As a former CM, I am obsessed with all things Disney and was very excited to watch the Christmas Day Parade. The parade in itself was wonderful as always but I had a hard time getting in the Disney mood with Kelly Rippa being one of the hosts. I just really do not enjoy her and think she totally ruined the parade.

I would like to see two new hosts ,Kelly and Regis both seemed like they were just there becuose they had to.They did'nt seem to be enjoying it at all .What does everyone else think ?

It was commercialism and cross-promotion at its finest.
It was a commercial within a commercial within a commercial. I thought NASCAR had the market on name dropping and sponser listing, but Disney, Reg, Kelly and Ryan took it to new heights.
The parade portion was good, but there just wasn't enough it.

My favorite part was when Bianca Ryan (I think that's her name - she's from the "America's Got Talent" show last summer) sang the medly of Princess songs - the little girl has a BIG talent!
Funny, I was thinking the same thing about Regis.

I wish they would have shown more of the parade. I really enjoyed the Princess song as well. That girl has an awesome voice!
If Disney had been smart, they would have paid Depp boatloads of money to host the parade as Capt Jack Sparrow. :lol:
That would have been funny.

I will say that she sounded much better on that than any other of her performances that I have seen. Normally she just basically screams through a song, but she did sing well this time.

Simple question, when did they, and when do they normally film this parade? I knew it was about 3-4 weeks ago, since they cut over to Extreme Home makeover in NC which was being taped about 3-4 weeks ago. We have no wish to be there on Christmas, but would injoy being there when they film the parade!

It was filmed Dec 1-2. We got to the MK on the 2nd right after they finished for the day. It was a madhouse!

Former cast member here as well - and yep...Disney fanatic.
I've come to realize too, that it's really a two hour commercial for WDW. I mean..don't get me wrong - I LOVE it, but it does have it's draw backs.
Let's throw in American Idol "rejects" (for lack of a better word), push push push High School Musical, throw in some top talent here and there, cram more Ryan Suck, I mean Seacrest in - oh yeah..and lets show some of the resort as well.
I kinda liked it when it was Regis and Joan London...you could tell, she loved to be down there with her girls and do the parade. It just showed. But with Regis and Kelly - now it's like, Ok...free vacation and mommy has to work for just a little while.
I can also remember years ago, when about 30 min of the show was pushed for Disneyland too. The best of both coasts! :sohappy:

I thought the same thing, we were there for the taping and it was exciting. But as I watched it Christmas morning, it did nothing for me. Your right, the hosts didn't pump you up very much.

I dunno about that...I was there one year for the MGM portion of tapping the parade. They came around and gave everyone free mickey ears, or mickey santa ears, or something to wear...
The parade came down the Blvd...and stopped, and all the characters interacted with everyone - they got the crowd pumped up, heck I even wooped/hollered and waved at all of them. We had a GREAT time!

I enjoyed the Disney Parks commercial where the Hitchhiking Ghosts check in for the day more the broadcast. Some of the performances were good, but overall it was just so-so. My daughter loved Hannah Montana and Aly and Aj. I thought Andrea Bochelli was good, but he needed a little cleaning up. Beyonce's rendition of Silent Night was bad. The princess montage was nice. I liked the Disneyland parts as I love their daytime parade. It didn't seem like there was really a parade at WDW as there was one part of a parade then a musical number then a cut in of some sort. I want to see more parade. Regis and Kelly need to go. Ryan was ok, but he is overexposed. I liked Samantha Brown. The promotion of Year of a Million Dreams was a little much. I probrably say that as I think the promotion is pretty lousy in and of itself. Oh well, it was Disney synergy (commercialism) at its finest.
