you never knew you needed (I think that's how you put it)! So very sweet.

I especially love that the pixie dust you ran into at the parks has followed you home. Congrats on your super awesome happy news - new job, new baby, and pretty soon a new trip to WDW to plan .... ;) Life is definitely good!

We've gone to Disney now 6 times with our kids. I think a trip with just us "big kids" is due!

Thanks for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed it :) You're exactly right: the pixie dust followed us home. That is a perfect way of putting it! It's definitely time for me to start saving up so that we'll be able to afford a fantastic trip when our little one is the right age.

And I agree: sounds like a "big kids" trip is in order! Have fun planning ;)
