Comcast Rumor I hope!

I just left the house of someone who works for Comcast in a fairly high up position. He said that Comcast is in the process of trying to buy Disney. I basically said yeah right but he insisted that it's true and that Disney, at this point, is receptive.

I doubt Disney would let that happen; but if it did, that would totally suck to no end! :hurl::hurl::hurl::brick::brick::brick:

Even though this is old news, the thought of Comcast owning Disney sickens me. Especially since Comcast has some of the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I wish I could say it was just one bad experience, but they are a consistent bunch.

just b/c they already made an offer in 2004 and got rejected doesn't mean they can't make another shot at it. It's been 5 years since 2004 now, maybe they feel like they would be able to now.

Aside from the points everyone else has made, if Disney were actually "receptive" to any offers from Comcast (should they again be made), the companies would have to make certain disclosures with the SEC. That would mean the negotiations would be public knowledge by this point.

If I remember correctly, the original '04 bid for Disney was laughed at by experts. That would be like your local coffee house trying to buy Starbucks. I highly doubt it would happen again.

Exactly.... Also, if this was to ever happen, I doubt it wouldbe the whole company... They would probably only want to buy the cable networks (DISNEY XD, Disney Channel, ESPN, etc...)...

To understand where this is coming from, you should know about Steve Burke.

Probably the most talented Disney executive since Frank Wells. He saved Disneyland Paris from being forced to close; he invented the Disney Store concept; he fought agianst the very over-expansion of the Disney Stores which later killed them (after he left the Disney Store to run Disneyland Paris, Paul Pressler over-expanded the Stores which led to their demise as a viable business.)

After Frank Wells died, Eisner alienated Steve Burke. Burke left Disney and become the No. 2 guy at Comcast.

Check out this article from 2004.

I remember the whole fiasco.... I remember contemplating what the company would be called if that happend.Comcast/Disney or Disney/Comcast??

I also remember talks of buyers ripping apart Disney. They were saying it could be a buyer for content/studios and another for the parks...

what a huge freakin mess!!!

It could happen again, but Disney is alot better shape. The comcast bid also came around the last days of Eisner and all that fun...
