ah, but the order is: Safety, Courtesy, Efficiency, Show. =)
after all the rumpus going on at DL (at Big Thunder (twice over), Roger Rabbit, Columbia, and so on...), I think they were more concerned with that girl getting her hand lopped off between the boat and the track than with retaining a Caribbean flavor.
plus, it just wouldn't have been as funny to hear a Pirate say: "ARRRR! Ye be losin' yer 'and right off th' starboard side dead ahead if ye dont cease all splashin' about in th' black, curse-ed sea, ya foul wench!"
okay, never mind, that would have been funnier....

I had someone tape the little mermade show in front of me. They had the screen open so there was a nice glow in my face the whole time. Then they would switch back and forth to the nightvision and you could see all the puppetears running around on stage. It totally ruined it.

When I worked in the boatride in the Mexican Pavillion, I kept telling people to fasten their seatbelts right when the boat was getting dispatched - their reactions and look in their faces were priceless!
We also once had a guest fall in that water when she tried to reach her purse... the cast members working that day were really afraid because she could have been injured with the pumps in there.
