News Club 33 coming to Walt Disney World this Fall

If the lounge in the American Adventure the old Catwalk Bar location at the Brown Derby are two of the Club 33 locations, I feel much better about not parting with my money as I was really hoping for something new and unique and not just re-purposed.
I don’t know. Re-purposed spaces are just fine especially if the re-purposed space is significantly better than the original. Gutting that existing space completely gives a lot of options for it to be reimagined. Sometimes keeping that exact location has its benefits.

Isn't this really designed for business people? This is the equivalent of a luxury suite at the ball park. So you have to look at the prices in those terms. The question is does Orlando have the businesses/wealth that southern California has to support such a club. To me thats a big question mark. I guess you can include Tampa and Miami as markets this could pull from. A stretch would be the NYC market if you want to send clients down for a long weekend. It will be interesting to see how it does.
Well they are putting in Golden Oaks which is full of $10m+ homes, so... yes.

What more does Club 33 offer to Golden Oak residents then they already have? Pretty sure their yearly dues include AP's and extra tickets. Food won't be that great at MK Club 33.
Well they will use the same kitchen as Skipper Canteen and Liberty Tree, but they can come up with any menu they like.
We ate at Skipper in Sept. and were pleasantly surprised. All three of us were very happy with our food.

Not sure if there was already a picture of the logo from the Brown Derby, but here’s another I took during my trip last week:

But it’s a very small, finite amount of people, not sure enough to warrant the operating costs of 4 clubs. I understand there are more perks besides dining/drinking in an exclusive environment but these people have already been catered to in the parks (and for the money they spent on their homes, rightfully so) that I don’t think even they will see the reason to shell out the money to join this, and from what I heard they haven’t really jumped at the bit yet. But with all exclusive clubs, all it takes is one then everyone has to do it.

I'm confused. So apparently the WDW version of Club 33 is just a small cocktail lounge in each park, serving drinks and appetizers? There's no restaurant and no formal dining room, even at the Magic Kingdom location?

What is the point exactly, and why even call it Club 33?

Money. That’s it.

Remember the white VIP tents that used to live in Tomorrowland, of all places?

If someone lives in Golden Oaks and already has easy access to the outstanding bars and lounges at DS and the Deluxe resorts, I don’t understand the appeal of fighting the parks just for a drink in a fake Club 33 with no historical significance. But people will join for the privilege of being a member.

I don’t know, If someone does live in Golden Oak, I don’t see them wanting to drive to DS or a deluxe resort just to go to a lounge. But if they are already enjoying a Park day which they probably do quite often (otherwise why buy in GO as a Disney Fan with means to do so) these “Club” locations would provide a privileged and relaxing get away from the crowds. Not to mention the perks of the Club exceed the resident perks of GO. As far as a ‘fake” Club 33, I am sure the new members of the “Club@WDW, Shanghai, and Tokyo” are proud to be a part of a place that shares the name and legacy of the original club that even Walt unfortunately never enjoyed. It will certainly feel real to all of the members when they are enjoying their special place away from it all. The 1901 lounge at DCA in a sense is more exclusive of a spot than the Club 33 at Disneyland in that the Club33 member actually has to be present to escort guests inside. Members don’t have to be present to make reservations for guests in the Disneyland Club. Just saying.

Honestly the proof still remains to be seen if the perks of being a WDW Club 33 member will outweigh being a Golden Oak member. If a Golden Oak member wants to grab a drink at Disney Springs or a resort, the Golden Oak private car will take them, not to mention full concierge service from groceries to park access /fastpasses.
The big perk (in my opinion) of being a Disneyland Club 33 member is the add on events. They get to do some pretty cool things with some pretty cool guests like Tony Baxter, Kim Irvine, Brett Iwan and offered pretty cool access like a special walk through of the track of Indiana Jones Adventure Temple of the Forbidden Eye. I always fail to find what Walt Disney World has to offer that is on par with those events that Disneyland can offer with a greater pool of resources nearby than what walt Disney world has.
The difference that Tokyo’s and Shanghai’s clubs have that walt Disney world’s doesn’t is those clubs opened with the park and have history with those resorts investors, imagineers, and founders. Tokyo’s has been more successful than Shanghai’s. The old california 33 manager used to have a good relationship with Tokyo’s and was able to make reservations for California members as a courtesy, now it’s a little tougher. Shanghai’s though it’s pretty easy for access in theirs if you know who to ask. From what I heard, at this point, Disneyland had no plans on allowing WDW guests access to their club or 1901, and is remaining firm on that. Also I’m hearing Florida will not be offering corporate membership and the opening team has been instructed to really watch the members, their guests, and their spending habits like hawks. So if you’re a new member thinking you can subsidize your membership by selling the goodies they have for sale on eBay, they will wonder why you’re buying 2 Exclusive Dooney bags a week and better have a good answer why.
If you couldn’t tell by now I’ve been finding this roll out very fascinating.

Don't forget status. There's a whole category of Disney visitors that just want to make it clear they can afford the most "premium" experiences Disney has to offer.

Disneyland has done literally everything they can over the last ten years to dissuade individuals from keeping their memberships. They much prefer corporate clients who pay the much larger corporate fees and keep the restaurant filled 365 days/year by using the space to wine and dine clients. The percentage of actual members and their immediate family in Club 33 at any given moment is minuscule.
