What are the chances of getting all five characters together in one picture? My buddy wants one for his birthday when we go in Sept.

Hmm... Your best bet for that would be at a character meal, such as at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort, I'd think. If you can get in when it's somewhat slow, you'd have a shot.

Yeah I am going booking like 5 character meals with different characters so we can pics with a bunch of character pics without having to waste ride/show time standing in line for a character.

Once upon a time, you could get all five characters at C-Spot if you were the very last family of the night. Nowadays there's nowhere in the parks where you can meet the Fab Five at the same time. Even at dining locations they try to avoid having them together because it would only cause a ton of people trying to get pictures with them as a group.
Long story short: I'm afraid it's extremely unlikely to get a picture with them together, let alone them with your group. Sorry.

The Epcot Character Spot now only has Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy. It is extremely hard to get all 5 of them together in one picture, but your best chance would definitely be at a character meal.
