Trip Report * Completed* The Food and Wine Christmas Time Last Minute Trip

Hey everyone!
We have been back for almost two weeks so its time to finally start my TR!
We had a great time, but the trip went by too fast

Who?
My Mom (Mary) and I (Megan). This is our second trip together with just the two of us...we traveled to Disneyland together in August.

When?
November 14th - November 21st

Where?
Art of Animation Lion King Suite. It was OK, I'm sure if we had kids with us we would have felt differently but it wasn't our cup of tea. I only booked it because I booked this trip semi-last minute and its the only hotel they had available

Why?
I was throwing around the idea of going to Disney by myself during my vacation and when I heard the Osborne Lights were going away I knew I had to go! My Dad and I convinced my mom to go with me and she agreed so off we went !

Day One Saturday November 14th
I surprisingly slept decently well which I never do before a trip but my clinic shift the day before was pretty brutal so I was tired I guess. By sleeping decently I mean I slept like six hours instead of three haha
I always look super great on trip mornings ...

Our flight was leaving at 7:50 so we got to sleep in a bit and not leave for the airport until 6ish. My Dad laughed at us for having four suitcases total and wished us luck to navigate with those Luckily for us the Southwest Counter is close and we didn't have too much of a struggle.

Check in was painless and we were on our way! No TSA pre-check this time though
We stopped at our usual spot to get some breakfast (bagels...so exciting!)

Off to Florida we go!

We put our Magic Bands on almost right away on the flight!

We killed time on the flight by watching the Lion King (seemed appropriate since we were staying in that suite). My mom had never seen the full movie so she enjoyed it (but made me fast forward through Mufasa's death). We arrived in Florida like 30 minutes early but our gate was broken so we taxied for a bit. I spied sunshine which we barely ever see here in Buffalo past September so I was pleased

We headed straight to the Magical Express...oh wait...no we didn't first we had to take pictures haha

When we stopped to take this picture we inadvertently caused a small child to have a fit because he wanted to stop and take a picture too and his mom said no...oops!

When we got down to DME the lines were insane! Hence my face! I seriously have never seen it so crowded before!

Nevertheless despite all my whining we really didn't wait more than 20 minutes.
Sadly we got a yellow Mears bus

First thing's first its selfie time!

On our way to Disney I was so distracted by this plane that was at a standstill in the sky...probably waiting to land

Soon enough we were on Disney property! Yay!

Art of Animation was the first stop! Yay we were at our Disney home for the week!

I think it worked out well for you to leave Prime Time and spend more time at the Osborne Lights! You'll have other opportunities to try Prime Time and you wouldn't have fun there if you tried to force it . It was your last chance to see the lights so you definitely made the right choice. So sad I never got to see them. I am really hoping they will find a way to incorporate them in the new vision for DHS and I will still have a chance to see them! Looking forward to reading more!

There are plenty of rumors going around that they will move somewhere so hopefully thats the case! I agree we figured 50s Prime Time will be there next time so we can do it then (I actually did book it for next time...but booked Sci Fi too since we love that...I'm going to let my Dad decide). The Christmas light strands are always at Toy Story Midway Mania...not just at the holidays .

I agree we figured 50s Prime Time will be there next time so we can do it then (I actually did book it for next time...but booked Sci Fi too since we love that...I'm going to let my Dad decide). Your trip is coming up fast!!!! I'm so excited for you! I will keep my fingers crossed that they find a new spots for the lights. Suddenly time is moving quickly! I can't wait!

I heard that last year's 5K was freezing. My sister and I figure that would be just our luck, but are really hoping for warm days! We made all of our FP+ reservations and were able to get everything we wanted. MK has EMH the night we arrive so we are super excited. Hopefully our flight is on time so we have as much park time as possible. Am hoping to finally have time over the next few days to update my PTR.

What are the dates for your next trip?

Day 4
Today was finally the day we would head to MK! Because of the Food and Wine Festival we had a very backwards schedule for us so it was weird that it had taken so long to spend a day there.
Anyway, we started the morning off early...we had planned on sleeping in a bit but I woke up to my mom showering and it was earlier than planned haha Anyway we decided on breakfast at Landscapes of Flavors again
My mom got the waffles again

And this time I went for the kids egg and cheese (I always took the bacon off haha) breakfast sandwich which was much better than the adult version which was on toast

After we ate we got in a very crowded MK bus (the bus was crowded no matter what the time of day it was though....I suppose thats what you get when you stay at a resort geared towards kids) and headed to the MK. We left significantly early but only managed to arrive just a few minutes early. On the bus we were seated near a family with a little girl who kept saying she felt sick The family kind of ignored it though so maybe its a common occurrence. Nevertheless we made it without any incidents

While we were waiting for the opening show a woman came up to us and asked why everyone was standing still. I told her we were waiting for the opening show and she stared at me blankly so I explained the park wasn't open yet. She was so surprised that she had made it to a park before it was open. I wish I could be the type of person who could go to Disney without planning/knowing the opening times haha

Since the train was still down the opening show was much shorter but still wonderful!

Finally the park opened and it was time for the masses to run in

Where did we head off to? The Mine Train of course!
I have never actually waited in stand by for this ride so I figured why not try it. The line was decently short when we got there but the ride did briefly break down while we were in line so we still waited about 30 minutes. It was cool to be able to play the games though!

While I was taking this picture below I overheard some guy say it was too soon for Christmas decorations haha

Anyway after this we headed over to Space Ranger Spin!
Apparently I was sleepy

We were able to go on again after this because it was like a 5 minute wait
I was trying very hard to get Galactic Hero but it wasn't in my cards

It was time for our Fast Pass after this for Space Mountain!
I love this ride and I was happy to be back on this version as compared to the DL version
My hair looks nice and wind blown here haha

We had our sights set on POTC after this so headed over
I apparently have no pictures of this but I will say the one thing I noticed about the refurb is the amount of water in the ride. It was insane! I don't ever remember feeling as though water could tip into the boat at any time and thats how it felt! Plus you get pretty wet if you sit in the front row!

Day 4 continued:
After POTC we headed to another classic...Haunted Mansion (at least I think so...I have pictures of it but didn't write it in my notes haha)

This apparently is my moms scared face...

And mine...(the more scary thing is my ridiculous repetitive pose ugh haha)

Then of course it was time for a brief trip at the Rapunzel bathrooms

And then IASW

We found these cool decorations on the side of the castle

We had a FP to Meet the main man...er...mouse after this but even though we were on the brink of being late we still stopped for Memory Maker pictures haha
My mom and I said everyone was probably sick of seeing pictures/taking pictures of just the two of us

This guy made us do the most ridiculous pose I have ever seen...I almost don't want to post it...but I will for your entertainment

Anyway whatever that was weird haha
We rushed off after this just in time to meet Mickey. Here we ran into a lovely family with a little girl. The dad, however, was briefly going to lose it. I swear it was like he was having roid rage. He was freaking out about how crowded it was (*it wasn't...like 20 minute waits for everything except the mine train) and how he planned this trip based on the crowd calendars and this was supposed to be the lowest crowds ever!!! In any case, I felt bad for the wife she was pretty embarrassed but they otherwise were very nice
This FP line took quite a bit of time but finally we met Mickey!

He played a card trick with us; it was very sweet

Despite my internal worrying about being late for our lunch reservation I really enjoyed this M and G!
Where was lunch? I will give you a hint...this was our view

Tonys!

I was so happy we were seated outside!!! It was so cool!!!! We got to watch the Move It Shake It parade and people watch
We started off with bread

My mom ordered the spaghetti and meatballs (so she could reenact Lady and the Tramp which I refused to participate in)

And I ordered the Margherita Pizza

For dessert we split the Pistachio creme brûlée (recommended by @LisaBelle !)

The creme brûlée was amazing...the rest of the food was OK. The atmosphere was what really made it! I could not have asked for a better view of the MK!
After this we headed back to the hotel for a break by the pool!

Next up: Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!

We are loving your trip report. Glad you guys were able to see the Osborne Lights. They are awesome to see. Glad to see that you were able to see the "legit" Mickey (that's what our 14 yr old nephew called him when we took him and his little brother to Disney back in July). Here is a pic of the 4 of us from July with the "legit" Mickey.

I have to agree with you about the food at Tony's,it's all about ambiance. Cannot wait to hear about the x-mas party. If you have never done it,you will love it it is amazing.

OK what's up with the yellow Mears bus? I've never seen that before. The few times we fly up, we are usually two out of four or six people on the ME bus LOL.

Did they charge you a penalty for leaving the 50s prime time?

Hint: if you just go into the bar side called the tune in lounge, you can order the same food at the bar, have a better time, and nobody is yelling at you or any of that other nonsense LOL.

Its insane how in every picture I'm doing the same little arm thing haha I need to make a conscious effort next time to not pose like that haha

Its funny we saw the Osborne lights before but I don't remember them being quite as magical as they were this time around...maybe because they are leaving and I appreciated them more now ! I actually did not get charged from 50s Prime Time...I'm surprised actually but I will take it! I think we might try the bar side next time. I told my mom we could do that but I wasn't sure if they yelled at you there too haha thanks for the tip! I really want to eat there but I for some reason am so nervous about the whole thing! I think its because when I was a kid I went to Dirty Dicks and they gave me a hat to wear that said something embarrassing and I'm like traumatized for life hahaha

Day 4 continued:

Back at the hotel we took a quick break and went in the pool. I wrote down that my mom and I made up a game in the pool...too bad I have no clue what it was haha
We got dressed in our Christmas outfits and took advantage of the timer on my camera to get a picture

We headed downstairs to get in another very long line for the MK. We got a lot of compliments on our outfits! Our shirts are from etsy and our skirts are from sparkleatheltics.com. We actually used the same brand of skirts for the Princess Half Marathon (and I use my red one for Bills games!) so thats where we got the idea from.
Our bus ride over was long, and especially long because we were standing next to a family that made me feel really sad. The grandma seemed like she had had it with her family and kept calling her granddaughter a "little b" under her breath and kept smacking the grandson on the side of his head. The good news is by the end of the ride all seemed well and they all made up.
Anyway, we got to the MK around 4:30 and easily got in and got our bracelets. We stopped first for a Photopass picture!

We actually walked in just in time to see the Flag Retreat! This was on my Disney bucket list so I am so happy we happened upon it. We usually aren't in parks at that time because of the way we take breaks in the middle of the day so I wasn't sure I would ever see it.

Earlier in the day I swapped out our Mine Train Fast Pass (since we waited in stand by) for a Jingle Cruise FP! Neither one of us had ever been on the Jingle Cruise before so we were excited to try it. I will admit I don't usually enjoy the Jungle Cruise but I think that it may be growing on me (like Its a Small World) because I really liked Jingle Cruise!

After the Jingle Cruise we decided to get a snack. We were planning on eating at some point later but figured we would get a snack now.
My mom finally got a Mickey Premium Bar (lol had to call it by its real name) and I got popcorn

After this we walked over to the castle and got some more Photopass pictures

We actually were there right around the time Dream Along with Mickey was going on so we stayed and watched because we actually had never seen it before (I mean other than walking by it all the time).

After the show we decided to just stay and see the castle lighting show so we waited. There was much to see while waiting including a family having a fight over Casey's hot dogs, a man continuously falling off the curb while taking pictures and a stroller incident where the child fell out of the stroller and the mom proceeded to run over him

I have actually seen this show on Youtube like 10 times but it was neat to see in person!

The castle did not photograph well in our selfie haha

Anyway after this we decided to head to the Peoplemover!

I liked how they had these projections all over

It wasn't quite 7 yet but the snack places were open so we headed to Tomorrowland Terrace to get our cookies and hot chocolate!

Of course it was like 85 degrees out so the Hot Chocolate wasn't necessary but still...had to get it haha

Next up: the rest of the party!

Day 4 continued:

We had talked about the Christmas Party before going and I knew it was going to be crowded so we kind of had to pick and choose the things we wanted to do ahead of time. We decided we would pick one character M and G to go to since we didn't want to wait in lines all night so ahead of time we picked Winnie the Pooh and friends and if we had time Scrooge McDuck. So, after our snack we headed to the Winnie the Pooh M and G area and got in the pre-line (since the line wasn't open yet). I would be lying if our feet didn't already hurt...I wore the worst flip flops (I usually wear flip flops but these were pretty flat and not comfy) and my moms feet were just generally tired but we knew we had to power through a little. In line we were behind a few college CMs that were kind of ruining things for me haha they kept talking about their jobs and what they didn't like and how they were tempted to fix some of the characters outfits when they noticed they were wrong. I realize I'm a grown adult but I like to still believe in the magic at Disney and I don't like to know too much about behind the scenes stuff. This is why I would never do a Keys to the Kingdom tour. Well nevertheless it was finally time to meet the gang!
Winnie the Pooh actually took the Photopass Photographers Camera and started taking pictures himself! It was really funny

I told Piglet to be careful and watch his scarf because it was dragging on the ground and he fixed it haha (those CMs got into my head haha)

I can not say enough good things about this M and G! We really enjoyed and I think we made a good decision. We also got in line just in time because there was a huge line behind us! They are so cute!!!

My mom wanted to ride the Winnie the Pooh ride after this so we hopped on since it was a short wait.
We looked around a bit after this just taking in the sights

We decided we were pretty tired after this so we made the choice to see the earlier parade instead of the later one like we had planned. We walked all over to find a decent spot and landed in Frontierland. We were still a few people deep but it was OK. Like I said our feet hurt pretty bad by this point (which is super unusual for us) so I would be lying if I wasn't a little cranky by this point.
The parade was very cute! I wish I perked myself up a bit more to enjoy it more but I was annoyed I couldn't get any good pictures. The good news is the Memory Maker pictures come with some good ones so I will share those instead of my awful ones haha

Anyway looking back I am glad we spent time walking around enjoying the sights instead of waiting the whole time for a parade that we could still see just fine!
After this we walked all over again to see Holiday Wishes.
On our way over we spotted the Dance Party at Cosmic Rays and enjoyed it for a few minutes.
We watched Celebrate the Magic first and I did comment a few times about it having nothing to do with Christmas but soon enough ate my words when there was a Christmas part at the end
I dont have any pictures or even videos (aside from a very short one) of Holiday Wishes because I just wanted to enjoy it. And we did! That to me made the whole night worth it despite being exhausted! They were beautiful fireworks
We did have a few things on our list we were interested in doing but we really just wanted to go home at that point so we decided to leave. It was about 1030 at this point. I was a little disappointed we didn't see Scrooge McDuck or the Tomorrowland Party but I always think about missing things as a good excuse to go back!
It was snowing on our way out!
You can't really see it, but you can see how crowded it was!

Overall we really enjoyed the party and we would definitely go back! We would probably just wear different shoes because it is a lot of standing around! Usually at Disney we are so on the move I don't even notice my feet and if they hurt or not! We both struggled that whole night and next morning with our feet hurting but nothing like another day in the World to cure it haha

By the way we never ended up eating dinner...I have no idea how it happened but we just kind of forgot to do it haha Maybe we wouldn't have been so tired had we eaten something

Noooo, the bar side is the best! The waitresses and waiters come over to pick up their drinks from the bartenders and you can overhear a little out-of-character candidness between them and the bartenders which I find entertaining LOL. They totally do not bother you at the bar, and the bartenders are great - especially Julie and David...so I've heard...LOL. Julie especially is very friendly, always on her game. Sometimes we have to get a drink first and wait for a couple of seats to open up. And again, you can order the full menu. We often get an appetizer, split a sampler platter, and get a no-sugar-added cheesecake slice (not on the menu, but it's there.) We spend like 2 or 3 hours LOL. **love it**

Day Two Epcot

We got up around 7 this morning and headed to the food court for breakfast. We both got croissants to eat. We were looking around for fruit (we usually eat bananas with our croissants) but we couldn't find any Turns out we weren't looking hard enough because I found all the fruit the next day haha

We ate, went back to the room (and watched some Stacy), dropped our cups off, and headed back to the bus stop. We got to Epcot at 8:45 am and the park was already open! JK though. I worried for a minute but it turned out there was just a rope drop. We chose the Test Track side and went along with the masses to Test Track!

We were behind an older couple who were super confused about having to share a design station so I kindly guided them to avoid the backup that was behind us haha
We made this beautiful car

We enjoyed our ride as usual!

We only got 203...not my best

After this we headed to our first fast pass...the Seas! Why not take a trip around the Seas again
I got eaten by a shark though...

We headed to Figment after this...I don't exactly remember the old version of this ride but I was watching home movies recently and saw a video of it and it looked really cool! Oh well, guess we are stuck with this version for now

We had a Fast Pass for Spaceship Earth after this but had a little bit of time to kill so we got some pictures taken

We saw Pluto on the side and there was barely any wait so we hopped in line to see him!

I thought this picture was so cute!

I love Spaceship Earth...I feel like its one of the most underrated rides

I think the part with the Earth and the Stars is very cool and relaxing

Day 5

This morning we got up a little later than usual so when we headed to Landscapes of Flavor it was super crowded. We ended up just grabbing croissants and got on the "late" bus to the Magic Kingdom. Somehow we still made it just as the park opened. We decided to "run" to.....the teacups! haha
(I'm not sure I'm awake yet?)

We enjoyed our brief ride on the teacups and headed to Dumbo after this (Fantasyland is dead in the mornings)

We headed to Barnstormer after this! Then we planned on going to Petes Silly Sideshow but it wasn't open yet so we made our way to Tomorrowland and took a spin on the Peoplemover. Then we walked back to Silly Sideshow haha. We had never been in there before. It was so cute!!! We were stuck behind a family who kept cutting in and out of line trying to decide which side to start with. Neither side was busy so it was kind of annoying haha

Minnie Mouse commented on how I was dressed like her. In this picture it looks like I'm saying "who me?!"

Donald aka Donaldo was so cute! He said his one snake was well behaved but the other one wasn't haha

I asked Goofy about his Rocket Ship in the back and he said he crashed and he was super embarrassed

I am so happy we were able to experience this whole Meet and Greet area...I'm not sure why it took us so long!
We were considering going on Astro Orbiter after this but it was too long of a wait by this point so we headed to our first Fast Pass for Buzz

Still no Galactic Hero...we both got pretty close actually because we were stuck so we could just keep shooting haha
We made time for some pictures after this

My mom's backpack has her name on it and a CM in this area kept calling her Mary Mary quite contrary haha

We made time for Monsters Inc Laugh Floor after this

I love this attraction! This show was especially hilarious. They asked the one guy when he and his new wife got married and he couldn't remember so she slapped him. It was hilarious!! His wife was also asked to think of her favorite number and she said it out loud and the Monster was like "this is easier than I thought!!!" I seriously never laughed so hard at this show haha
We did some shopping on Main Street after this We didn't buy anything but spent some time in the crystal shop and watched them make some stuff.
We had a Fast Pass for Peter Pan after this I used to not get the appeal of that ride but it is very lovely and it is one of Walt's ideas which is neat
We were so hungry since we just ate croissants so decided it was time for lunch. We headed to Pinocchio's Village Haus. It was pretty crowded there and we were stuck behind a family who couldn't get their dining plan to work. Finally the manger came around and just gave it to them for free because they were having trouble all morning. I thought that was very nice and the family was so grateful. We found a nice table for two and enjoyed our food. We both ordered pepperoni flat breads

We also got a side of fries...but it was seriously so much food haha

There used to be blue cheese packets here but they didn't have them In any case the food was still really good! Has anyone noticed people leaving their garbage on the tables in Counter Service restaurants? This happened quite a bit even when the CMs came over and told people they didn't clean it up
Because we weren't full enough we decided to get some dessert. My mom got an ice cream bar and I got this strawberry lemonade from Fantasyland. It was so good and had some fresh strawberries in it

We enjoyed our treats in (new) Fantasyland then headed back to the hotel
