I assume there is no coffee makers at POP..so here's my question.. any issues if I bring my Keurig? We are driving so we have room to bring it..just wanted to see if anyone has done this?

Years back (maybe 5), brought our grinder/brewer in our car and into our room (CR garden wing). No one said anything. That morning coffee was crucial. Missed it this spring when had to rely on coffee shop in CR lobby.

We brought our own small coffee maker in April at Pop. Sometimes I just wanted to get up in the morning and make a cup instead of walking to the food court. :slurp:

DW and I brought our single cup coffe maker(Its a Hamelton Beach?) It used the coffe pods by folgers and it worked out great. We didn't try to hide ours we just put it on the shelf above the clothes hanger, only to get it out of the way and nobody said anything to us. So go ahead and enjoy your much loved and needed cup o joe in the mornings.

My dad NEEDS his morning cup of coffee (well, we all do, but not as much as him) and can't stand Nescafe (can anyone? lol)---he was so excited when we got a Keureg last year because now he said he can bring his coffee maker and have "real" coffee. I don't see why they'd have an issue---they have the blow dryer there on the vanity with the special plug, so as long as you plug the Keureg there, I don't think it would be a problem.
Heck---bring it to the food court and make a little money selling "real" coffee---lol

My wife is keeping her eyes peeled for the mini Keurig single cup brewer this holiday season. She is hoping to find one on clearance or just really cheap at Target or something for the very reason you mentioned. She wants to bring one down with us so that she doesn't have to miss her morning coffee and absolutely LOVES the Keurig Single Serve Special Edition Coffee Maker we got last Christmas. Heck, I even became a coffee drinker because of it, and I never drank coffee before.

I'm sure the day after Christmas, all the major retailers will be having sales and you can find something. Walmart had a coffee maker (not single cup, but normally $30 I think) for $9 on black friday weekend. I might buy something like that for our trip in May.

That's true too, thanks! Never even thought of just getting a regular coffee maker. Might just have to look into that instead.

I know she LOVES her Keurig though and I did happen to see the red mini one on right now at Future Shop (a Best Buy owned store up here) for $69 Canadian, which isn't bad considering the same one is going for $99 U.S. at Target.

The last time we stayed at POP, we bought a 4 cup coffee maker and Walgreens then gave it away the day we left. I think it was under $10.00 at the time.

We must have our coffee as soon a a foot is planted on the ground.

We'll be doing the same thing with a fridge next week. They wanted ten bucks a day to rent one, and I read a number of reviews saying they were smaller than expected - IE smaller than a typical dorm fridge, so we picked one up for around $35 at Walmart.

I just got back from our trip. We stayed at POFQ. I'm a coffee snob so i had my Starbucks Via instant coffee and disposable coffee cups. Every morning I'd race to get dressed so we could go do breakfast at Sassagoula Floatworks. I brought my disposable cups w/Via along with a smaller disposable cup that are stacked by the in-room pot w/my pouch of reduced sugar maple instant oatmeal. When the guys got their breakfast they brought me a carton of skim milk for my coffee. I used the hot water at the beverage center to make my meal. And, we'd only end up using 2 or 3 counter service credits. Worked out well!

Here's the thing: why can't they make the to-go Starbucks-like disposable cups in a 20 oz. size & package them in smaller quantities??? I searched and searched but could only find 16 oz. or smaller size. I have no need for 1000 cups so I wasn't buying the case of 20 oz. cups. I tried to get my local Starbucks to sell me 15 of their venti cups but they wouldn't. Hubby told me to go order 15 venti brewed coffees and have them hold the coffee but I wasn't doing all that. Lol! Throw away cups are a must for me because I don't want to be washing and/or carrying a coffee cup around. I'd rather sip my coffee then toss the cup. Sooooo, anyone who wants to go in on a case of 20 oz. paper cups let me know. I'll need them again next go around. Lol!

If you end up taking a regular 10-12 cup pot, I would recommend making "coffee kits" at home and taking. We are DVC, but, I still take them because they pack down better than all the parts.

This is what I do: I grind my beans at home enough for the pot. I put those in wax paper and fold over-tape shut if you wish. Then I put two filters in a sandwich bag and seal. Then all kits go in a gallon bag.

I include a couple of extra kits because sometimes you drink a lot and sometimes it is nice to have in the afternoon/evening.

I think pack individual bags of Coffeemate, Splenda and/or Sweet and low and put those in a gallon bag.

We also buy those To-Go coffee cups with lids for walking to and waiting on the bus.

It is really nice to set up the night before and just turn on or it makes up quickly in the mornings.

:wave:Enjoy the Joe!
