MK Cinderella Castle Set to Return to Classic Color Scheme

I’m glad the pink is going away— it photographed well at sunset but any other time of day it always looked a little gray to me, like chewed bubble gum :/

That being said, I hope they can find a middle ground besides just reverting to the exact same color scheme from before, which looked drab and washed out after awhile in the sun. Maybe if they kept some of the gold elements? I know the announcement mentions it, but the concept art has me skeptical that they’re keeping much. At the very least, a more frequent schedule to refresh paint would help.

It’s funny, I actually think the concept art for the pink castle looked like a good balance with the deep/navy blue turrets and more of a cream/pale pink castle. But instead we got… what we got 😅

Did they give a reason/excuse as to why now? Seems embarrassing on their part and unlike Disney to admit to the original being a mistake....
Why now? It has to be painted regularly due to Floriditis.

Why the original switch? They never said that I know of. Most likely because they wanted to do something special for the 50th and "rose gold*" was 'in' at the time.

*Rose gold is a metallic color. As a matte color, it's pink. The castle wasn't pink. It was a pale salmon. And as mentioned above, it was a fad that was already getting tired when they painted the castle. You don't use a "color of the year" for a multi-year paint job. Multiple multiple demerits on this on.

But what do I know? I'm just a shill that defends everything Disney does.

FINALLY.
I have been waiting for this to be officially announced.

Thank you, to those within the Company who realized that the ‘salmon sandcastle’ needed to go away.

It will be wonderful to have something close to the original color scheme return that used to grace Cinderella Castle.

Today is a day for rejoicing!

Agree, also more than likely they have been hit pretty hard with backlash over ripping out Frontierland proper. I feel like they are doing everything they can now to try and make up for that blow. This really should have been done for the 50th anyway instead of the direction they took.

The colour wasn't great, so I don't mind them changing it back... I can only imagine the feedback would have been 10 times worse if they had repainted DL's castle though. I think MK now is the only major castle to get a repaint with significant changes...
To be fair DL has had it's castles colors changed several times in the last 70 years. It is a lot more pink today than it was in 1955 or even 1965 to put it lightly.

Okay…. Will cherry pickers be in place and painting take place when guests are present?
The moat will be drained, with some cherry pickers stationed there and others also likely parked behind construction walls set up temporarily behind the castle. Typically, painting occurs after hours, though you’ll see partial progress during the day, e.g. paint-by-numbers color indicators on the curtain walls.

Yes.

Most of the salmon painting was done during the pandemic closure to guests. But some painting continued with guests present at the re-opening.

At some point during the day, the pickers will retract for the evening show on the castle.
So then the cherry pickers will be present and can intrude on guests photographing the castle. Same issue as I was posting.
