Interesting, but I'm withholding judgement till the hours are posted. If they actually ARE *extra* hours as a bonus--then great. If they just close earlier than they would have and kick out non resort guests so that resort guest can have the park to themselves--then no. Evening hours are already an issue--this just may make it worse.

The last time I was at WDW in May, the Magic Kingdom was closing at 6PM Mon-Thurs. I hated the short hours.

Hopefully, this will give guests who stay on property a few extra hours.

I doubt they will close the Park any earlier that 6:00 just so they can add 3 extra hours for Resort guests.

I can see where this might cause some people to be upset that don't stay on property.

Especially the people with annual passes and the Florida Resident annual passes..they are going to feel cheated I would imagine.

We will be down there during this time and I have a question:

It mentions presenting your "Key to the world" for entry. I would imagine that if I have a room key and our valid 7day park hopper tickets in hand we will be fine...right?

Guests staying at Shades of Green may participate in the morning offering only.

 :brick: I am shocked and appalled at this exception. Not fair, not fair. What happened to appreciating our armed forces?

Okay, done with my rant. I'm really disappointed with the above, but otherwise this is an AWESOME idea. When we discussed this rumor in an earlier thread, most people thought there was no way Disney would do an early entry and a late entry. I think it's incredible.

And hopefully, if it becomes a permanent thing, the above exception will not!:D

MK these weeks has a regular closing at 8:30 pm, so it will close at 11:30 PM on Wednesday, May 19, for me! YAY!!!! Sounds like the Park After Dark is go for launch! I think a split system like this would be WILDLY popular. Well-done, Disney! And look at all those attractions open for the late hours! It's like having E-Ride Nights for free at Epcot, MGM, AK, and MK!

Can someone who works in the parks explain how they will only keep Resort Guests in the park?

Are they going to do a wristband? Having to flash your Key to the World Card would be kinda a hassle. Even such, an local like me can flash one of my old cards without them knowing, unless they look really hard in the dark.

Either way, sounds like a great perk

This is WONDERFUL!!!! I can't wait to take advantage of this. Many of our previous trips, the parks closed early, and we weren't able to do much after dark. This trip I was determined to do as much after dark as possible, this just made it even easier.

WOOHOO!!!

This is the best news in a LONG time!

I hope it's a HUGE success and becomes a regular part of summer business!!!

My favorite thought: ANIMAL KINGDOM AT NIGHT!!! How cool that must be to ARRIVE at the park at 4 instead of LEAVING it!!!

It's a dream come true for night owls again....just like old times!!!

I give this idea (4) little disembodied clapping heads!!!

Read the info that turkey leg boy posted. They are using a wristband system exactly like E-Ride Nights, which may be picked up during the last 3 hours of operation each day at various shops and the park entrance.

This sounds great! We are going to be down there the first few days of this test program. I wish my kids were a little older. At 4 and 5, we are lucky they can make it to 8:30, let alone 11:30.

Quick question: I see Maelstrom and El Rio del Tiempo are open for the evening hours. Does that mean that all of World Showcase will be open til midnight?

I am guessing no. There is really no reason to keep all of the pavillions open, just the most popular ones. Regardless, these offerings are much better than we get during the morning Extra Magic Hours or E-Ride Nights!

Each non-Disney resort on Disney property is given the opportunity to pay for the Disney extras to their guests, like the Swan and Dolphin who have everything except the ability to charge back to your room from the parks/stores, etc.

It looks as though Shades of Green opted only for the morning option.

That is possible though I've never heard of Shades of Green having to pay for extras like Early Entry.

My husband and I were speculating that maybe Disney is only honoring SOG's current contract which would only have included early entry.

But let me say again ... I hope this injustice is taken care of soon!:D

Will the morning and evening extra magic hours be on the same day for each park? (Sorry if i missed this being said)
