Things are looking up for a trip down to Disney World this December! (yay)

That being said. I'd like to hear what you fellow fans like to do if you've ever been down that time of year. We usually go around Easter, and don't know what are 'must-do's' at this time. We're arriving just before christmas and leaving before new year.

On my list so far:

-Candlelight Processional (Is a schedule out yet?)
-Keys to the Kingdom Tour (First time we've been there since I turned sixteen)
-Osbourne Lights

Not sure about MVMCP, I'm worried we're too old to enjoy it enough to buy tickets.

MVMCP is the best. You get free cocoa and cookies. :slurp: Plus, there is a special fireworks display, Holidaywishes, and the largest parade put on by Disney all year. Find a spot on Mainstreet because it snows!

EPCOT is fantastic too with Holidays Around the World, the tree lighting ceremony, the Candlelight Processional (the list of speakers is below), the Lights of Winter arches (they dance to Christmas music), the Santa's of the world, and of course, the cannot be missed Peace on Earth Holiday Finale at the end of Illuminations.

Candlelight Processional List of Narrators:
-- Cuba Gooding Jr. (Oscar winner for "Jerry Maguire")
-- Maureen McGovern (Oscar winning singer and recording artist)
-- Kirk Cameron (from television sitcom "Growing Pains")
-- Gary Sinese (from television's "CSI: NY" and also your CapCom in the Mission: SPACE preshow)
-- Rita Moreno (Oscar winner for "West Side Story" and from television's "Oz" )
-- Marlee Matlin (Oscar winner for "Children of a Lesser God" and from television's "The West Wing")
-- Stephen Curtis Chapman (Christian music's most decorated artist)

MGM has the Osborne Lights. Definetly neat to see. And it snows there too. :)

Animal Kingdom doesn't have much that I know of, but they do have the Jingle Jangle Jungle Parade. All of the characters sing Christmas songs.

All of the parks are decked out in Christmas decorations and all of the characters are dressed in their holiday costumes. It really is such a great time to be visiting and Florida or not, it really puts you in the holiday spirit. :)

Christmas is my favorite time to go. I will be returning this year for my third time.

Too Old for MVMCP???? Inconceivable. I would choose this over CP, of course I have a young child who probably will not sit through it. One of the things I enjoy the two times I have been to MVMCP hardly no lines for anything. Both times I have been on a weeknight and while the first parade is taking place on main street the rest of the park is like a ghost town.

I have seen the CP from the back, and it looks enjoyable. Lou Diamond Phillips telling the Christmas story was great. (I was wishing for a little rendition of La Bamba  ) I just didn't think it was worth the extra money.

Oh don't worry. Candlelight Processional is free with park admission. You just have to get there VERY early to get a seat. :)

Its great to see, but probably only once a year. It will be the same each time, unless you just want to see a different narrator.

If you think you're too old for Mickey's Christmas party.. you really get yourself a cup of coffee and wake up :p My grandfather used to have to go to Disneyland twice a year. He needed his Mickey fix. He would walk down mainstreet and you could see this man turn into a 5 year old boy. People ask me all the time why I go to WDW so often.. and they will never know that feeling... I'm still trying to get to that point...

With that being said... Christmas at WDW is something very special. We've kinda changed our WDW plans after going for the first time last year. We're going to start shifting our week long trip to the holidays. Magic Kingdom is a wonderful place to be during the christmas party. People walking around with all of the decoration, the snow, the sights and sounds... it's just amaizing.

And EPCOT is that and so much more. The holidays around the world is to me is the coolest experience. Sitting on the ground lessening to the how the world celebrates Christmas (Norway was my favorite). And even if you don't make it for one of the 3 shows for the CLP, you can hear it all over WSC. The tree lighting ceremony, the lighted archways...

You'll go one and say what we said last year... "we're coming back next year for christmas."

MVMCP is great! Even if you've seen it on t.v., being there makes it much more magical. Also be sure to check out the characters in Tommorrow Land perform on stage. And of course, you can't beat the Osbourne Lights.

WDW is even more magical at Christmas and puts us in the "Christmas spirit". Some of our favorites are the Christmas show at the castle and the Osbourne Specatacle of Lights is incredible. We also really enjoy the different Santas at the countries in the World Showcase at EPCOT.

MVMCP is the big winner, though. Nobody is too old to enjoy it! :xmas:

I have been going to the World since forever....but I have to say I was just blown away the first time I got to visit during the holiday season. Many of the attractions have been mentioned, but also to visit the various hotels to see their displays from giant gingerbread house (in GF), giant chocolate carrousel in Beach Club to the beautiful themed trees in all locations.

It is far and away the most fantastic time to visit. My preference is early December to avoid the big crowds. and MVMCP is the best, and I'm ....a....over thirty

I was curious what too old was and I checked your profile, and you're 16? :p

I'll be 25 when we're there in December...my fiance is a 27 year old, huge stick in the mud old man (hehe:lol:) and we're going to MVMCP......................................on our honeymoon!

We usually go in December, but we're going to go in November this year. I'm afraid it won't be the same.

You should love it. Have a great time!

What time in November? The official kick off is the day after Thanksgiving, but much of the decorations and the Osborne lights would be up the first part of November.

Wow... thanks for your overwhelming support for MVMCP. I guess that changes my mind. However if the last event is on the 22nd, it's not likely we'll be able to go. A question about it: do you need separate park admission for the day, or is it just the ticket for the event.

It is a "hard ticket event". Meaning that you need a separate ticket to enter MK for the evening. If you plan on attending MK during the day, you will need to use a regular ticket. As far as I know, the only "wiggle room" you have is that you may be let in a few hours before the "official" start of CP.

We're going early (Around Nov. 4th or 5th I think), so they probably won't have anything yet (and it would be too early anyway).

MVMCP is a seperate hard ticket event. Magic Kingdom will open at the usual time at the beginning of the day, but will close at 6 to prepare for the event and let the park clear. If you have a ticket for MVMCP, you can come to the park when it opens and stay while they change over. They simply put all of the guests who are participating to Adventureland and close off the rest of the park while they setup.

Yeah that is probably too early for anything significant. Major structures like the arches in EPCOT and the Christmas Trees might be in the process of being setup, and the Osborne lights would be nearly complete. I'm not sure if they turn them on or not until the first day (sometime in mid November).
