Classics and Refurbs

So I just came back from Disney. I went on a lot of "classic" attractions for the first time: Journey into Imagination, Winnie the Pooh, Country Bear Jamboree, etc. I had varying experiences. Country Bear Jamboree was pretty great, imo, but Winnie the Pooh felt really quick and lackluster (and I'm a big WTP fan). I was unimpressed with Figment, which surprised me because of the following that's sprung up around him. I later realized that the ride I got wasn't the one many fell in love with. Butterfly in the cage was cool, though.

Anyway, I'm making this thread to discuss the good, bad, and ugly of classic attractions and changing them. One of my favorites (Dinosaur) is being refurbed right now, and I'm hoping we get some awesome changes (though I'm not counting on it, I realize refurbs often just mean little touch-ups). I wouldn't change something like country bear hall much...but I feel like Winnie the Pooh could do with being changed out for something like the Honey Hunt at Tokyo disney (which is basically the same thing, only with much better technology and a lot more going on).

I feel like, in spite of complaints, we're in a pretty cool age for attractions. The Little Mermaid and Mine Train rides, for example, have really cool effects that are a huge draw (I rode little mermaid twice---little things like ariel's "underwater" hair and the humanlike way they moved were incredible). I feel like leaving (some) attractions untouched kinda leaves them in the dust.

SO anyway, what do you guys think? What attractions do you think can do with some changes?? What changes would you like to see in the future? What do you think can do just fine staying the way it is (I can already imagine some of the answers for this one lol)?

Yes
In case you didn't know, MK's Winnie the Pooh used to be Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

At this point I'd consider Spaceship Earth a classic, and while the 2008 refurb is all right, it's not as good as the versions that preceded it. It's fine until it gets to the descent and the touch screens. Also Project Tomorrow isn't really that cool compared to the two Global Neighborhoods and even Earth Station.

Imagination is nothing at all like the original. What you saw was awful and should be an embarrassment to Disney. Not that they screwed up and did it wrong, but, because they have kept it that way for all these years. Look on You Tube for the original and even though there are no real clear depictions you can still see the difference. Better yet, key in Martin's Tribute to Imagination. That will give you an idea of why so many people liked it and how the Butterfly was just a cheap slight of hand trick that doesn't even begin to let you know how awesome the original was. The problem is... they didn't have even "one little spark" of inspiration when creating the follow-ups. (yes, there was more then one change)

I remember @marni1971 mentioned that he's planning on making an updated version of the Imagination tribute video.

Country Bears is in need of a bit of a refurb, from what I've seen (the Bears were looking a bit tired in 2008, also bring back the talking animal heads). Pooh should be turned into the Hunny Hunt if possible, and Imagination should go back to the original attraction.

The Tomorrowland Speedway is in desperate need of a renovation. If it's going to be kept, at least switch it to electric. That's like the bare minimum.

I think the bear AAs have been refurbed since 2008. With more guests, I get the thinking to shorten the shows to rotate more guests through. That having been said it would be nice to see the longer original version again. (Goes for Tiki too). Maybe a "limited time engagement" at MKs 50th in 2021?

That's a relief to hear.
And that'd be really neat if they chose to do that.

So for whatever reason I seem to think a good deal about this area of the park as well as Liberty Square. My own personal thoughts would be to turn the speedway into an indoor attraction with electric carts and a Tronified sort of theme BUT...also build another ride on top of it and have the two intermingle as with the People Mover and Space Mountain. Just a pipe dream of course but...a guy can dream can't he???;)

We rode Imagination a couple of weeks ago for the 1st time in a looooong time, honestly I don't think its as bad as everyone on here seems to think it is. I rode the original plenty of times growing up and while the current version is no where near as good, without comparing it to that and taking it for what its worth ( an indoor dark ride that has less than a 5 min wait at all times) its not bad. Honestly I'd rather ride this than Pooh at MK any day, and I would say its on the same level as Nemo (not saying much). Also I look at these rides through the eyes of my daughter who is 3 1/2 so if she enjoyed it, I would say that it did its job.

Classic rides I would like to see updated: MK- People mover, EPCOT-Energy
