Cinderellabration??

I think you misunderstand the comments that the majority have posted about their criticisms about the show. In no way did we disparage the performers but rather the overall show. When comparing the two versions, it is very clear that the Orlando version is a shortened version of the original lacking all of the bells and whistles that make the original show stand out. It is certainly possible to have hard working stellar performers in an underwhelming show. And that's what we were pointing out.

Ditto. I would NEVER insult the cast of a show (unless they really stunk it up). I just feel that the entire show is lacking compared to the TDL version. This is no way should reflect on the performers of the show, it looks like they do a wonderful job... it's just what they're presented with to perform that I don't like. I think that if you're gonna go, go all out.

Also, someone tell me Disney's logic here: Why bring LMAX over straight from Paris (I mean, they have the French introductions for pete's sake), but totally skimp on Cinderellabration? It makes their whole "gifts from around the world" logic fly out the window. I'm sure I'm not the first to mention it, but does anyone also find it weird that WDW is getting all the "presents" while it's DL's 50th? Sounds like DL is getting (relatively) screwed over here.

Supposedly all the theme parks outside DL are getting gifts from around the world, DLP is getting Wishes and Buzz, DSP is getting....i don't know :D, TDS is getting Tower of Terror, TDl is getting/has gotten Buzz. It just seems that a lot is going to WDW because they have 4 parks to begin with and it just so happens that they were building EE.

I agree. It seems like very little is going on in Disneyland compared to WDW. However, it doesn't bother me, considering my next Disney vacation will be to Disney World and not Disneyland.:animwink:

There's a pretty easy explanation, I think. LMA had the privledge of getting a complete new set and stands built specially for it, allowing for the exact same caliber show to be performed. As for Cinderellabration (I'm taking this all from photos, as I've never seen the TDl show in real life), in Tokyo, the size of the stage is a lot bigger, allowing for more actors at one time to fill the stage. Second, the viewing area is a lot larger at Tokyo. This enabled the show to be seen by most at one show and thus the whole production could be done at night (which added to the elegance of it). The show was also a lot longer. American audiences would probably get pretty antsy standing around that long and in fact Tokyo had the privledge of hub size to accomodate rows of seats for guests. Thus, because of size (both of the stage and hub), the MK version had to be a)shorter b) played multiple times during the day and not just one or two shows at night and c) less cast members could be used.

I'm not judging MK's show yet since I haven't seen it. But, it seems like it probably would have been near impossible to present the EXACT same version here. Have they cut so much though that it, on its own, is a complete disappoitment? I don't know yet. I keep hearing that "its nice", "its well performed", it has "nice choreography", but ultimately "its not as good as Tokyo's". I'm just curious as to how well it will be received by the majority of MK guests who have no idea such an original even existed and can enjoy it for what it is and ultimately how does it compare to previous shows staged on the castle stage? I always try to remain an optimist, but its discouraging to hear the early reviews, which I kind of expected though given what I was hearing from others before the preview performance even started.

It still has a month and a half to "adjust". If it isn't well received, and people want to see Mickey and Minnie (which I'm surprised to hear were cut from our version), there is plenty of time for some minor changes like this to improve it. If people like it and its well received by most, than that's just great too.

Cinderella's Surprise Cellebration was a better show I'm afraid..... made more sense, more characters, more fun...Cinderellabration would have worked if they made it feel more "special"

OK guys, i have sat by long enough and read all your negative posts. If you don't like the show that's fine, its your opinion, but lets not forget all of those performers who have worked there butt off for that last 6 weeks trying to put and good show together. And now they are on that stage trying to perform and make you all happy. Lets not forget that when yuo are ripping apart this fun show.

REMEMBER the #1 Rule of Thumb for any Internet Disney Dweeb.

Anything at TDL is automtically better even if I haven't seen it. Even if TDL puts a giant popiscle stick as the centerpiece of the park, it's will be the best icon at any theme park in the world.

Only when the Disney Corporation has a chance to buy out Oriental Land Company will that popsicle stick receive any negative feedback.

Brainwashing session over.

I am bowing down Japanese style to you. You'd all crack up if you knew how many CMs here wish they could be employed by WDC instead.

I love TDR lots but it's not always the rosiness that is often portrayed on fan sites. If TDR was in the states, people would have a more balanced view I think. As it is they see DisneySea (which is indeed a marvel) and the lavish shows, which deserves its praise. But there is a lot more in the picture as to what enables these things to come to be. Part of it is that Japanese guests are INTENSELY more hardcore fans of Disney than we Westerners could ever (and frankly, should ever) be. A very different beast altogether over here.

People will always think the grass is greener on the other side, especially when they don't have to see that grass day in and day out.

That's not to say that I don't think we could use a heavy dose of TDL/OLC polish to the American parks, but the view of how wonderful TDL is and how 2nd rate America's parks are need a more "balanced view".

I agree on the cultural aspects. Most of the overly ornate details that TDL employs would really be wasted on most of the American guests (even though a nut like me still wants them). That's not to say anyone is stupid or a simpleton, just a culutural thing.

:D :D :D :D

This is not about the cast at all. I loved every single member that I saw last Friday and have no complaints about their abilities. In fact, some still continued on from the previous show and I loved their work in that piece.

It is the script that is terrible. If you haven't seen the movie Cinderella, there's not much of a problem. They could have easily switched the role to a different princess and the story would still work. There is nothing that is "amusing" or "adventure-ish" about the show. The best way I could put it is a wedding, although the guests aren't nearly as excited as the botoxed cast...

Cinderella's Surprise Celebration was a very good castle show because it attracted different audiences and had a mixture of Disney favorites. The fab five, Cinderella, her prince, the princesses/princes, Chip N' Dale, selective villians, and selective heroes. It had a beginning, a middle, and an end. There was a conflict.

There are NO costumed characters at all in Cinderellabration.

There was no applause and no laughing from where I was sitting on Friday. Perhaps some Ooohs and Aaahs, but that is really all the show gives. Something pretty to look at. Eye candy. Fluff. That's and that's all the show will ever be.

I have not seen the Toyko version, I'm just critiquing the show as-is.

Odd. Looks like the list has costumed characters. Guess it just must be people with those names.

I think he meant that there aren't any full mask characters (i.e. the Fab Five, Captain Hook, etc.), which there aren't any in the show. Also, the show is part of the 50th anniversary and will be playing for the entirety of the 18 month celebration.

I feel that the purpose of Cinderella Surprise Cellebration is much different than Cinderellabration. I enjoy both, each for different reasons.

Your welcome! I have more photos from the show, I just have to get through them all. I will post some more tomorrow. I am beat after elbowing my way down Main Street the last few days!

I love your photos from the night shows. I didn't have a chance to see it at night yet. I will make sure I do when I am there in April.
