Wow, and I thought that the t-shirts and such were on the expensive side, these new things make them look super cheap (inexpensive)! A $300 baby blanket, well I guess that enough people will lay out that much, so that someone will make a bundle,

 Yeah, right. Disney furniture and fancy clothes coming out in spring. furniture runs up to $5,000 per piece. Designer clothes for up to $1400. baby blankets for $300, etc. trying to appeal to the upper class buyer I guess. I will stick with the $20 t-shirts. they are good enough for me.....

Let's see....couple of trips to the World..or Furniture....wow, not so tough! I can't believe anyone would want to pay $5000 a piece! I'm sticking with the $7.50 Mickey figurine. Always worked well for me.

I didn't watch the video, but I'm pretty sure whatever it's talking about already exists. It's called Disney Couture and Vintage Disney. I see the stuff at Saks all the time. Sweaters for $700 are the highest priced items I've seen...

I actually think it's pretty smart from a marketing perspective. I mean, they are on to something by providing alternatives to "Mickey logo stuff". I love WDW but I'm not into the generic Mickey merchandise and therefore wouldn't spend $20 on a t-shirt that I'm not going to wear. However, I might spend $50 on a Disney shirt of a different style. However, I think they are missing that in-between price range. I know that they'll get people who will pay the prices they are asking no matter how extravagent.

Yes. They do already exist. That's what the piece is about.

Oh, well the video is a little late. This stuff has been around since well before Christmas. That's the first time I saw it, and I somehow doubt I saw it on the first day it was released.

This is not always the great thing since sliced bread that companies like to think it is. Licensing the name out can be problematic when the products don't live up to the consumer's expectations and you have to be on top of these companies to ensure that they are producing a quality product. This can actually backfire on them big time if they aren't careful, which would put people off from buying any disney products and have a bad concept of disney as a whole.

Perhaps that's why they are sticking to luxury items? There is a certain amount of certainty on the quality of the product?

The World of Disney introduced a line about 2 years back that was in that mid-range. It was a line of clothing for women that ranged from $60-$200. It was not very popular. My DW did however enjoy some of the designs.

Here's what it's all about in a nutshell.

You're 6 years old...Mommy and Daddy take you to Disney World...you have an absolute blast thus it makes for some great memories.

Flash forward...now you're 45 years old and you're a CEO of a major corporation and bring in 6 figures. You only shop at the finest stores.

Oh wait...what is THIS? Merchandise that brings back your wonderful childhood memories...I'll buy this, and I don't CARE what it cost because money is no object for me now.

Capitalism at it's best.
These Disney people are no dummies..it's a win/win situation.

Let's see, I have a couple of my son's team shirts that I wear to regattas; the same with my husband's rowing club. This just makes it easier to find "our group" in the crowd.

I did have a wdwmagic tee that I wore for meets. I have to get a new one.

I do believe those are the only things I wear that have a readily recognizable logo. There might be some sort of letter on my walking shoes, but otherwise, I won't advertise ANYONE's product unless they pay me for it. I HATE the fact that car manufacturer's put their name on the car. And I always remove the dealer decals.

If I really liked a "Disney" product, and it was of equal quality and price to similar articles, I might consider buying it.

Here is the link to the Walt Disney Signature Furniture Collection by Drexel Heritage

I've had my eye on that line of furniture for well over a year now... its very nice! VERY! But it's just insain $$$ for some re-created pseudo retro vibe pieces inspired by what was (used to be) in Walt's office.

However... I could probally go with the Hemingway collection by Thomasville for a fraction of the cost (of the above furniture line). Thats if, I were going to purchase high end furniture, right at this moment. :lookaroun

Forget the shorts...I want those crystalized ears! There only $1200. :zipit: :brick:

Ok, I really do want them, but I'm not getting them. At least not until I can pay for them.

I really don't see what the big deal is with this. Yes, the items are high end and expensive. Maybe, just maybe, people with a lot of money also enjoy Disney products. If you are thinking, "should I buy this piece of furniture or take a trip to Disney World?" Then the items aren't for you.
