Trip Report ***Completed** For the First Time in Forever! Aug 2016 WDW Trip Report

Hi guys! I'm so excited to start my very first trip report! My family and I have just gotten back from Disney World about a week ago and we had a fabulous vacation. It was our first trip to Disney since 2008, so there have been a lot of changes since then. This was our first trip since Fast Pass + and Magic Bands and the DDP, so it was a bit of uncharted territory for us. This was also the first trip where I was primarily in control for most of the planning. My Dad insisted on using a AAA travel agent to book the package even though I told him I could have done it. I planned all our meals, booked all our fast passes, and generally mapped out all of our park days. Overall I think it went really well considering I hadn't actually been to the parks in 8 years. Thank God for these forums and You Tube!

Anyway it was a very memorable trip with its highs and lows and I can't wait to share the craziness with all of you. So here is the outline of our vacation to start:

When: Friday Aug 19th- Mon Aug 29th 2016

Where: All Star Movies Resort

Who: Myself (Melissa), my Mom, my Dad, my younger brother Matt. My younger sister Stephanie and her bf Steve (now fiancee but we'll get to that!) arrived on Tues Aug 23rd.

Anyway I hope you enjoy my trip report!

Hooray for finally getting your Margarita! You deserved it! :)

I definitely did! It wasn't the same as a margarita from Mexico though. :( It's okay. I had something even better the next day!

Following now. Love this trip report & I'm glad you and your dad were able to convince your mom to use the wheelchair.

Thanks for reading! I'm very glad that my Mom finally agreed on the wheelchair as well. It was a god send and without it we wouldn't have been able to do even a fraction of what we did. She never would have made it walking around the parks in that heat for ten days straight!

Day 9- Saturday August 27th- Catch Up Day

When I did our planning for this trip, originally we were playing around with the idea of visiting Sea World because we usually included it in all or previous trips. After some discussion, we all decided that we could do without Sea World and would much rather have an extra day at Disney, especially since Stephanie and Steve had missed out on most of our previous Disney park days. I specifically left this day open as sort of a catch up day for us, depending on how much we accomplished in our earlier park days. I figured it would be a good opportunity for Steph and Steve to see some things they missed and if we didn't feel up to the parks we could do a water park or just resort hop.

We slept in a little bit and then began the great debate about what we should do that day. I really wanted to head back to Epcot and try to explore the World Showcase since I didn't get to see much of it. Steph and Steve wanted to go to DHS to check out some of the Star Wars stuff since Steve is a big Star Wars fan. Matt wanted to visit Disney Quest because he's a big gamer and my Mom wanted to go to Magic Kingdom even though we were spending a full day there the next day. My Dad just wanted us to stay together which wasn't seeming very practical. I REALLY wanted to do the countries and I was all prepared to hop on the bus and go by myself!

So, ultimately we decided to compromise the best we could. My parents and I would head over to Epcot to explore World Showcase while Steph, Steve, and Matt would take the bus to DHS to see the Star Wars stuff. We would try to meet at Disney Quest around 2pm and then swing over to the MK. We had reservations for Chef Mickey's at 7pm and we'd end the night at MK. This was all working out too smoothly....

I believe we may have just done a snack for breakfast again at the food court. I think I had the chocolate muffin again. Either that or a bagel and creme cheese (I have to take better notes!) Then my parents and I hopped in the car and we were Epcot bound!

Selfie from the tram on the way to Epcot.

My Mom was randomly selected. I forgot to mention it, but she was that one person in every party who was always getting randomly selected. The security guard just started walking towards her and my Mom was like, "I get to go through the metal detector, right?" My Dad teased her saying that it was her Minnie ears that made her suspicious looking.

After we got my Mom her chariot for the day, we headed straight back towards World Showcase. We decided since we had already kind of did Mexico and Norway earlier in our trip, we would start counter clockwise around World Showcase. We had already seen Canada too, so we walked past it and started our journey in Great Britain.

First, we stopped at a souvenir kiosk because my Mom wanted to pick up a Donald Duck key chain for my brother Sammy back home because he loves Donald. I noticed a family sitting a few feet away with binders upon binders of Disney pins, so I went over there to browse while my Mom made her purchase. Turns out the family was SUPER nice. They asked me if I was looking for anything specific and I mentioned I liked Figment pins so they showed me what they had of him. We got into a conversation about pin trading and I found out they had only been pin trading for a few months, but because they were locals they were able to build up their collection really quick. I've been collecting since the summer of 2003 and I have maybe enough pins for 2 lanyards (maybe a bit more). Anyway, I traded the son a Mickey pirate pin I had for one of the Figments and he wound up letting me have another Figment pin too.

Evidently there was a pin trading event going on in the event building. (I asked a CM because I was nosy) but you needed to pay to get in. Bummer... If I'd have known earlier I may have bought a ticket. I always thought it would be cool to go to one of those things.

We moved on to browse in some of the shops which I love to do. I just love to see all the things from the different countries. We stopped in the tea shop to pick up some authentic English tea for my SIL to go with her HP mug. She also LOVES tea, so we got her a sampler pack of all different types.

14202732_10157444151735360_1630562466629574154_n.jpg

We also bumped into Mary Poppins who was hanging out kind of hidden all by herself, so we had to say hello. She complimented me on my manners because I asked her so politely for a picture.

Then it was time to move on to France! We stopped in one of the stores that sold Dior perfume and got suckered by the CM to sample the newest Dior fragrance. Even my Dad got a little spritz of cologne. Stephanie is a manager at Ulta, so any time my Mom or I find a perfume we like we usually have her pick it up with her discount, so we politely thanked her and moved on. Now that we smelled all fancy, we decided to check out Impressions de France, which I hadn't remembered ever seeing before.

The movie was okay. The AC was even better. Afterwards we looked around the shop outside the theater and then we decided to use some snack credits on some French pastries at Les Halles. Well my parents got pastries. I got a chocolate mousse. My Mom and I also decided while we were in France we might as well get some Grey Goose slushies. We had drank them on our last trip and loved them, so while my parents looked for a table I went to the stand to grab slushies for both my Mom and I.

This is everything....

Literally the best early Saturday afternoon ever.
14184473_10157444191560360_6064708323113880307_n.jpg

The grey goose slushies were even better than I remembered and were really hitting the spot in the heat. I could have totally went for another one, but then I think I'd be a little too tipsy to make it through the rest of the day. I seriously recommend the slushie though if you find yourself in France looking for something yummy to drink! It may just be my favorite alcoholic beverage in Disney.

We found a Photopass photographer in front of the fountain, so we posed for a few pictures.

Unfortunately, we had spent so much time in France that we were going to have to race through the other countries. You really can spend an entire day in just the countries alone and I think on my next trip I'm going to set aside one whole day specifically for hanging out in World Showcase. From here on the countries are kind of a blur. We sort of bypassed Morocco. We stopped in Japan to look at the Mitsukoshi Department Store. I would have loved to stay there longer. There's so many cool things in there. Someday I'd like to visit Tokyo. After that I quickly snuck a glance at the menu for Teppan Edo. I think that would be a really cool meal to do on our next trip.

We stopped at the American Adventure where I was hoping to finally see the show, but the next one wasn't like 45 minutes so onwards we walked. We took a quick glance around Italy where I perused the Via Napoli menu (that's another restaurant on my radar).

I snapped this picture of the miniature town and railroad in Germany. I also stopped in the shops and picked up a Rapunzel playset for one of my students whose birthday party I was attending when I got back.
14192788_10157444191610360_7305246878082713240_n.jpg

We did a quick look in the China shops, but again didn't have the time to explore and take pictures. We pretty much walked past Norway and Mexico. I really wanted to meet Ana and Elsa, but there just wasn't enough time. It was around 2pm and Steph, Steve, and Matt were already at Disney Quest.

So in the end, I did get to do my countries, but not at the pace I wanted to. Next time I am definitely devoting at least one day to drinking, eating, and meeting princesses around the world.

We stopped at the gift shop at the front of World Showcase to I think get my Dad a shirt. My parents also let me pick out two new pins to add to my collection. Then we stopped in Mouse Gears to try to find a shirt to bring home to Sammy. We saw the shirt in several shops, but never in his size. It had Donald Duck on it and said, "When You Look This Good, You Don't Have to Wear Pants" or something like that. It had his name on it. Unfortunately Mouse Gears didn't have it either, so we just ordered it through the Disney Parks app.

On our way out, we called Matt and he said not to bother meting him at Disney Quest. They had already had their fill and Steph and Steve wanted to go back to the hotel for a swim. Matt said he would just meet us at MK, so we got our car and drove over.

So, what would our night at MK bring? Completely unexpected news. Little did I know that we were in for a very interesting and surprising night...

Day 5- Tuesday August 23rd- Magic Kingdom

Today was our first full Magic Kingdom day. My sister and her b/f were supposed to arrive that night, so we had already decided to head back to the hotel fairly early because my parents wanted to be there when they arrived. We also had a 9:30am breakfast ADR at O'hana. We decided to sleep in a little bit instead of trying to get to MK early and fit in a ride or two before breakfast.

Because we were going to be at MK later that day anyway, we chose to park at the TTC and take the monorail over to the Poly. I forgot to factor in time for a crowded tram of guests heading into the park for the day, so we were already cutting it pretty tightly by the time we arrived at the TTC. I remember being able to walk from the TTC to the Poly, but I had forgotten that it's still a bit of a walk to the Grand Ceremonial House. Still, we decided to walk versus deal with the monorail. Even though it may have taken a bit longer, it did allow me to take in some of the theming of the Poly. Someday I'd love to stay there... Better find me a rich man lol jk.

I'm so artsy... I look like a giant rat!

Then everyone got a picture sitting in the big chairs while we were waiting for our buzzer to go off after we checked in.

We did our first character breakfast at O'hana on our Aug 2000 trip and have made it a mainstay of every trip since then. I even convinced my friend to do it when we went on our Spring Break trip while I was in college. I think this was my 5th time doing the character breakfast there. It's really a great breakfast and it's a great excuse to stop off at the Poly. I highly recommend it.

We were led over to our table with a basket of these delicious goodies.

View attachment 162922

As well as glasses of what I think was pineapple/guava/orange juice. It was very good! Of course we had to snap a few more pictures.

I think that was about the only character ADR we didn't do. Thought it a little out of the way and thinking time wise would reduce our time in the parks, considering it was our first time there. but I know they would have loved to have meet Stitch after seeing them having a great time at main street with him.

While we were on Everest, my parents had been nice enough to pick us up ponchos from the gift shop to wear on the way back towards the front of the park. So, of course this called for pics!

View attachment 164309 View attachment 164310

By the time we reached the tram it had finally stopped raining for the day so the ponchos got put away in our bags. Luckily, we didn't need them again on that particular day.

We decided since we were considering going to MK that night that we would park at the TTC and then take the monorail over to Epcot. We usually try to take the monorail over there at least once anyway because we like to ride through the park and see everything from a different perspective.

When we got to Epcot, Stephanie wanted to take Steve on Spaceship Earth, so I decided to tag along with them because I just love dark rides, My Mom, Dad, and Matt decided to go on ahead and look around in Innoventions while we rode. After we got off we called my parents to find out where they were and they told us they would come back to meet us. While we were waiting I got approached by a CM who asked me to complete a survey. It was really short and more likely a pre- screener for a survey sent to my e-mail which I still need to finish completing.

I wanted to drag Steph and Steve into Club Cool to see if I could get them with the same Beverly trick that had worked so well on my parents. Either A) They knew what I was up to or B) They are in that rare group of people who don't seem to mind the taste of Beverly. They both drank without any facial expressions and said that it tasted just okay. Grr... It figures.

From there, Steph said she wanted to ride Figment which I had no problem with because I love him. Before we got to the Imagination Pavillion we decided to take a family picture in front of the fountain right outside it.
View attachment 164320

Steph wanted a few shots of just her and Steve.

View attachment 164318 View attachment 164319

We went ahead and did Figment which was only a 15 minute wait. I don't know if Steve knew what to make of me and Steph singing along with "One Little Spark" at the very end lol. They took a quick look around Imageworks and after seeing nothing exciting we left. We noticed that Soarin had a 25 minute wait and Steph really wanted to do that so we headed for The Land. None of us minded doing that ride again anyway.

The standby line wasn't too bad. Matt, Steph, and I played along with the mobile game on our phones. We were all team purple and we found out one of the guys ahead of us was also purple so we had a good time getting our team to the top of the leader board. Soarin was just as good this time around. Steph actually screamed at first scene (I won't go into detail about which part, but if you've seen it you probably know which part because it's kind of sudden and takes you by surprise) which made us all laugh. My only complaint this time around is I guess we were seated farther away from the middle of the theater so some of the scenes looked a little too wide. It's definitely a better experience if you are in the middle of the theater.

After Soarin we decided to stop and get a snack because we were getting kind of hungry. We got Mickey pretzels with cheese and sat on a planter while we ate them. Steph really wanted to do Test Track but the standby line was 75 minutes and she didn't want to do single rider because she wanted to definitely ride with Steve.Instead she opted to do Mission Space. Her, Steve, Matt, and my Dad decided to go for it while I opted to stay behind with my Mom. As I mentioned before I can't do spinning rides anymore and I'm a bit claustrophobic, so I can definitely leave the experience.

My Mom and I decided to look in Mouse Gears for a bit. Then I lingered over to the pin trading spot to look for a few new pins. There were also a few people with pin trading boards and books. I would've definitely looked longer, but I didn't want to just leave my Mom. So eventually I wheeled her over near a bench by Mission Space and we waited for everyone else to finish their ride.

By then it was about time to start heading over to our dinner ADR which was something I was looking forward to for literally years. We were finally eating at Le Cellier. I've always wanted to try it and even though I've heard the quality has gone down recently, I still wanted to check it off the Disney bucket list. I didn't care that it was 2 TS credits and probably not worth it. I also did not care that Matt did not like literally anything on the menu. I was going to eat there and nothing was going to stand in my way!

We wound up being early by the time we got to Canada so we decided to squeeze in the movie before checking in for dinner. We were still a bit early for check in, but I gave them our name anyway where they informed they were currently running 15-20 min behind schedule. I also noticed they were training quite a few new CMs, so this my have contributed to the rush.

Thankfully it had cooled down quite a bit, so we waited outside until they finally called us around 6:40pm. Our reservation had been for 6:15pm. Also keep in mind that we had a 7:30 Frozen FP which I was already afraid would be a tight squeeze. I figured we had until 8:30pm, so we should be fine, right?

The wine flights looked really good, but I was totally not willing to pay $20 for it, so I just stuck with a Coke. My Mom, Dad, and I ordered the Black Angus Boneless Rib-Eye. I love Rib-eye steak so I was excited. I also subbed the veggies for fries (yes, I'm THAT person. I know some people may be cringing right now at how classless I am). Steph ordered the Chicken Two-Ways and Steve ordered the Alaskan Halibut. Matt didn't like anything, so he decided not to use his credits and just order a side of poutine and he'd get something else later. I was also super tempted to try the Cheddar Cheese Soup, but it was a bit too hot for me to really want soup.

It took forever for our food to come. I was starving by the time I got it, but my steak was really good. My Dad enjoyed his as well. My Mom was unimpressed, but she's not much of a steak person. Steve said the halibut was really good and Steph was indifferent on the chicken. By the time we were finishing up it was already about 7:45 and we still needed to order and be served dessert and pay our bill. I was starting to get a little anxious about this FP...

When our waitress finally came over for our dessert orders Steph and I got the Chocolate Whiskey Truffle. I honestly don't remember what everyone else ordered because by now I was mentally trying to figure out how we were going to make it from Canada to Norway with my Mom in a wheelchair by 8:30pm. It was now after 8pm.

When our dessert finally arrived I felt bad, but I did have to politely ask the waitress if she could bring the bill right over because we had a FP for Frozen that was going to be closing shortly. I had nightmares of us missing it and I really wanted to ride it without waiting in a two hour line. She assured us if we did miss our window just to tell a CM that we were dining at Le Cellier, but now I was too keyed up. I could barely enjoy my dessert.

As soon as my Dad finished with the bill I practically ripped my family up from the table and started booking it towards Norway. (It was now 8:15-8:20pm.) In hindsight I was probably being a bit ridiculous, but I was having an insane Disney moment. I may have actually cried if we missed this FP, especially since it was the only one that I had pretty much no hope of rescheduling if we did.

Somehow we made it with maybe 5 minutes to spare. I was never so relieved to see that Mickey head turn green! lol Thanks to FP we practically walked on. Now I know I've ridden Maelstrom before, but I didn't really remember it too much except the going backward part. I knew that the ride itself was still the same with the addition of all the Frozen stuff. For what it was, I loved the ride, but I'm a Frozen fan. Matt said what I've heard from many others that the faces on the animatronics were kind of creepy. I didn't really mind, but I could see where people thought that. I for one actually filled up with tears during the Let It Go scene because I felt like you really felt like you were in Elsa's ice castle. It was amazing! I also had no idea they took a picture (not that you'd see me anyway since Steph's head is completely blocking my face lol

View attachment 164338

Steph said she loved it and now she wants to see Frozen. (She still hasn't seen it even though I've been bugging her to watch it with me. It's SUCH a good sister movie!)

After we got off Frozen it was just about time for Illuminations, so we found a spot between Norway and China. It was then I realized that we had barely touched World Showcase and I wasn't sure if we'd be able to make it back to visit any of the countries. :( I love World Showcase and NEVER get to spend a fraction of the amount of time I wish to spend there. I was heartbroken and then I realized that our trip was already past the halfway point and I was starting to realize with everything we've seen, we still were not going to be able to see a lot of what we wanted. Darn you WDW for being so big! Needless to say I may have cried a little during Illuminations. The inevitable Disney depression was starting to set in a bit.

View attachment 164339 View attachment 164341
View attachment 164340

After Illuminations of course we got swept up in the closing rush. Getting out of Epcot is still not as bad as MK by a long shot. I feel like there is more space for crowds to disperse. When we got to the monorail though that sucked. The line was pretty long and we really had no choice but to stand in it. Everyone decided that they were tired and we should probably skip the EMH because we had an early breakfast ADR the next morning. (Well, early for us). So we waited about half an hour for the monorail back to the TTC to get our car and head back to the hotel.

Would I make it back to Epcot to cram in a mini trip around the world? Stay tuned! Next up, the Universal portion of this trip report.

Do the ponchos keep you dry? I ask because the one day we got caught in the rain I was commenting about never forgetting our ponchos again. The CM mentioned they don't keep you 100% dry. It was with this, the kids decided to forego the ponchos and go with our own raincoats which I also brought.

Eeeek! I'm on pins and needles waiting for your next update because I have a feeling I know what's coming next. (Your intro post kinda gave it away a little ^_^.)

I did kind of give it away... But you are still going to want to read the details!

If you do plan on going back I definitely recommend O'hana. It's a great breakfast and they'll keep bringing you trays until you are full. Plus, it's a good excuse to visit the Poly!

I find that the one's you buy from Disney do the job well enough. I wouldn't purposely stand out in the rain for any length of time to put them to the test, but they've worked well enough for us. Most times the rainstorms don't last too long anyway. You can definitely buy cheaper from the dollar store, but I feel like those ones are too thin and have a tendency to rip. The Disney ones are thicker and a better material. Plus we like to keep them as souvenirs.

Before I continue with the rest of our evening at MK, I just wanted to do a quick post to share some pics of my sister and Steve in DHS from that same day. Matt was there, but he was being a little camera shy.

When they got to DHS, Steph and Steve stopped for some pics in front of the Chinese theater.

Apparently all they did was check out Star Wars Launch Bay and then ride Star Tours which they enjoyed. Actually I think they rode The Great Movie Ride too because Matt told me they wound up with the same tour guide we had earlier in our trip and she was much better this time around. They didn't stop to meet Chewbacca or Kylo Ren, but they did get to meet some Jawas. There may have been a funny story there about them trying to trade with a Jawa, but since I'm not a big Star Wars fan it was lost on me.

After doing what they had set out to do at DHS, they grabbed a bus to Disney Springs, so Matt could experience his Disney Quest one last time before it closes for good. I think they may have stopped to browse in a few shops on the way. As I stated previously, they didn't stay too long. Steph and Steve went back to our resort and we didn't hear back from them until it was time for dinner. Matt took a bus to MK to meet us there as soon as he could.

Either you sister and brother in law are short, or those Jawas shrank from when you were there til when we met them. Just going to say they were about the size of the kids when we were there.

They aren't that tall... I guess they are on the shorter side. I can't really comment on the size of the Jawas because we didn't see them when I was at DHS and I wasn't with them on this occasion. I don't know how tall Steve is, but Steph is maybe 5'3.

So back to our regularly scheduled programming.... My parents and I were on our way into MK and Matt was on awaiting a bus from Disney Springs to meet us at MK. On our way into the park, my Dad called his friend George. (Remember he had said he would like to meet up on this night for a drink). He told him what our plans were and they arranged for George and his wife to meet up with us at the Contemporary before our dinner ADR at 7pm.

We were also starving at this point and were trying to pick a place to grab a little something to tide us over until our dinner. We were kind of over burgers and my Mom wanted a hot dog. I'm not a huge hot dog fan, but I'd take one for the team if need be. We were considering stopping at Casey's, but then I looked up the menu for The Friar's Nook and saw not only did they have hot dogs, but they had some specialty mac and cheeses that I've heard people rave about. So, we decided to go there as a compromise.

I should mention that it was looking pretty cloudy around this time. We kept saying that ever since Steph had arrived it all of a sudden rained a bit every day lol. Sure enough, we made it as far as the castle before the clouds opened up. It was time to stop and put the ponchos on. My Mom insisted that we take cover under the awning of the Cheshire Cafe near the Tea Cups to wait out the rain. I was starving and really wanted to try to make a run for it, but I was out voted. Funny story was as we were waiting, a woman my Mom knows through work comes walking around the bend! So, my Mom called over to her and she came and talked with us for a few minutes. She was down with her adult children as well and was on her way to meet up with them. It really IS a "small world!"

Finally, when the rain let up enough where my Mom felt comfortable enough to keep moving, we headed on to the Friar's Nook. My parents ordered hot dogs and I got the panko breaded mac and cheese with chocolate chip cookies. (They came in a bag and weren't too good). Unfortunately, the CM had accidentally charged our meal plan for an extra QS meal, so she had to wait for a manager to come over and refund the credit. It took a little bit, but we finally got it settled.

The mac and cheese was very good though and very filling. I couldn't even finish it and I was afraid of not being hungry by the time we had dinner. Unfortunately, the rain had kind of delayed our plans and now we were supposed to eat again in less than two hours. Oh, well... We honestly wouldn't have made it until 7 on empty stomachs.

It was while we were sitting down enjoying our food that I got a very strange text message from Steve... I'll just screen shot this and let his words do the talking.

So this was a HUGE shock because although they had been talking about getting engaged we did not think it was going to happen on this trip at all First they are only 24 and 25 (not that it means they are too young) and they need to do a lot of saving up before they can think about a wedding. In fact, Steve had even told us he was NOT going to propose only a few days earlier! I don't know if it was a spur of the moment thing or something he had been plotting the entire time. Just a few days ago at Universal, I thought they were going to come home broken up, so talk about a 180!

I know Steve said not to say anything to anyone, but I did clue my parents in. There really are no such things as secrets in my family and I couldn't keep that to myself. Soon after, Matt showed up and he shared that Steve had pulled him aside earlier today and told him his plan. I asked if he had a ring because this was really awful sudden. As it turns out, Steve had picked up just a small silver band from Disney Springs today with the intent to get her a proper ring as soon as he could. At first, I admit I kind of wrinkled my nose at that. Not to sound like one of Cinderella's jealous stepsisters, but getting engaged at Disney in front of the castle during Wishes has always been my dream engagement (as I'm sure it is for most single Disney gals ;)) and Stephanie knows that. So, I did kind of feel like she not only stole my fantasy and to top it all off she doesn't even have a legit ring? But then after I had my emotional response and I started to process it I understood more logically.

You see, Stephanie is very sensitive to jewelry. We aren't sure what exactly she's allergic to, but she can only wear stainless steel and possibly platinum. Anything else causes her to break out in a rash around the area the jewelry comes into contact with her skin. Since getting engaged, she has made some appointments with an allergist to determine what exact metals she can and cannot wear. So, I guess in her case the ring isn't as important because she wouldn't be able to wear it anyway.

Then it really began to sink in that my baby sister was about to become engaged! I was a mess of emotions. I was super happy for her, but then also a little jealous (I'm woman enough to admit that). Don't want to turn this TR into a pity party, but I have not been so lucky in meeting my Disney prince. (Someday he'll come, or at least that's what Snow White always says!) Anyway it was just super emotional and I knew I was going to be a wreck. How was I going to hold it together until Wishes?

We had time to do one attraction before leaving the park for our dinner reservation, so we decided to do Mickey's Phillarmagic. The line was a bit of a wait since a lot pf the crowds were doing indoor attractions to get out of the rain. I really do love Phillarmagic, but I think I was a little distracted by "other things" so my mind just wasn't really on it.

After our movie was over, it was about time to start heading towards the Contemporary to meet my Dad's friend before dinner. This was going to be one tense dinner!

Yeah, this was one of mine, too. Although, if I can put it into perspective, a friend was proposed to at Disneyland and they got married. They were together for quite a while and then her Prince Charming turned out to be an abusive frog. In fact, she had said to him when they were dating if he ever was going to propose, if it were at Disneyland, she couldn't say no. I say he took advantage of that, even if she had some reservations about the relationship to begin with. (Things went much better with her second husband until she passed away over a decade ago. F*** Cancer.)

Your (now-future) brother in law, however? Being sensitive enough to get a very specific kind of simple ring because he knows she's allergic to some kind of metal is a rad thing. I'll bet that all of the tension from them earlier was probably him being nervous about proposing to her.

I could see wanting to keep it a surprise and not tell anyone what I was doing. Hey, I kept our trip a secret from my kids for over 5 months and 3-4 days in the van. But considering he bought the ring there, thinking it was a spur of the moment thing. If you allow me to be a bit negative, you had mentioned you were afraid that by the end of the trip them going to be broken up. If that was true, than that is a big turn around and not a good reason to get engaged to 'save' the relationship. But in all honestly, I do wish them all the best and a very long and happy relationship.

On a more personal level, I hope you do find your Disney prince.

Waiting to see how things turned out.

Ditto! I hate them ! haha Loving your TR...can't wait to hear about the engagement :)

Glad I'm not the only one! I do like pineapple juice (especially with a little rum!) but I just wasn't big on the actual pineapple ice cream.

Steve really is a good guy. He definitely helps to get Stephanie in check when she's being "difficult." The simple ring turned out to be perfect for her in the end.

I may have over exaggerated a bit when I said a few days prior I was thinking they were going to come home broken up. They typically don't fight much, so it was a bit unlike them. Maybe he was extra sensitive if he had this whole engagement idea cooking in his head. I think they are good for each other in the long run though.

And thanks for hoping I find my Disney Prince. Hopefully someday I'll find someone who is crazy enough to put up with me lol.

Before we got to any of the engagement stuff we had to get through dinner first. We hopped on the monorail to the Contemporary and then headed up to Chef Mickey's. I was kind of excited because we had always wanted to eat there, but wound up changing our minds before we could. My parents are wary about buffets, but we really wanted to do a character meal for Steph and Steve to experience.

Steph and Steve had taken the bus from All Star Movies to the MK and was supposed to be meeting us at the Contemporary. We weren't there long before we spotted my Dad's friend George and his wife. They had been shopping down in DS. We talked for a few minutes and it became apparent that they were under the impression that they were going to join us for dinner. I had only made our reservation for 6 and I wasn't sure if we could just add on two people at the last minute. I didn't really want to be "that person" but it was a sticky situation. So, I felt so bad going up to the podium to check in and explain that we were going to wind up being a party of 8 vs a party of 6, but it was what it was. Luckily, there didn't seem to be a problem. We didn't have to really wait all that much longer. We wound up being seated at a large round table that gave us plenty of room. Not long after we were seated Steph and Steve showed up, so it worked out well.

Even though it was a buffet the food was pretty good. I wasn't too hungry since I had the macaroni and cheese earlier, but I managed to fill my plate with an assortment of food. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of my plate and I don't remember what all I had. I know I didn't finish my plate though.

Onto the characters... I'm missing a few of them because I think some are on my Mom's phone, but here is what I have. First one out was Goofy.

Then came Donald who posed back to back with me.

Just ignore Matt picking his teeth in the background.

Next up was Minnie. I of course had to show her my Minnie inspired nails which she loved. (I don't think I posted a pic of them at the beginning of the TR, so I'll do that now.)

My Minnie mouse nails that I was in love with!

I am glad to hear they are good together. There are always ups and downs in relationships. Best Wishes.

Or maybe you need something more grounded to offset you 'craziness'.
