Hi people!! Longtime reader, first time poster...:xmas: Does anyone here know for sure if they will be having the Country Bears Christmas Show? It was always my daughters favorite, but it has been sorely missed by my family since it disappeared a few years ago...

The Christmas CBJ haven't played in about 2-3 years, and the last time DH and I saw the CBJ was December last year, and they haven't maintained the attraction at all. Walt would have be angry. It's bad when the engines running in the AE are louder then the music. They've already 86'd DLR and it's only a matter of time before they close the one at MK.

I would typically agree that it's unlikely, however CBJ is down for a refurb from the end of this month to the end of Oct. This is the perfect timing to coincide with a possible changeout. Who knows though, hopefully they'll decide they may as well do the changeover while it's already down.

It will not be changed over. It is a standard refurbishment. The audio system is being replaced and the figures are getting some well-needed TLC.

A nostalgia attraction, or a place to go to escape the heat or a downpour, not worth the wasted resources to do a seasonal makeover. Even more pointless than the Haunted Mansion and the Nightmare scenario.

Personaly i would love to see the christmas show. I love this attraction! I don't think it's fair to call it pointless just because you don't like it. When you think of all the weird little attractions that we go to Disney world to see over and over again it is pointless to try to judge something that other people llke. Obviously you are posting on this sight because you like some things there. Things that other people may not like at all. After all, most of the attractions at MK are at least 20 years old. And most of them would cause an uproar if you removed them.

No i'm posting on this site, I have offered my opinion, I have highlighted that I believe it would waste resources to carry out a seasonal make over, resources that could be better spent on maintenance or opening "seasonal" (closed) attractions.

I care not whether you feel it is fair or , it is my opinion and based on the financial reality Disney faces not some fan boy indulgence.

But it is jut my opinion after all.

A nostalgia attraction? Wouldn't that include most attractions in the Magic Kingdom?

Haunted Mansion - nostalgic
Pirates - nostalgic
Jungle Cruise - nostalgic
Carousel of Progress - nostalgic
Space Mountain - nostalgic
Swiss Family Treehouse - nostalgic
Snow White - nostalgic
Peter Pan - nostalgic
IASW - nostalgic
Dumbo - nostalgic
Mad Tea Party - nostalgic

Even some of the newer attractions are becoming nostalgic to the younger guests.

Nostalgia sells.

A nostalgia attraction? Wouldn't that include most attractions in the Magic Kingdom?

Haunted Mansion - nostalgic
Pirates - nostalgic a bit short
Jungle Cruise - nostalgic just mince, a waste of space
Carousel of Progress - nostalgic So nostalgic its half empty when it runs
Space Mountain - nostalgic no just old and in need of a revamp
Swiss Family Treehouse - nostalgic a walk through
Snow White - nostalgic
Peter Pan - nostalgic
IASW - nostalgic
Dumbo - nostalgic a carnival ride
Mad Tea Party - nostalgic see above

Even some of the newer attractions are becoming nostalgic to the younger guests.

Nostalgia
sells.

A bittersweet longing for things, persons, or situations of the past

yes I agree those rides do belong to a different time

It's not happening. I was just in there a few days ago and all that's been taken out were old speakers and they're doing work on the figures. Fur is gettin a good cleanin and cleanin out the insides. No sign of Christmas stuff, nor is the team preparing the stuff.

That's a shame. I was wondering about the return of the Christmas show when it was announced that there would be some downtime scheduled. :(

I'm glad that the Bears are getting some TLC, but I wanted to see the Christmas show make a return.

What a shame. My family would probably all hit the park just to see the CBJ Christmas Show. I bet other Floridians would, too.
After all these years of going to the parks we tend to just spend enough time in the MK for 2 or 3 attractions and Wishes. We haven't even been to MVMCP since the 80s when it was a 1 or 2 night event with no huge crowds . Some nostalgia at Christmas would be great in these lean times.

No Country Bear Christmas switchover is planned. We will more than likely not see one aging as the current MK management is not a fan of seasonal overlays.

 This news makes me sad. The CBJ christmas show was always packed when we saw it. We took the kids to see it 2 years ago, (the 1st year that they didn't do it) it was a BIG disappointment. The management needs to take in consideration what the paying customer would like to see. I realize that they think that the people will come anyway, but if they keep making cut backs... less people will see a value, and will stop coming.... Keeping fingers crossed that they WILL put on the Christmas show while they have it down, oh please, oh please, oh please!:sohappy:
