Trip Report **COMPLETED** The "Hey what's your name" and "I want to ride Home Depot" Trip Report

Hey all
We have been back for just about a day now so I figured why not start the Trip Report!
Also, I'm on call this week so its probably going to be a pretty sparse week sorry!

Who?
Also I am feeling lazy so I'm making abbreviations for mostly everyone
Left to right: My Dad (Jeff) - D, my nephew Max - no abbreviation, my sister Betta (her real name is Elizabeth) - B, my Mom (Mary) - M, Me! (Megan) - no abbreviation, my sister Jill - J and my brother-in law Nick - N

When?
April 27, 2018 - May 5, 2018 (B and Max from April 29-May 5)

Where?
Port Orleans French Quarter :) Our favorite moderate

Why?
Celebrating my Mom's 5 year cancer free anniversary! (oh, and it was J and N's honeymoon - aka familymoon :joyfull: )

Day 1 April 27, 2018
2 am...2 am came very quickly this morning...especially since the NFL draft started the night before and I couldn't sleep until we made our first pick :joyfull:
Nonetheless, up I got and got ready to leave for the airport.
We got fancy with our dates sign this time :inlove:

DSC_8334.jpg

We shoved all 5 *yes 5* suitcases into our car and soon enough we were at the airport after a short 15 minute drive (bonus...no traffic at 3 am).
We got to the Southwest counter just after it opened and the one worker was OBSESSED with our luggage. She literally told us if our luggage doesn't show up in Orlando it was because she stole it :joyfull: Our luggage is Minnie Mouse...J actually has the same luggage and the worker was trying to steal hers too and then realized we were all related!
TSA precheck wasn't even open so we went through regular security which was only a bummer because it meant I have to take out my computer and iPad which is annoying :cautious::hilarious:
I was wearing my Wishes shirt that N got me for Christmas!
DSC_8342.jpg

May you rest in peace Wishes
IMG_6526.JPG

There actually weren't any food places open yet so we sat around a bit waiting for J and N to arrive. J actually lost her kindle because she didnt take it out for security (so TSA did) and had to go grab it after an overhead page alerted her of such :joyfull:
After she grabbed it we all went to Tim Hortons but that wasn't open yet either..
Finally 4 am hit us and our usual bagel place opened so we headed there :)
DSC_8343.jpg

I didn't take any pictures apparently but we shared a few bagels and got some water.
Soon enough it was time to board our flight. We got in line and we were like A20-24 I think. There were quite a few people ahead of us but I didn't say anything even though I knew they were probably after us. Eventually a woman in front of me did ask what their numbers were and the woman responds "Group A..." as if the rest of us weren't A :joyfull:. She then said what does it matter if we are all A anyway. The only reason I bring this up is because when we got up to gate to scan our tickets the Southwest worker kicked them out of line and made them wait until it was their turn (they were numbers like 40-41 or something). My Mom turned to me and said "burnnnnn." :joyfull::joyfull:

Next up: arriving in Florida

I'm glad the Minnie Vans worked out for you all! Early morning flights are worth the price but I'm always so tired that first day! I am so glad she got the credit-card charge worked out on her magic band! That would have freaked me out! We always have stress with that, because we're married but we pay for our purchases separately. The cast members don't realize I only want to pay off my balance, even though I make it clear to them! I'll have to be super diligent this year!

Looking forward to discovering the title!

Yay, a @Doc Disney report!!

...wait, what?? :cautious:

It was a standing table....they sat under it and essentially pushed us into a corner it was super rude. I kept inching towards them to give them a hint but it wasn't working - I don't think they spoke English (or chose to ignore me) as I said excuse me multiple times!

You guys must have hit all the cheerleaders who were at Worlds!! When I used to do competition cheerleading that was my DREAM :hilarious:

It was indeed Worlds! haha (I saw enough backpacks) - they are only annoying because they travel in huge packs

That's what I thought!

It was so annoying...

Now that's my kind of breakfast!! :hungry::hungry:

Wait...Under your table? I know Casey's can be a bit crowded, but...wha??

It was a standing table but still - like legit leaning against the pole holding up the table!

Hey! I'm in!
I'm coasting through the last few weeks of my trip countdown, and this TR is just the thing to help pass the time!
Thanks 😘

How many weeks left?! Thanks for reading!

Following!

Thanks for following :)

O.M.G that sounds amazing right now. I often find myself "dreaming" of my favorite Disney treats...kind of sad really when you think about it, but that's why I only tell my Disney friends - they get it! :joyfull:

some treats you can only get in Disney too! I just ready a Disney Food Blog article about signs of a Disney addict and one ws dreaming about food or looking at the menus which I always do haha

I've been dreaming of the Ohana dinner and Kona Cafe's pineapple macadamia pancakes since I've been back home. And the honey marscapone cheesecake and the sugar cane shrimp at the F&G kiosks. Even the breakfast burrito at Yak and Yeti Local Foods Cafe :hungry:

'Ohana dinner for sure I always think about...especially the bread pudding :inlove:
I dream about a lot of Disney food ...Mama Melroses steak, Pinnochio Village Haus flatbreads, Mac and cheese for some reason :joyfull:

Yeah-"under the table"? Muffin looks yummy.
HM is the BEST first ride (also - my favorite in MK)
Love the Minnie Vans-saved my DD's backside when she ran late for our ADR at 50's Prime Time (on my birthday!!) in March. I passed the time in the Tune-In lounge though:joyfull:

Also-I think I would have fallen asleep on a bus at that point from being up so early! Ya'll did great to do so much!

Minnie Vans are super convienent for some things on Disney...the cost is worth it about half the time I think! I am not sure how we didn't fall asleep haha running on Adrenaline I guess!

Sounds like a busy first day so far!! I'm in for the rest of the adventure!

I barely remember that first day it flew by so fast. My Mom and I always say its takes us a few days to hit us that we are even in Disney

We've had issues with credit cards before so we always stop at the front desk and double check because its super frustrating otherwise - I wish you could fix this on MDE
We were really tired but totally worth it to get there that early I think!

I totally missed it because it happened when my Mom and I were inside getting food but we came out and my Dad just looked at us like "I dont know what the heck just happened" He said they just sat on the ground under our table. I wish I took a picture!

Just 4 short weeks to go!
Meet me there 😜

I wish! I have 8 weeks until I got back :)

Day 1 continued
Back in the room we un-packed our stuff and organized our room a bit before getting ready for dinner. Thankfully our suitcases were there because it meant I could put our window decorations up!
DSC_8448.jpg

DSC_8452.jpg

Somehow even though we were doing all the unpacking my Mom and I were still the first ones ready so we took some pictures.
DSC_8454.jpg

DSC_8456.jpg

Then Jill came out .... theme of the trip is somehow the girls were always ready before the boys :hilarious:
DSC_8458.jpg

When everyone was ready we gathered in the lobby and called an Uber to the Polynesian. I mean...honestly....ride sharing is the best thing since sliced bread. Before Uber and Lyft it would have meant waiting for a bus to the MK then taking the boat or monorail but instead we got a 15 minute drive! The driver went a weird way though. I was tempted to tell him how to get there faster but I am not sure if there are certain roads they have to avoid or something.
Anyway our ride was quick and easy. When we got out of the car my parents were both saying how weird it was that the driver didn't talk. I said that Uber drivers don't usually talk and thats kind of their thing. They then launched into a conversation about how "all the drivers" they had talked. Mind you my Dad has never taken an Uber (the Minnie Van that afternoon was his first experience of any ride sharing) and my Mom has only taken an Uber outside of Disney twice :joyfull::joyfull:
Jill and I then talked about this meme we always see because its so true! :joyfull::joyfull::joyfull:
Screen Shot 2018-05-10 at 7.56.54 PM.png

Anyway we stopped for a bunch of pictures before heading in

Jill is such a great photographer....

DSC_8473.jpg

My Dad took a picture of one of these guys at the Polynesian forever ago and it circulates around in family texts every now and again so we took a picture of him with one :)
DSC_8474.jpg

My Mom's favorite (cough....only....) son in law :)
DSC_8475.jpg

Finally we headed inside!
DSC_8476.jpg

The whole purpose of rushing around at the MK and taking an Uber to the Polynesian was so we could get to Trader Sam's in time. Trader Sam's was the first bar on our drink challenge list and we really wanted Nick and my Dad to see it. SPOILER ALERT: this was the ONLY drink stop we made on the challenge :joyfull::joyfull::joyfull: Max made it a little more difficult than we anticipated which is totally fine.
Anyway, I went down the hall to see if we could put our name on the list yet and imagine my surprise when it was already open at 3:20 pm! I was a little bit in shock and asked the CM like 3 times if he was sure they were open :happy: They opened early for their 3rd Anniversary! Luckily it wasn't super crowded in there so we got a corner booth and ordered some drinks.
J and N ordered the Nautilus and the Shrunken Zombie Head. My Mom and I also shared a Shrunken Zombie Head and my Dad ordered one too :)
DSC_8481.jpg

DSC_8485.jpg

We had an absolute blast as usual and the drinks were great!
We asked the CM to take a photo so of course this is what we got :joyfull:
DSC_8486.jpg

We got special leis for the Anniversary!

We stayed inside for about an hour but wanted to move on so other people could get in!
Only...it was way earlier than we planned since Trader Sams was open so early and we didn't have dinner until 5:30 :)
So...fake grass and chill out in the sunshine time it was!

I'm not actually sure where D, J and N were but my Mom and I wandered to the beach for some more pictures

DSC_8495.jpg

Eventually we got a text from J and N that they were in the Tambu Lounge so we met them up there
I stole Jill's drink for a picture :)
IMG_6559.JPG

My Mom took this gem (oh in the background you can see a Mom and son who awkwardly sat down with Jill and Nick at their table without asking if they could and despite the fact that there were plenty of other tables :joyfull: when my Mom and Dad and I got there it took them like 10 minutes to move so we could actually sit together).
DSC_8496.jpg

So I took this one
DSC_8497.jpg

Eventually I checked us in for dinner at....
DSC_8498.jpg

Woohoo! It was my Dad, Jill, and Nick's first time at 'Ohana for dinner so I was super excited for them to try it!
We had a very short wait before our pager went off
Bread...our waiter told us like 10 time not to fill up on the bread or salad :)
DSC_8499.jpg

Views.....can you ask for anything better?!

More 'Ohana...
Wings, veggies, pork dumplings and noodles :p We did ask for some more noodles which we never got but we were too full anyway :joyfull:
DSC_8503.jpg

My meat pictures are always gross so I won't force you to see them. But I will share this picture of N's plate of shrimp. He ate all of that shrimp and them some :hilarious: We estimated about 18 shrimp!
DSC_8505.jpg

Had to save some room for bread pudding...
DSC_8507.jpg

Yummmmm oh man that bread pudding :hungry:
We also got cupcakes for J and N's honeymoon (we told the confused CM that it was a familymoon then we sang happy honeymoon to the tune of Happy Birthday :joyfull: ).
DSC_8508.jpg

Everyone really enjoyed the dinner and thought it was a perfect first night thing!
We waddled our way down to the lobby to wait for our Uber home

Back at good old POFQ we came back to a series of surprises!
My Mom and I surprised J and N with a honeymoon basket
(get used to the number 1 in upcoming photos its was N's new thing)
DSC_8515.jpg

The cheese crackers are for J and N's dogs FYI - they love them!
DSC_8517.jpg

I also surprised my Mom with a 5 balloon for her 5 year anniversary and a yellow ballon because its her favorite color :)
DSC_8518.jpg

I also ordered flowers but they weren't there. I had just called floral and gifts when a knock on our door brought the pink flowers. They look dead but I assure you they perked up nicely when back in air conditioning.
DSC_8520.jpg

We were exhausted but it was a little too early for bed so my Mom and I wandered around a bit

Eventually sleep got the best of us and we passed out around 8:30 pm :joyfull:
