The popular attraction from the new Walt Disney Studios in Paris is being strongly tipped to be installed into the Disney MGM Studios in 2005.

Below is a description from the Paris version.

SCRIPT

Art deco and high technology
Guests take their seats in an 1100-seat movie theatre that is reminiscent of the projection rooms found in the Hollywood movie studios. Seen from the outside, the studio presents the same Spanish Revival architecture as the movie palaces built in Hollywood in the 1930s. Inside, the screening room is equipped with the very latest technological innovations, while everything from the usher's uniforms to the art deco interior design offer guests a nostalgic glimpse of the cinema of the past.

The magic of the movies
The cinema show gets under way with a selection of cinema's greatest moments. Suddenly, a member of the audience interrupts the screening. The wizard on the silver screen is distracted by this, and magically transports the culprit from the auditorium into the movie! The 'hero' is plunged into an incredible series of adventures, finding himself in the midst of a variety of film genres including comedy, westerns, action, adventure, musicals and… romance.

A difficult choice
During the adventure, the hero falls in love with the young and beautiful leading lady, and at one point attempts to save her life by taking an arrow that was destined for her.
The dramatic climax to the film features a knight who hurls a huge sword 'through' the silver screen, offering the hero an escape route to reality. Once back, he is nevertheless confronted with a choice: should he stay in his own familiar world or risk everything and return to an unknown place where love may await…?

We thought Cinemagique was one of the best things Disney Studios Paris had to offer -- we went back to see it a second time because we enjoyed it so much (unlike Animagique, which we slept through). Cinemagique was a very simple with a few well-timed special effects. It probably didn't cost much money to make, but everyone was laughing the whole way through. This would be a fun little addition to MGM -- and I'd love to get to see it again without going all the way to France.

Agreed, but when I started reading the description of the attraction building and all of that... Well, I'd say people would kill the Great Movie Ride for this one, since the concept of "Ride the Movies" works for it. I'd hate to see it happening, and I hope I'm not giving anyone ideas!! :lookaroun

That sounds like the "GMR Replacement"...I will be angry if it is...I think GMR should stay, or be replaced with a Disney Villains attraction...but whatever...I'll probabally end up enjoying it! ;)

Nah, putting it in the GMR's area would be silly, too much room for a theater attraction..Probably gonna be put in the adjacent ABC theater, it's a BIG theater, and hey, it's empty. :)

The empty ABC theater makes the most sence.

It is about the same size, seating wise.

TMGR building would be to big for it, and the Sound Theater is way too small.

I agree that the ABC theater sounds like a good possibility but the GMR facade is already one of a historical theater and just because we think there's too much space doesn't mean they couldn't do it. Actually, I think putting it where the GMR is would be the best possible outcome. Before anybody starts throwing things at their monitor, hear me out: If they were to put this theater in that building, just about the whole thing could fit into the front of the building where people currently wait to get on the ride. That would leave the entire ride portion of the building untouched. They would then have the option of creating a new entrance for the ride or they could gut the rest of the building and replace it with one or two other attractions...

Since Superstar Television went out, they have used that area for semi-temporary stuff. I don't think that's an incredibly bad idea. I think they could probably do more of that kind of thing and use it for different things seasonally like Super Soaps weekends and Star Wars Weekends and maybe a show for halloween and christmas and other times of the year. However they worked it, they could make it something that was either constantly fresh or at least something that was seasonally fresh.

As much as I like GMR, I think that if I rode it for the first time today, I would be very disappointed with it. At the time it opened, it seemed innovative but by today's standards, nothing seems all that exciting to me. The live actors part comes across sort of obvious and lame and I haven't heard the driver get a good round of applause at the end in a long, long time. While, they could probably spruce things up quite a bit with some modern special effects and ad new scenes or possibly make the cars a simulator base of some sort, this kind of stuff costs money and GMR has been around for a long time. They would probably get a lot more marketing bang for their buck by replacing it and adding new attraction(s) that they could heavily advertise and promote than they would for updating an old attraction. doesn't make me any happier than anyone else but I'm pretty sure that sad dose of reality plays into why we've lost some of the other attractions we all liked over the years.

Heck no, I hope that was hypothetical.

Muppets is on our "to do" at MGM list every time, along with Millionaire, ToT, RnR, and GMR.

Absolutely not. BUT, if something happens where Disney can no longer use the Muppets and they had to replace it, I'd be OK with it. Though that opens up a different can of worms, as I'd be so angry with Disney for not finding a way to buy the Muppets in the first place.

I would say to put it instead of TGMR but like you've said it'd hardly take up any space. And I agree it should go in the ABC theater. The only reason I said it should replace TGMR is because I could rally care less about it. Plus I think it would fit the theme of the Chinese theater cuz it'll be a mmovie inside the theater. I'm jus saying that I would like to see TGMR go and the other ride replace it. Also I think that they should put other buildings next to it to use up the space.

I personally think Cinemagique should try to be incorporated as a a preshow to the actual GMR.... Disney could gut the inside of the facade, and put Cinemagique.... we wait in line (probably outside, b/c of a lack of space).... SO we'd wait in line, go in, watch Cinemagique, exit the theater, and go on the GMR (which could hopefully go through a semi-major rehab, fixing it up).......

Another question. What building in Disney Studios Paris has a sorceror hat in front of it? If it's Cinemagique, than the addition of the sorceror hat in front of GMR could be a bad omen......

Very good point, hadn't thought about that.:lookaroun

I don't think the one with the hat is it.

Anyway... I would hate to see GMR go.

I would much rather see a real replacement for ABC. But when you think about it, that area is for TV and Radio.

So far that was the best idea I saw on the subject.

I don't know, it looks like a good idea. What I'd really like to see is an attraction based on Who's Line is it Anyway. I don't know how to make it, but they better find a way. And, while we're on it, make a Monsters Inc. ride. Or just add all three.

I hate the idea of another simulator. :( One in each park is good. A new verson of GMR is the best. Someone else said that we could have other rides use the rest of the building. Two things, will Disney do that in the recent modes of cost cutting, and where would you enter. Millionaire and back there is already jammed, so the enterence can't be there. So where could it be?

The show sounds too long to be a pre-show. Hey, is this move in English? Otherwise they'd have to make a whole new movie. I dont want to watch a dubbed show.

I, too, would hate to see the GMR go, but I would very much like to see it updated. I would rather have a ride be the center attraction than a movie, athough it could be both. I think if they ever do change the movie ride, they should make a completely new track, mabey a new ride system.
