Christmas - Castle & Bears

Two questions:

Any word on whether the new castle Christmas lights will be turned on every night, or just during MVMCP?

Also, since it does not appear on any rehab schedules, I'm guessing the Country Bear Christmas show will not be returning this year, either? (I remember there was speculation that the show was cut last year for cost-savings, and that Disney wanted to see if the public would miss it. Seeing how there have been few or no internet postings among Disney's biggest fans, I guess the company was right-- it must not really be missed all that much!)

As I've stated in previous threads...

The real reason why the highly-popular CBJ holiday overlay didn't happen last year was because they needed to re-clear certain copyrights for some of the songs used in the show, particularly for "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", and they couldn't obtain them on time.

So, the CBJ Xmas show IS returning this year.

As a matter of fact, the Rudolph song was cut out of "Celebrate the Season" and "Mickey's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas" this past year, due to the same copyright issues that caused the Bears' Xmas show to get cancelled for that year.

So, I wouldn't worry, Dr. Falls.

Well, if the fans are missing the CB Christmas show, let me say, I MISS IT!! I was in Orlando for the first time near Christmas last year and of course it didn't play. I had waited YEARS for it.

Luckily, I will be a FL resident for this year's holiday season and will definitely check it out!

Disneynut---

I have never never never heard that explanation! It certainly seems logical (but so does the budget cut/"they won't miss it" theory, since people aren't gonna stop coming to MK because its gone).

I'll take your word that its returning. But if so, why hasn't the refurb date been posted yet? Doesn't it take 2-7 days to convert? And when does that usually happen? Right before Thanksgiving, correct?

No official word on the Castle lights yet. But I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I'd be willing to bet it happens nightly. And if not nightly...definitely nightly once all of the holiday offerings go "daily operations" which usually occurs sometime around Dec. 20th.

Ditto!

The CBJ Christmas show is the only holiday attraction the MK gets throughout the year; and it's hilarious. I've observed that the Christmas show is usually more crowded than the regular one (but I don't have numbers to support that claim).

Country Bears Christmas

He might be too early to post the dates for the change to the Christmas show. Remember, they are refurbishing Haunted Mansion AND Spaceship Earth at the same time.

Those are two biggies!!!!!

Is it definitely coming back? Last year as I attended MVMCP I thought I heard of it being scrapped for good.

I was advised by City Hall on Main Street that the Country Bear Xmas show will be coming back.

That's my source. We can only hope that they're telling the truth.

I love the Country Bears and when we went back "home" early last December I was really looking forward to the Christmas show but my heart was broken when I found out it wouldn't be presented. I really, really hope Disney hasn't scrapped it. My wife and I are trying to work out a quick weekend trip the weekend after Thanksgiving so we can see the new castle lighting ceremony and hopefully do MVMCP. A revival of the Country Bears Christmas show would be icing on the cake. Last year spoiled me...it just ain't Christmas without Disney.

This is great news about the Christmas overlay returning to the Country Bear Jamboree. I don't see why Disney would have to gain the rights to the Rudolph song though. It is an old timeless song that is played almost everywhere during the holiday seasons.

I thought the same thing at first, but the truth is that the "Rudolph" song is still copyrighted and has not passed into public domain yet.

Last night, I was talking to a cast member on Main Street, and he said the lights on the Castle will be Neon, whatever that means...I also heard from him that we will be getting a new Xmas Parade for MVMCP. When I think of more of What he told me I will Post it here.

I don't think neon is correct... I believe it's supposed to be more LED. Similar to the treatment the Paris castle gets during the holidays. It's actually pretty amazing. A quick youtube search should produce a few video clips.

Edit: Here's a link to youtube video of the Paris castle. Amazing.

If that's what I get to see on Cindy's castle this December, I'm going to be one happy camper. :sohappy:

This made my day. :D

I fought SO hard for this last year (do a thread search for proof) and I'm about to turn a cartwheel right now.

A Cindy Castle lit up like DLRP would be awesome. Especially if they installed the same sort of lamp posts down Main Street that are in DLRP.
