I am doing a research project on these adorable little fish and they are not doing what I want and it frustrating me. The store where I got them did not even have the correct number of fish for me and I think that they have given me all males.

I have not found out yet if they are male or female I think that I am going to wait until after the weekend and go back when they are settled in to their new digs.

Anywho I was just wondering if any of you guys also raise cichlids and what type of experiences you have had. This is the first time that I am trying to breed them but I have been keeping cichlids for over three years now.

I don't care for fish too much...too much work! I (well actually my son...but I do all the work) have 2 Bettas...they're virtually indestructible! Along with a bunch of reptiles and amphibians...and lots of cats!

  That's a good one Tramp. I have no idea either what those fish are. I have two cats, fish wouldn't last long with them.

Try breeding ducks. They're really easy to breed, but you have to watch the ducklings, they will just fall over and die at the drop of a hat.

Could you give me another name of those flittle fish you are making the project on? Are those the ones that are "dry" and get alive when in contact with the water? If not, what was the name of those? :veryconfu

Just an update for everybody, like anybody cares about these silly fish. They finally hatched I have about 150 babies now that I am going to do my research on. With a little luck it will go well and I will get a good grade on it.

we used to have cichlids...very hard to raise! We left for disney one year, and when we came back, they had all killed each other! Then we got more, the temp in the tank got a couple degrees too high and they died! Then I reverted back to goldfish (which died...then I got a dog and he's 10 now!)
