How do you guys make your hotel room more festive at Christmas? I saw on the WDW holiday special that you can have a Christmas tree put in your room. Does anyone know how much this is? I saw the Disney florist will do one for only $360  for a 4 ft tree. Any other ideas:lookaroun ? I love decorating for Christmas and thought we could do it there, too. It is also my birthday trip and 25th visit, but I have never been in December before.

The WDW Florist charges an arm and a leg, but the tree and decorations are shipped to your home afterwards.

I have a friend who spent every Christmas at WDW when she was growing up and they always brought their own little tree and decorations.

Wow, so that price is right that I read? I figured maybe $100, but not almost 4 times that.

There's so much with Holidays Around the World and the fabulous decorations in the parks - I wouldn't have a tree in my room. I think it depends on how "Christmas" the person is. We love the Holiday time, but I don't do a tree in my house, either.

I bet the WDW florist does an over-the-top wonderful job, though, and if I were already going all-out for the vacation and it meant a lot to me, I would do it. But it just isn't for me.

You could always ship a small one down ahead of you - just address the package to the hotel with your name on it and call ahead to let the hotel know that it's coming.

Otherwise, if you're renting a car or have access to transportation, you could always stop at Target or Wal*Mart and buy one there.

We go at Christmas all the time (will be there this year). I bought a little tree at Michaels, and they have little mini lights and mini decorations. They easily fit in a suitcase.

How much time do you plan to spend in your room? Since it will be more than a week till Christmas, you may just want to skip it and take advantage of the beautiful park decorations. Alternately, ship your tree beforehand so that it will arrive when you do, or pack the tree and take it with you. If you will have access to transportation off the property while you're there, there's a Wal-Mart close by where you could purchase a small tree & decorations once you've arrived. Just a few thoughts.

We shipped our own little tree down complete with lights and Disney decorations. It was waiting for us when we checked in. I set it up that night, along with hanging our Christmas stockings and putting lights up in the window. We left the lights on all day long. It was so nice to come back to our room and have more Christmas surrounding us. While the Disney florist tree is nice looking, I can't see spending that much money on the tree honestly. But to each his own.

Does anyone have any pictures of what this tree would look like? My girlfriend is curious...

Thanks.

Add the delivery, handling fee, service fee and tax and it's $410 for that tree. Heck our Christmas tree had more Disney decorations than that tree and it was not even $40 for everything. Even for my wedding at Disney, to get the bout and a corsage for my parents, I went to an outside florist which cost me only about $25 where Disney it would have been around $60 or more, with all those extra fees added to the price.

Every other inch of WDW is already decorated for Christmas so I would see no need for a tree in a hotel room. Seems like a waste of time and a lot of effort to make it happen. I would be out enjoying everything in the parks...we are never in our room other than to sleep anyway. :xmas:

If I was there with my kids on Christmas Day, yeah, I'd make sure I had a tree in my room. Where else is Santa going to put their presents??? I don't know that I'd spend the money for that Disney tree. I'd ship a small one and our family's favorite ornaments down to my hotel.

Another idea if space is an issue would be to set up your tree at home, take a good full length picture, then go down and have a print made of it in life size. Then stick it to the wall somewhere in your room and gather your presents around it at the bottom. :)

You can get a 2 ft. tall live tree from Harry and David (and others) for about $50--you could just change out the ornaments for Disney ones and it would STILL be cheaper than those!

We are never there for Christmas Day, we are ussually there Thanksgiving week and the week after. For that I set up Christmas lights and decorations on our balcony. We have had many comments in the evenings when we are sitting out there relaxing. Many people like the holiday spirit and thanked us for lighting the way.

I think the neat thing to do would be to go to like a card store and buy one of those like 2 ft fiber optic ones and then you don't have to worry about lights and you can buy decorations throughout the parks. I mean they might even have them at like Walmart or target, w/e your prefrence might me, and the most you spend on the tree is like 20 or 30 bucks I mean we bought one for my grandparents last year b/c they're in their 60's and wanted a tree but they didn't want want to have to deal with the hassle so we got them that and they put it on a coffee table and when we went over there for x-mas eve the presents were all around the coffee table but this is just an idea...

Ok call me a sucker....last year I got the Disney Christmas tree delivered to our room. But keep in mind we were there for a week and we were also getting married! So it was an extra special trip to Disney World.

My wife was shocked when they delivered the tree the first day. It was much different then the one pictured on the disneyflorist site this year. It was much more "fun". It was decorated with small disney characters (The fab 5) and real candy, like the huge disney lollypops and about a 3ft Mickey attached to the back, he was posed as if he was peaking out from around the tree.
The fake evergreen tree was frosted as if with snow and had white lights and set in a white wooden box. It had more of a "sugar plum fun Disney" feel to it
When they delivered they set it up and it was beautiful. We then had them pick it up from the room when we left for our cruise and it arrived back home about 4 weeks later. Cant wait to pull it out this year and relive the memories.
I understand that its really expensive and if not for the special occasion I probably would not have done it but I think it was much more fun than the new "Dream (blue):hurl: Tree"

We also brought lights and hung them from our balconeys and around our head boards. They only funny thing was we were staying in the VP Suite at the Contemporary (So AWESOME) and it also had its own 6ft tree already decorated, but more in the rooms colors and decor, but it was like having another full size tree in our suite.

There is a drug store (Walgreens I think) not far from the Crossroads shopping center where we had to go pick up more lights because our balcony was so huge. They also had all types of other decorations, if you dont want to pack them on the way down.

Read my wedding link in my signature for some more details.

Im getting into the Christmas spirit just thinking about it!:xmas:
