Cinderella Castle projections

I agree with many posters here... I think the technology is amazing and the potential is fantastic. I love the "drawn" / Tinkerbell image in the beginning. I could remotely even stomach the strange people / Powerpoint presentation on the castle (VERY remotely!!), but I have a problem with that big projection screen smack dab in the front of the Castle!! ? Like someone made a comment about "Dad's slide show", this screams of that!!

And, although Disney says it's a "nighttime" thing, my bet would be that, yes, they'll "kick it off" as part of the fireworks or something, but then keep it going until park close.

Just my thoughts.

Not only that, how many vacation pictures is this going to ruin?

Disney had to react to hordes of hysterical brides (who planned their weddings at the wedding pavilion @ the GF months/years in advance) who showed up in florida and saw that the castle which was to be the backdrop for their wedding and wedding pictures....turned into a big freaking pink cake. (Disney's pathetic answer to this was to put up a large banner of a castle picture to pose in front of for wedding pictures)

Sorry....when I get down there and take pictures of my family in front of the castle, I don't want someone elses face plastered on it. No way. Not cool.

Who was the idiot who came up with this mess? I sincerely hope this isn't an indication of what's to come....

CastleCake bashing 'round here again? Geez...I thought it was neat.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! I wasn't sure what everyone was talking about when they referred to the "Castle Cake" seeing as i was very young when it was around but i decided to google it and i must say that is the most rediculous thing ever, i didn't think it was real at first. At least we know what the absolute low is, but as far as the "Memories Begin" I do think that they made some changes to the format and that they HOPEFULLY removed the screen that we all saw in the test video. Im open to ideas seeing as Disney always takes out the worst during any process (ex. the seperate buildings for princess meet and greets in fantasyland 2.0) so ill just have to wait for a legit video to appear before i make my opinion. probably sounds like an obvious statement but i think it should apply to all. Tinkerbell looked good. The drawing castle was iffy. I got a good laugh at the call of duty turrets up on the building haha :p camoflauge those please :p

For pure terribleness, I think the wand was much worse than the Castle Cake. At least the Castle Cake came and went ... the wand was like the never ending nightmare.

Which is why I didn't mind the Castle Cake. I knew it was temporary and, after all, it was a very special birthday event - and who doesn't want cake for their birthday. The wand didn't bother me actually either - SSE looks a bit plain now. The DHS hat I could do without (but I've gotten use to it). Besides, its pretty much become a stage backdrop these days. Just don't nobody mess with the Tree of Life!! It's perfect as is! (and thank goodness they don't decorate it for the holidays)

Shame on all the cake-haters 'round here! I want a Golden Castle Cake for the 50th birthday!!!
:animwink:

I'll just have to hold judgment on this castle projection thing until I see it in person. If it's just for a 10-minute show, no biggy if it turns out to not be that great of a thing.

Oh goodness, yes. It actually makes me feel sad to be on a high leaving Illuminations, to turn and see that blaring SIEMENS projection....

Ick to blatent commercialism at the World.
I go there to escape the real world yet commercialism is a bit glaring in some areas of the World.

Ok I just saw the show, and I have to admit, I cringed when it started, but its actually not bad, the pictures are done tastefully, and not like a slide show, Lots of Falling Balls/Streamers/confetti projected on the castle, and some very cool, video fireworks/to/Real fireworks effects.

Not Bad, I was worried, Should have video Soon

Well, your opinion just lost credibility.

Some "power point presentation" I see......... :ROFLOL:

I don't believe the words "coolest projector ever" does this justice. I'm definitely going to have to see this in person this week. Perfectly done Disney... perfectly done.

Walt at the end was the icing on the castle. For anyone who had doubts during that video, Walt's appearance should have ended that.

EPIC!!!

I got some serious goosbumps watching the video. Can't wait to see it live and in person in September.

Incorporating Walt at the end was awesome.

:sohappy:

Think for yourselfer
Well, I was dead wrong. That was awesome.

My wife had begun to put me in my place about this whole thing last night before I got to see the show this morning. I was explaining it to her, and asked her what she thought about the idea of having people's pictures pop up on the castle during the show. Her initial response was excitement, and how cool it would be. And how she would be recording the entire show just hoping to see our families picture flash across the castle. I got to thinking, maybe it will be nice, to see the excitement on my wife's face, or my kid's, or the kids standing all around if their faces come up. So I began to turn towards liking the idea.

Then I saw the execution this morning. I am blown away. Unbelievable job. I can not wait to see this in person.

I, too, am eating my words. I despised the idea of photos on the castle when I first heard it, and was one of those people calling it a slide show/screensaver, etc.

I watched the video this morning, and wow, was I wrong. I can't wait to see it in person. And Walt at the end....it brought tears to my eyes.
