CM Discount

I know, I'm asking a lot of questions about the perks. It isn't why I'm signing up, but I'd rather ask you all than pepper them the first day with questions about how I benefit rather than how I contribute.

While attending the F&W fest one day I was about to purchase something and then thought, if I wait a bit, I might get a CM discount. What is the CM discount for

Purchasing items in a store, say a souvenier wine glass?
Staying in a WDW hotel?
Playing a Disney Golf Course?
Purchasing food?
Purchasing alcohol?
Restaurant meals?

Which perks kick in right away and which require acrual time?

My guess is you can purchase things right away with a discount, but getting people in the parks for free should require some time invested.

What about health insurance and vacation time?

1. 20%, 40% starting the 1st.
2. The best we can get is 50% (I believe), but depending on when you do it, it could be lower. I just did All Star Sports with my mom for 25% off, but I only booked it a week in advance, so there you go
3. I'm sure there is a discount, but I'm really not sure what it is
4. Quick Service, nope. Packaged food from a merchandise shop, 20%
5. Nope
6. apparently 20% for lunch and after 8:30 pm, but I've had it given to me during normal dinner hours as well. It doesn't hurt to ask

Congrats on your nearing CM status :)

Taryn,

Thanks for the response. Are you saying that right now all CM's get 20% off merchandise but in 2 days it goes up to 40%? What brought this about, other than absurdly low wages?:D

And is this for all CM's or just CP's.

Once you get your cast ID (need a gov't issued ID at Traditions to get your cast ID) you can get discounts in stores and restaurants. Hotel discounts can be made once you get your Portal log-in (you can set this up on your own once you know your Perner and must be done on a company computer/portal kiosk).

Getting into the parks requires your cast ID, until you recieve your Disney Blue Pass (Maingate card) in the mail you can only get you and one other person in with your company ID. Seasonal gets 3 ppl in 6 times a year. Part Time and Full Time get 3ppl 12 times a year.

Health Insurence for part time will be mailed to you and must be returened something like 90 days after your hire date. Full time health is done each year in late Ocotober/early Novemeber, I think you can sign up through the Portal when you get hired or they will mail something to you.

Vacation time is only earned by Full Time CMs. You bid for your vacations. (Shift bids just finished)

I always wonder... why people apply for the job...
One of the first things they ask is how much discount they get... :lookaroun

Because when you get hired, everyone you know asks you what you can get for them. So you want to find out.

I'm now a CM for a little less than a month and the discounts are not why I joined, nor do I take advantage of as many as I could, but it is nice to know they are there.

By the way, I'm having a blast!
