it's called an avatar (don't ask me why) and they have to be a certain size... There is a thread all about how to get them from your harddrive to the board.

Thanks for the info...unfortunately, I'm not the brightest penny in the bunch when it comes to computers, so I really don't know how to do any of that stuff. Guess I live my life online in a perpetual "blonde moment"!

Hey I am new to this site and I have personal experience that BDis is a moron. Apparently on the Disney Corner forums you can't disagree with anyone's opinion. That is why i was banned, pathetic, isn't it? So anyway, I finally stumble across a good site and here I am. Does anyone know how to get a cool avatar instead of the ones that are shown to you when you register?

Well you can get banned for disagreeing here if you aren't respectful about it.

Just be careful when disagreeing....you'll be fine :)

So you'll please tell me if I do anything too bad? Ya'll know I'm paranoid about that stuff!

Like I said before...it's all about respect.

Examples:

1) "I really dont' think that is a good idea because WDW has never been known for builiding a coaster that is visible from anywhere in the park. Plus I personally feel it would cheapen the magic a bit :)"

vs

2) "What..are you stupid? That's a pretty idiotic thing to suggest. You want a suggestion? Go to the doctor and have your head examined because idiocy like yours isn't natural. Disney isn't stupid enough to do something like this. This idea and whole discussion just makes me sick"

Easier to understand now? As bad as that 2nd one is, we've had guys (no longer around :)) that have posted like that. Needless to say, you don't make many friends that way, and most were banned or left since then.

Just remember: Golden rule...treat everyone how you would like to be treated. That will help problems not to start.

Plus these things :  :animwink: :) :D  :king: don't hurt either :)

Dude...you could've PM'd me with all of that...I'm not stupid, just insecure! :)

Oh..I know that, and I wasn't trying to insult you in the least. However, I think this is a good learning tool for others out there as long as the subject was being discussed :)

I understood you. I hope Cymbaldiva sees you were not insulting her... :) You pretty much covered it and I hope others take it into consideration. Thanks for the effort thinking about those examples!

I'm trying!

Hi everyone!

Great examples given...I am just totally insecure! :) I hope that people do learn from the examples of how to behave - I'd really love to be in a board where we can all at least debate peacefully! :)

Peace Ya'll!

Then why don't you stop making needless comments on other postings, like the "Progess: It's Not Gonna Happen" thread?

Your last few postings (that apparently seem to always come after my postings) haven't been very pleasant, peaceful or nice.

But it's nice to see that you're trying to learn proper protocol.

Thanks you.

What's happened with the new member status levels?
I suddenly went from being a 'Member' to being 'New Here' :(
I don't feel very new - heck, I'm 44

All I can say is I love my site but it could never compare to what Steve has created. I try to keep my mouth shut so I can stay here but sometimes people make me mad or i slip. Sorry if I offended anyone, it must have been a bad day.

And what a great example of pleasantness this has been...I will try to learn from it.

Thanks you

Good. Let's hope so.

Then maybe you'll stop writing extremely rude things like "Bored now!" as posts. How incredibly insensitive a comment like that is, especially when it's on page 8 of a pretty well hashed over topic like the "Progress: It's Not Gonna Happen" thread. It's rude to not only me, the previous poster, but to everyone else hashing over the topic.

So let me add this as a suggestion of etiquette (sp) for these boards. Try to think before you post. In other words, ask yourself, "Is this comment I'm about to post (as in "Bored now!" something I really need to share with others?" Because most of us when we get disinterested in a thread usually just log off of it and find something else of interest.

Also try to have something to say that actually adds to the thread discussion. You basically told me three times during that thread to shut up but really didn't elaborate much on what it was that I said that made you upset. I got the feeling that it was because I mentioned Horizons and my feelings about it. Again, sorry if you didn't like how I felt about the former Epcot Pavilion. But it would be much more nicer and peaceful if you'd instead elaborate on why I upset you, as in "How can you say that about Horizons? To me that ride was (insert list of why you loved it here)."

Or to put it another way, ever notice that you end your postings with "Peace, y'all" when you're being nice? And you don't when you're being rude?
Perhaps that's a dead giveaway about what you do that causes people to take exception to some of the things that you post.

Also making fun of type-o's isn't very nice either. So quit acting like others aren't able to chat peacefully and try to do much better yourself.

End of "ramble."

Wow! If that is positive, peaceful and constructive, please don't show me negative, rude and arrogant! :animwink:

The only person who keeps making this a flame-fest is you, Cymbaldiva. Look at the words you choose and the things you say when you don't like what a person posted. All your rude little comments are nothing more than a carefully worded flipping of the bird to another poster.

Re-read this very thread from beginning to end. Not so long ago, you said the following: "So you'll please tell me if I do anything too bad. Y'all know I'm paranoid about this stuff."

So do you really want to be told when you do something bad or not? Doesn't seem like it to me. Or was that instruction just for Fievel? Do you want him to be your watchdog? Because much as I hate to say this, to me you're starting to come across as either a hypocrite or a crazy person.

It's all good and fine to "talk the talk" when it comes to being respectful in your posts. It's another thing to actually do it. And again, I say rude posts like "Bored now!" and carefully worded insults like what's all over several of your previous post won't win you many friends here.

You've also claimed that you've been PMed regarding some of your antics by other members of this board. Maybe that in itself is indicative of what you're doing wrong.

So call me arrogant all you want. At least when I post, I actually make a point rather than a rude comment like you seem to prone to doing.
