Cinderella's Golden Carrousel to change its name June 1

Effective June 1, 2010, Cinderella's Golden Carrousel, the authentic, antique carrousel ride for all ages in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom Park will change its name to Prince Charming Regal Carrousel.

And why would they change it, it's going to be within the castle walls after the expansion and hence within the area of cinderalla's castle..:shrug:

Makes no difference whatsoever. I assume that this is just a way for them to say that there is now something else for boys in Fantasyland due to the complaints about too much girly in the new expansion.

I would assume they are doing this due to the fact that Cinderella will have her own section of the expansion forest. To cut down on the confusion about why Cinderella's carousel is not near her house in the forest where you can meet her, it make sense that it should be renamed for the original occupant of the castle (the prince was living there before he married Cindy), regardless of what the castle is called.

Considering it's "King Arthur's" Carousel in Disneyland, I think this is pretty good!

I don't like it. I don't think boys are going to be attracted to a ride with the name "Prince Charming" in it, more likely repel them away.

My biggest questions is "Why?" doesn't really seem necessary to me, unless they make it some kind of competion with the abilit for kids to collect rings their lances while they ride on the carousel.

But shouldn't it be Prince Charming's Regal Carrousel? And I guess Cinderella Castle is now officially Cinderella's Castle. Whatever they call it, it'll still be purdy (but just to be safe, lets bring back the old canopy paint job).

If they wanted to make it more "masculine" why not call it King Arthur's Carrousel like in Disneyland and re-theme it to The Sword in the Stone? They have said weapon in rock out front already. But it's probably to reduce the number of Cinderella named things in the park, even if that isn't technically her house in the forest.

This is utterly stupid and could be one of Disney's lamest moves ever.

I have a 10 year old daughter and and 14 year old son...when I told them about this..in unison...the reaction was, "Who cares about Prince Charming?"

I fear that this idiotic idea is the result of Harry Potter over at the "U-Park" and the criticism that the new Fantasyland is too "girlie" and they needed to "boy-a-fy" it.

This is a bad idea. Any bets on how long it is before it's changed back?
