Gothic Rock
Goth rock is an offshoot of post-punk that existed primarily during the early to mid-'80s. It takes the synthesizers and processed guitars of post-punk and uses them to construct foreboding, sorrowful, and gloom-ridden opuses. Its lyrics are usually introspective and personal, but also includes a taste for literary romanticism, morbidity, religious symbolism, and/or supernatural mysticism.

History and Description
Invented in America, Industrial Rock combines electronic instruments with abrasive guitars. The first band to really attempt this was Ministry with their "The Land of Rape and Honey" album. This prompted a large American surge of Industrial Rock bands that now includes My Life with Thrill Kill Kult, Acumen, Diatribe, Christ Analogue, etc. Coldwave is now a recognized term for the Industrial/Rock crossover, with the Reconstriction label leading the way.
