We are going to Disneyland December 3-13 this year and am wondering how disneyland does christmas. I know that they don't have a separate party like wdw, but am wondering if they really decorate. I have seen some pictures of the parks decorated, but do they decorate the resorts, too? Any information you might have would be helpful. Thanks.

Christmas at Disneyland is my favorite time to be there! It's beautiful!! The decorations imho are much better at DL than at WDW. Unlike WDW's, DL's tree is real and very beautiful! A new thing this year are the castle decorations. It will be decorated with snow and icicles, I'm very excited for it!

Haunted Mansion and IASW have their annual holiday overlays. Both are interesting and worth checking out.

The fireworks, Believe in Holiday Magic, are amazing!! This is my favorite firework display besides Remember. The finale for the show is snow! The snow falls from boxes placed around the park. The classic Christmas Fantasy Parade also plays daily during this time.

I've never been to the hotels during Christmas, so I can't help you there.

The Hotels are amazing too. They spruce them all up for the holidays! I defiantly recommend you visit the Grand California, as they have a tree that stretches tot he ceiling and a pianist that plays classic Christmas songs.

Also IASW is awesome inside and out. Be sure to hit it at the top of the hour, they have a really cool show they project on it.

Hope you really enjoy you holiday vacation.

It is beautiful. There's a Christmas parade, the characters are dressed for Christmas, etc.
The resorts are fully decorated. Huge, beautiful trees. In fact last year the tree inside the Grand Californian caught fire at about 3 in the morning and everyone was evacuated!! No one was hurt, just inconvenienced. It was amazing how quickly they had the lobby back to it's original beautiful self!

Thanks for your help! I am really excited to see the nightmare before christmas overlay at hm. Do you think that they will have all of the christmas decorations out by the beginning of december? We'll be there until the 13th, so I'm assuming we'll get to see most of the decorations. Do you think that since we are going early in the month, we might miss some of the christmas crowds. I'm hoping it won't be too busy. At least we are staying long enough that we should be able to do everything we want at a relaxed pace even if it is busy. It is cheaper when staying a lot of days to just buy the annual pass, which is what we are going to do, so we have some flexibility on popping into the parks whenever we want.

We were there the last couple of days of November last year and everything was up. I think they finish before Thanksgiving so no worries. The crowds should be great on the weeekdays, and crowded on weekends. Every weekend at DL is crowded!:)
