Trip Report **COMPLETED** The "Hey what's your name" and "I want to ride Home Depot" Trip Report

Hey all
We have been back for just about a day now so I figured why not start the Trip Report!
Also, I'm on call this week so its probably going to be a pretty sparse week sorry!

Who?
Also I am feeling lazy so I'm making abbreviations for mostly everyone
Left to right: My Dad (Jeff) - D, my nephew Max - no abbreviation, my sister Betta (her real name is Elizabeth) - B, my Mom (Mary) - M, Me! (Megan) - no abbreviation, my sister Jill - J and my brother-in law Nick - N

When?
April 27, 2018 - May 5, 2018 (B and Max from April 29-May 5)

Where?
Port Orleans French Quarter :) Our favorite moderate

Why?
Celebrating my Mom's 5 year cancer free anniversary! (oh, and it was J and N's honeymoon - aka familymoon :joyfull: )

Day 1 April 27, 2018
2 am...2 am came very quickly this morning...especially since the NFL draft started the night before and I couldn't sleep until we made our first pick :joyfull:
Nonetheless, up I got and got ready to leave for the airport.
We got fancy with our dates sign this time :inlove:

We shoved all 5 *yes 5* suitcases into our car and soon enough we were at the airport after a short 15 minute drive (bonus...no traffic at 3 am).
We got to the Southwest counter just after it opened and the one worker was OBSESSED with our luggage. She literally told us if our luggage doesn't show up in Orlando it was because she stole it :joyfull: Our luggage is Minnie Mouse...J actually has the same luggage and the worker was trying to steal hers too and then realized we were all related!
TSA precheck wasn't even open so we went through regular security which was only a bummer because it meant I have to take out my computer and iPad which is annoying :cautious::hilarious:
I was wearing my Wishes shirt that N got me for Christmas!

May you rest in peace Wishes

There actually weren't any food places open yet so we sat around a bit waiting for J and N to arrive. J actually lost her kindle because she didnt take it out for security (so TSA did) and had to go grab it after an overhead page alerted her of such :joyfull:
After she grabbed it we all went to Tim Hortons but that wasn't open yet either..
Finally 4 am hit us and our usual bagel place opened so we headed there :)

I didn't take any pictures apparently but we shared a few bagels and got some water.
Soon enough it was time to board our flight. We got in line and we were like A20-24 I think. There were quite a few people ahead of us but I didn't say anything even though I knew they were probably after us. Eventually a woman in front of me did ask what their numbers were and the woman responds "Group A..." as if the rest of us weren't A :joyfull:. She then said what does it matter if we are all A anyway. The only reason I bring this up is because when we got up to gate to scan our tickets the Southwest worker kicked them out of line and made them wait until it was their turn (they were numbers like 40-41 or something). My Mom turned to me and said "burnnnnn." :joyfull::joyfull:

Another great report! The Home Depot story cracked me up. Can't wait to read your July report, my birthday is also in July so I'll be living vicariously through you! :D

Max is a character - now if we refer to it as Home Depot he corrects us and tells us its called Dumbo :joyfull:

Great trip report as always!!

Thanks for reading !

Really enjoyed your TR! I love all the pics you and your family take of each other! Those are always the ones I really enjoy looking at when I'm looking back through my personal pictures. I don't enjoy the ones with just scenery as much as I do of family and friends! Sadly I'm the worst at actually taking out my phone and taking a picture, so I never have enough!

Also, how were the crowd levels and wait times while you were there? We are in the planning stages of our next trip and can't decide btwn early March or May....

Thanks for reading !
The wait times were great! This is our second trip at this time of year and we loved it. Next year you just have to avoid Easter crowds because it is pretty late. My Mom and I are thinking about going the same exact dates next year!

I love your dad's shirt. I am one of three girls and I need to get one made for my dad's birthday. He will be 85 but would love it:joyfull:

:joyfull: My Dad tolerates it but I dont think he loves wearing it haha

Sorry I was a bit behind (I spent the last 3 weeks in Italy!), but I've caught up and finished your report now. Always so sad to see a trip end, but at least you have another one planned (I'm sure you do!). As always, great TR and thanks for bringing us along with the family.

We've got our next trip planned for the long weekend in September - just a mini 4 day trip. It happens to fall on our 3rd wedding anniversary AND it's in the last few weeks of my pregnancy that it's considered "safe to fly". It will be a totally different trip for us -a lot more laid back, we're only doing 1 park day and Mickey's Not so Scary. Other than that, it'll be relaxing by the pool and food! I figured 4 days in Disney is better than 4 days anywhere else so why not!

Can't wait to hear about your next adventure!

Loved your trip report, and getting a peek at your fun family memories! Congrats to your mom on 5 years cancer free - That is so amazing, and definitely something worth celebrating. The matching tanks were cute too!

Max is super adorable, and just hearing about his and Betta's park schedule took me back to our first years at the parks when my kids were that little. It really is a totally different experience, but no less magical ...

You are so awesome for planning everything as you did, as is apparent from your family's show of thanks with some really great gifts at the end. They clearly appreciated all of your time and effort, even if they were a wee bit late to the Mexican Pavilion that day. ;) You still got that memorable sisters shot, which I know your mom must have loved! One of these day you'll have to show us one of the older versions!

And finally, I told my 11 year old daughter about your family souvenir exchange, and she is all over that for our trip in August! :joyfull:

I just FINALLY finished reading this! Another awesome family trip report.

Max is just the cutest thing ever! How awesome that he warmed up to the characters this trip! The Backyard BBQ looks like so much fun (and Goofy is so cute in his overalls). Great job planning a trip for such a large group...not sure I could handle that stress!

Thank you for reading :) Max is something else. My sister took him about a month ago just the two of them and he was EVEN more excited about characters !
