Wasnt the rose gold just for the 50th and now they are returning to the classic colors?
one can hope it happens quickly..... They kept it far too long.
"Rose Gold" was a trendy color that was already "ten minutes ago" when they announced it.
Pink is the color associated with Sleeping Beauty Castle both Anaheim and Disneyland Paris... They should never have painted it pink.... Now the White/pale gray castle with a crushed-glass glitter finish so it would always sparkle would have been a better choice... Just to celebrate WDW with WDW's Iconic original coloration.....

If you wanna see how much nostalgia and familiarity affect our decision making:

If you made a Venn diagram of people who like the current paint job ,and people who are proponents of Carsland/ROA & TSI destruction, there would most likely be a pretty big overlap. "I'm really OK with removing a 54 year old piece of WDW history, but don't you dare change a 5 year old paint job back to the way it was for 49 years!"

Announced during Destination D23, Cinderella Castle will soon return to its classic colors - the updated paint will feature grays, creams, blues, and touches of gold aiming to enhance the castle’s architecture:

I don't care either way on this.

Things important to me like Castle dream lights will never return so....

I think y’all underestimate it. It’s been a core part of the castle park’s identity for 70 years. Splash Mountain has been a core part of that identity for 30 years. People don’t like seeing beloved elements of their childhood change so drastically and rapidly. It would be one thing to shorten the river and add things behind it. It’s another thing entirely to completely change 1/3rd of the most popular park in the world.
Trust me if Disneyland had tried this, Their diehard fans would not be anywhere near as forgiving as the WDW fans are. Even slightly altering the river to accommodate Galaxy's Edge was considered controversial.

It was part of the 50th makeover, but quickly became the permament colors of the castle. Marketing materials after the 50th retained the rose gold colors but shed it's 50th decal and spire decals.

The castle colors lasted longer than Kite Tails, Disney Enchantment and Harmonious. Enchantment and Harmonious were also permament shows until they weren't.

I was a CM at Magic Kingdom when they announced the change back in February-ish of 2020, right before the shutdown (when I was laid off), and they officially said it was a change to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Cinderella. They had started painting the turrets the different shade of blue a few days before the closure and the whole thing was finished in the early summer of ‘20 and then the 50th ornamentation was added the next year. I think this color scheme was intended to be a permanent change, but now that it’s time for a repaint they listened to the backlash and decided to change it back.

Oh trust me, Disney is far more afraid of the local audience in Southern California than they are of the Florida locals. If that were not the case Disney's California Adventure would still look like it did when it opened.
DL outrage didn't
  • stop putting SWL in DL
  • stop them from altering RoA
  • stop them from retheming Tower of Terror
  • stop them from removing rides and attractions for an Avengers land
  • get the People Mover fixed

I think the online DL fandom thinks they have more power than they think they do.
